Trump nominates Adm. Daryl Caudle to lead Navy

President Donald Trump nominated Adm. Daryl Caudle, current commander of the U.S. Fleet Forces, to be the next chief of naval operations, following the firing of Adm. Lisa Franchetti in late February.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed the decision during his testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday morning.

Prior to leading the Fleet Forces, Caudle led the Naval Submarine Forces and the Naval Submarine Force Atlantic, and he served as the commanding officer of the USS Jefferson City, USS Helena, USS Topeka, and Submarine Squadron 3.
