Specifically raise our meat birds twice a year and also raise egg layers for food and supplying neighbors with chicks and surplus as we can. I prefer my meat to live as naturally as possible. 3/4 acre stocked pond . I could pull a dozen or so bluegill or a few catfish weekly, forever. Feeding 5 though, and prepping for the worst for more than a decade.
Chickens are possible almost everywhere, eggs are a complete package. Plus, they are awesome.
