Yeah, that seems to fit with Thomas Jefferson's philosophy of "natural aristocrats" who could guide America by personal virtue. By Jefferson didn't envision the permanent national security state, extensive classification, withholding of exculpatory evidence by unaccountable bureaucracies.
I realize Trump has to worry about geopolitics in the short run, but it would be nice to have some semblance of American culture left in four years. I realize the voters have to trust the guy they voted for, but trust is not an infinite resource in human affairs.
