Trump snubs Zelensky meeting

The White House said the US president had to leave the G7 summit due to the ongoing Israel-Iran stand-off

US President Donald Trump has left the G7 summit in Canada early, despite having a scheduled meeting with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, the White House has said, citing the recent escalation in the Middle East.

White House Press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Monday that the US leader is departing the gathering in Kananaskis, Alberta, “so he can attend to many important matters.” She also wrote on X that Trump “had a great day at the G7,” but “because of what’s going on in the Middle East, [he] will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State.”

Zelensky had been scheduled to meet Trump on the sidelines of the summit in what was widelyperceived as an opportunity to urge the US to ramp up sanctions against Russia and approve more weapons shipments to Kiev.

Trump, however, has been reluctant to increase pressure on Moscow, with media reports suggesting that he is frustrated with both Ukraine and Russia, and is considering withdrawing from the peace process altogether.

French President Emmanuel Macron suggested that Trump’s early departure was linked to ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Iran. “There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange,” Macron said. “The US assured they will find a ceasefire, and since they can pressure Israel, things may change.”

Trump, however, pushed back on the claim shortly afterward, rebuking “publicity seeking”Macronfor what he saw as disseminating falsehoods. “He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that,” he wrote on the Truth Social network.

The recent Middle East escalation kicked off after US–Iran talks on a potential nuclear deal ended up at an impasse. Iran has dismissed a US demand to completely eliminate its uranium enrichment capabilities while not ruling out a potential agreement in itself. Tehran has also insisted it is not seeking to create a nuclear weapon, and that its atomic program is for peaceful purposes only.

As the diplomatic process stalled, Israel last week launched several waves of strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing top commanders and nuclear scientists.

Iran retaliated with massive missile strikes on Israel, while the US has backed West Jerusalem’s right to self-defense while reinforcing its assets in the region to protect its long-time ally.Washington, nevertheless, urged Tehran to return to talks.

(This was G7 meeting, someone dragged Zelensky and Scheimbaum to the meeting to corner him to talk about Ukraine. The little asshole thought he could convince Trump that now Kiev wants to buy weapons. It was Macron, Starmer and Merz that did this. Macron did the same thing with Z at Rome, idiot still wore fake war clothes. He’s more than disrespectful.)

‘I don’t care what she said’ – Trump dismisses Tulsi Gabbard’s Iran claims

Iran was “very close” to obtaining a nuclear weapon, US President Donald Trump has said

US President Donald Trump has said he believes that Iran was “very close” to obtaining a nuclear weapon, contrary to the assessment of his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.

In late March, Gabbard said that the US intelligence community “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003.” (It’s very possible the IC agencies lied to her, before she figured out they were lying to her.)

When asked about the stance of his spy chief by journalists on Tuesday, Trump replied: “I do not care what she said.”

“I think they [Iran] were very close to having them,” the president stressed, referring to nuclear weapons.

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman who joined the Republican Party during last year’s presidential campaign, was confirmed by the US Senate as the director of national intelligence in February, following heavy scrutiny and a heated debate.

During her political career, the former presidential candidate and Iraq War veteran has been a fierce critic of the US intelligence community that she currently leads, and was known for her support for NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Trump, who was speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on his return from the G7 summit in Canada, stressed that his goals went beyond achieving a truce between Israel and Iran.

“I did not say I was looking for a ceasefire. I want a real end, with Iran giving up entirely on nuclear weapons,”he noted.

The president again warned Tehran against targeting US military facilities and personnel in the Middle East. “Iran knows not to touch our troops. We would come down so hard if they do anything to our people,” he said.

When asked about the possibility of the US military getting involved•= and assisting Israel with destroying Iran’s nuclear program, Trump expressed hope that it would be “wiped out long before that.”==

CNN reported earlier on Tuesday, citing four informed sources, that US intelligence assessmentshad concluded that not only was Iran not actively pursuing a nuclear bomb, but was also up to three years away from being able to produce one. (CNN getting IC propaganda means they are desperate.)

Israel explained its attack on Iran on Friday by claiming that Tehran was on the brink of obtaining a nuclear weapon. The Iranian authorities have repeatedly insisted that their nuclear program is peaceful in nature and that they are not pursuing atomic weapons development.

Russian military strikes Ukraine’s defense industry – MOD

The attacks targeted facilities in Kiev and a part of Ukraine-controlled Zaporozhye Region, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said

The Russian military has launched a series of attacks on Ukraine’s defense industrial sector, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has said.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry saidthat the group strike involving high-precision air-, land-, and sea-based weapons, as well as drones, targeted military-industrial facilities in Kiev Region and the Ukrainian-controlled part of Zaporozhye Region.

“The goal of the strikes has been accomplished. All designated targets have been hit,” officials said.

Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky claimed on social media that more than 440 drones and 32 missiles targeted facilities in Odessa, Chernigov, Zhitomir, Kirovograd, and Nikolaev, killing 15 people and injuring 75.He urged “the US and Europe to… finally react the way a civilized society reacts to terrorists.”(Zelensky the pot calling the kettle black. Worst terrorist ever, he’s held Ukraine hostage. He’s calling us uncivilized, seriously stupid. He’s losing power and support in all the right circles.)

Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua has reported, citing service members, that one of the strikes destroyed an ammunition depot in Kiev Region. It also claimed that a dormitory of an aviation institute in the Ukrainian capital had been hit.

Unverified videos on social media showed at least four powerful explosions in Kiev that could be seen from kilometers away.

Ukrainian InteriorMinister Igor Klimenko said that the attacks had damaged several buildings, including educational institutions, and critical infrastructure facilities.

In recent weeks, Russia has been launching strikes on Ukrainian military-related facilities after Kiev significantly ramped up drone strikes into the country. Moscow has described the recent escalation as Kiev’s attempt to derail the ongoing Russia-Ukraine peace talks. Russian officials have insisted that the attacks are never aimed at civilians.

More African countries face US visa ban - media

The State Department has reportedly cited weak identity document systems, government fraud, and overstays as reasons for their inclusion

The United States plans toexpand its controversial travel restrictions to citizens from 36 additional countries, including 25 African nations, The Washington Post reported over the weekend, citing an internal State Department memo.

The move would expand restrictions announced earlier this month by US President Donald Trump, whoframed the policy as a necessary step to enhance national security and prevent potential threats.

The proposed entry ban could affect a wide geographic swath of the African continent, including nations which have maintained longstanding diplomatic and economic ties with Washington. West African countries named in the draft list include Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal.

The list includes the Central African nations of Cameroon, Gabon, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are reportedly included, along with the island nation of Sao Tome and Principe. The East African countries of Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda are included, as well as Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe in Southern Africa. Mauritania, located in Northwest Africa, and Egypt, a key US ally in North Africa, are also reportedly named.

Non-African states flagged for restrictions include Antigua and Barbuda, Bhutan, Cambodia, Dominica, Kyrgyzstan, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Syria, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

The alleged document cites several reasons for the proposed bans. Some countries are said to have “no competent or cooperative central government authority to produce reliable identity documents or other civil documents,” while others reportedly suffer from “widespread government fraud.” It also claims that several have “large numbers” of citizens who have overstayed their visas in the US.

According to The Washington Post, “the memo, which was signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and sent Saturday to US diplomats who work with the countries, saidthe governments of listed nations were being given 60 days to meet new benchmarks and requirements established by the State Department.”

Earlier, on June 4, President Trump signed an executive order blacklisting nationals of 12 countries, including Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Libya, Somalia, and Sudan. He cited concerns over terrorism, lack of security cooperation, visa overstays, and the refusal of some governments to accept deported nationals.

In retaliation, Chad suspended visa issuance to American citizens, while some of its neighbors said they would pursue dialogue with Washington to address the issues raised.

(It has seemed for quite a while, Trump and Admin knows about very serious events that could be coming, with the order of updated nuclear and many other military ready actions.)

=President Trump Holds Press Gaggle Aboard Air Force One Returning to White House==

June 17, 2025 | Sundance |

After departing the G7 in Canada, President Trump held a press availability aboard Airforce One at approximately 1:00am. President Trump and Secretary Rubio were returning to the White House early to address issues of concern in the Iran-Israel conflict. WATCH (prompted): https://youtu.be/37D1xmAgnKk

The president’s entire national security apparatus are assembled in the White House today (Tuesday) as the principals review events from the situation room.

Jennifer Jacobs (Bloomberg) provides a solid recap of the AF1 presser. “Trump wants “a real end” to the nuclear problem with Iran and this morning will find him in the White House Situation Room, monitoring developments in Middle East, he told us during his midnight departure from Canada.

“I didn’t say I was looking for a ceasefire,” he said on AF1. =He said he wants “a real end,” with Iran “giving up entirely” on nukes.==

The Israelis aren’t slowing up their barrage on Iran, he predicted. “You’re going to find out over the next two days. You’re going to find out. Nobody’s slowed up so far.”

Asked his thinking on calling for Tehran to evacuate, he told me he wants “people to be safe.”

He needs to be present at the White House, not Canada, where he can be “well versed” and not have to rely on phones to know what’s happening, he said.

Trump sounded undecided about sending Witkoff and/or VP Vance to meet with Iran. “I may,” he said. But “it depends what happens when I get back,” he said.

On any threat to US interests, he said Iran knows not to touch our troops. US would “come down so hard if they do anything to our people,” he said.

Trump declined to say if the chairman of joint chiefs and SecDef have provided him with planning options should Iran attack U.S. bases in Middle East. “I can’t tell you that,” he told me.

Trump told me “we’ll be talking to them” when asked if the Gang of Eight was briefed on anything yet. But “it’s not necessary,” he said.

Asked if US involvement would destroy Iran nuclear program, hope their program “is wiped out long before that.”

Iran is “very close” to a nuclear weapon, he said. “I don’t care what she said I think they were very close to having them,” Trump told us on AF1 when asked about Tulsi Gabbard testimony in March.

I asked him about efforts to help Americans leave the region, with commercial airspace closed, and he said admin “working on that. We’re doing the best we can.”

“I haven’t seen it,” he told me when I asked if any signs North Korea or Russia more involved in aiding Iran.

I asked him about his strategy for Senate confirmations, given only 3 of 6 defense undersecretaries confirmed so far. He said Thune is doing a very good job, but Dems “hold up our nominations.” He’d like the process to go faster, he said.

Scott Bessent and a couple others stayed behind to meet with G7 leaders, he told me. (Rubio is on AF1 with us.)

But he did all he needed at the gathering, he said.

He said he hadn’t seen the G7 statement yet but he “authorized them go say certain things.” Carney did a good job hosting, he said. {LINK}
