Most folks I encounter in that situation 'had'

nice cars, nice homes, boats, quads, jet skis,

snomachines, movie and sportsball

packages on cable/satellite, annual vacations

to exotic locales all paid for with money they

didn't have. "That" was their 'golden years.

They just enjoyed it early. Not a bad plan if

your health will be shit in retirement.

>All the pennies theyโ€™ve saved for a rainy day in those jars ainโ€™t gonna save them.

I don't know, I was always a wage slave but I shunned all that fancy, expensive shit because I never cared what guy next door thought of me. Lived a humble life with everything I needed.

Just unexpectedly paid $25,450.00 for 70 feet of new sewer line I cant even fucking see and it didn't put a dimple in my retirement.

Having a goal, will power and discipline to accomplish the goal goes a long way.

Keeping up with the Joneses, not so much.

My life wasn't like that at all but you're right, most Americans lives are, largely by incremental choice. The bought the lie/drank the kool-aid and indebted themselves to a life of poverty forever more. I get it. Had to deal with a wife bitching about all her friends going on fancy vacations while we went to a national park instead.

Now, all her friends live in poverty in retirement or are facing it. That same wife is so grateful for my wisdom that all I have to do is think the word 'sammich' and a sammich appears.

I'm under no illusions and not bragging because I know that it can all be lost in a moment of carelessness or inattention but I even planned for that as best I could.

Now I just have to avoid getting hit by a bus to enjoy it.

You're right!

I'm always reminded of this:

Following the signing of the Constitution in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787, Elizabeth Willing Powel, the wife of the mayor of Philadelphia, reportedly asked (Benjamin) Franklin, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" Franklin is said to have replied, "A republic, if you can keep it".

Americans are always quick to point out their rights but seem to forget about their simple responsibilities. Had we maintained those responsibilities, WE would not be in this mess.

The reality is that we traded our freedom and responsibilities for whatever the snake oil salesmen of the day were pedaling. Today, it's easy credit for example. We have to learn to be Americans again. Q has us moving down that path now.

No I haven't. I believe the (s)elections are rigged and have been for all my life. Trump, in his third run, is the only politician I've ever donated to.

Restoring our elections will help but the money needs to be addressed as well. It takes stupid amounts of money to run for any office. However, if we go back to paying our Federal reps per diem only for the days they are in session while they keep their day jobs back home, that will be a big help. No more lifetime salary, healthcare etc. And fucking term limits! No more that two, non-consecutive terms for any office seems reasonable to me.
