Update(1730ET): As President Trump convenes a White House situation room meeting this Tuesday early evening, and following Ayatollah Khamenei's earlier televised speech vowing 'we will not surrender' - The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Trump has made the decision:

President Trump told senior aides late Tuesday that he approved of attack plans for Iran, but was holding off to see if Tehran would abandon its nuclear program, people familiar with the deliberations said. Iran’s well-defended Fordow enrichment facility is a possible U.S. target. Israel has yet to attack the facility, which is buried under a mountain and is generally considered by military experts to be out of reach of all but the most powerful bombs.

Asked earlier if he had decided whether to strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities, Trump said, “I may do it, I may not do it.” And he repeated his insistence of Iran’s unconditional surrender: “The next week is going to be very big, maybe less than a week.”

Is this yet another last ditch effort to strong arm Tehran to the negotiating table, where Trump's hope is that it will declare zero enrichment? Has the US Commander-in-Chief painted himself into a corner, and now it's all zero sum? The Iranians remain under heavy Israeli bombing, and with leadership likely in deep bunkers, are unlikely to negotiate the end of their own 'regime'. Trump may have finally pulled the trigger here. Israel has no justification for trying to bring about “regime change” in Iran through its bombing campaign, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told RT’s Rick Sanchez on Wednesday. West Jerusalem’s backers conveniently forget about all the legal and moral principles they claim to defend the moment they’re called upon to support the Jewish State, she stated.

Israel launched a series of missile attacks against Iran on Friday, claiming that Tehran was on the brink of acquiring nuclear weapons – a goal Tehran has repeatedly denied pursuing. The Islamic Republic responded with a missile barrage of its own, and the two nations have been exchanging strikes ever since.

“What has Iran done wrong? What is it being bombed for?” Zakharova asked Sanchez in response to a question about the ongoing hostilities.

“Israel says they don’t like the regime in Iran, the political regime,” Zakharova said, stressing that this doesn’t gives West Jerusalem the right to attack another nation. “Whether you like a regime or you don’t, if it doesn’t attack you… you have no right to change that regime,” she argued.

Iran’s nuclear program, which Israel portrays as a source of major concern, is a matter for international law and diplomacy to deal with, the spokeswoman pointed out, adding that any issues linked to it should be resolved by the international community. “It’s not a matter of somebody trying to solve this issue on their own,” she added.

West Jerusalem has also failed to prove that there was any immediate threat coming from Tehran, Zakharova maintained. “We’ve heard multiple statements from Israel that they have proof that Iran is one step away from creating weapons of mass destruction. Why can’t they just show the documents?” she said, expressing doubts about whether any such evidence exists.

Yet, the lack of justification for Israel’s actions apparently does not concern Western nations, the spokeswoman said.

Israel is bombing Iran, and the Western world keeps saying that Israel has the right to do so. The West seems to have forgotten in an instant about human rights, about children… in the midst of hell.

On Monday, Iran’s authorities said that, since the start of hostilities, Israeli attacks have killed at least 224 people, including 74 women and children, while injuring 1,800. Meanwhile, Israel claims that Iranian strikes have killed at least 24 people, all civilians, while injuring nearly 600.

Only 16% Of Americans, 19% Of Trump Voters Want US To Join Israel's War On Iran

As President Trump reportedly considers issuing an unconstitutional order to commit the US military to Israel's war on Iran, a new poll finds very little public support for an American attack on Iran – even among those who voted for Trump in 2024.

According to an Economist/YouGov poll taken between June 13 and 16, only 16% of Americans "think the US military should get involved in the conflict between Israel and Iran. In an even more significant finding, only 19% of people who voted for Trump in 2024 support American military involvement. (23% of all self-identified Republicans support going to war.) Similarly, 56% of all Americans say the United States should engage in negotiations with Iran. That avenue has even greater support among Trump supporters – with 63% advocating negotiations.

On the other hand, some of the poll's findings illustrate the effectiveness of decades of government propagandizing about Iran that's been echoed by establishment media. For example, 61% of Americans say Iran's nuclear program poses either an "immediate, serious threat" or "somewhat serious threat" to the United States. In 2007, the US intelligence community issued a National Intelligence Estimate that concluded with "high confidence" that Iran was not developing a nuclear weapon. That same conclusion has been periodically reiterated by the intelligence community ever since, including just three months ago. Similarly, 50% of Americans and 68% of Trump voters classify Iran as an "enemy" of the United States. A quarter of Americans categorize Iran as "unfriendly."

Interestingly, the poll also asked respondents to characterize Israel in the same way. Here, 10% said Israel was unfriendly and 6% called Israel an enemy; 61% said Israel was either an ally or friendly, while 23% said they were unsure. Against the top-line finding of 16% of Americans saying Israel is either "unfriendly" or an "enemy," some groups with above-average negative convictions about Israel include Hispanics (21%), 18- to 29-year-olds (21%), 30- to 44-year olds (20%), income under $50k (18%) and liberals (22%).

And Carlson again capitalized when Cruz began addressing theology, asking Cruz exactly where in the Bible was the verse he referenced.

'I can find it,' Cruz said. 'I don't have the scripture off the tip of my…' he said, urging Carlson to 'pull out [his] phone' to search for it.

'It's in Genesis,' Carlson said. 'You're quoting a Bible phrase you don't have context for, you don't know where in the Bible it is… that's your theology?'

Carlson continued, asking Cruz to clarify whether the Bible called for 'blessing the government of Israel.'

'I'm a Christian,' he said. 'I want to know what you're talking about… I'm confused.'

Cruz doubled down, explaining: 'Where does my support for Israel come from? Number one, because biblically we are commanded to support Israel… It doesn't say the government of Israel, it says the nation of Israel. So that's in the Bible. As a Christian, I believe that.'

Tensions escalated as the two men spoke over the top of one another and Carlson said: 'Hold on, you're a senator and now you're throwing out theology. I'm a Christian and I'm allowed to weigh in on this.

'We're commanded as Christians to support the government of Israel? Define Israel. This is important. Are you kidding? This is a majority Christian country.'

Cruz hit back: 'Define Israel? Do you not know what Israel is? That would be the country you've asked like 49 questions about.'

'So that's what Genesis - that's what God is talking about?' Carlson said. 'Is that the current borders, the current leadership, he's talking about the political entity of Israel.

'Is the nation God is referring to in Genesis the same country Benjamin Netanyahu is running now?'
