So glad Dan Fogelberg is almost memoryholed at this point.

Part of my kid of the 70's growing up in the apocalyptic everything sucks we're all gonna die experience.

My mom loved her some Dan Fogelberg, but all could think was does this guy have any songs that aren't Old Yeller died tear jerkers?

Movies weren't any better.

It was either Yul Brenner scaring tf outta you in some futuristic everybody is a zombie killer.

Or, Peter Fonda movies where he's pretty much high af doing stupid shit before meeting an untimely death at the end.

I'll still never get over the Dirty Mary Crazy Larry car flying into the traincars or Race With The Devil RV torching them alive after the devil worshipping fellow campers surrounded it.

Yeah, tru tru.

You need the future years and age/wisdom to make sense of it.

Most of the older kids back then were all tail-end baby boomers that had parents that were tired/worn out and just said fuck it do what you want.

Just about all my frens were either little bro/sis kid #5 or only child like me, not much middle ground.

I know the feeling.

My mom worked for a Jewish apparel company and the boss's wife took a 70's trip to Israel and came back with a bunch of trinkets for everyone.

My mom brought a box home that had this gold chain that had a big star in a circle on it.

So, yeah, I wore it for a bit for shits and grins.

Later in life, I see a pic in her collection of me wearing it in a little league group photo.

Mom!

WTF didn't you tell me back then what that was?

Needless to say I have that particular one in my possession buried deep in a box of her stuff that I inherited.

Yeah, pretty much sounds like my teenage years, too.

I spent the first half of my school years in the city, the back half in the suburbs.

It was a mini-timewarp doing it that way.

I saw the pitfalls of the older kids in the city, so by the time I was seeing it make its way into the burbs I already had the experience/wisdom that many of the burbs kids didn't.

Yep, that's pretty much the qrd discernment.

He fits the glowie handler role, not the shooter.

And now his wife gets pulled over with all the leave the country goods and gets let go?

This might be the wildest FF ever.
