Fannie, Freddie oversight chief to Powell: Cut rates or resign

The head of the federal agency responsible for overseeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac called Wednesday for Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to resign if the central bank did not cut rates that day.
In a Wednesday post on social media, Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte accused Powell of refusing to do his job by not cutting interest rates at President Trump’s request.
Both the Fed and FHFA are independent federal agencies charged with overseeing critically important parts of the U.S. financial system. Congress designed those agencies to be immune from the political pressures exhibited by both Trump and Pulte.
“Because President Trump has crushed inflation, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell needs to lower interest rates today, and if not Chairman Powell needs to resign, immediately. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac can help so many more Americans if Chair Powell will just do his job and lower rates,” Pulte wrote on social platform X, just half an hour before the Fed was expected to announce it would keep rates unchanged.
The Fed, as anticipated, did not cut or raise rates.
As FHFA director, Pulte is responsible for overseeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — two companies under federal conservatorship that package U.S. mortgages into investment products. Both companies have been under control of the federal government since the collapse of the housing market during the 2007-08 financial crisis.
By attacking Powell, Pulte has plunged himself and his agency into a political battle with severe financial implications.
Trump has threatened to fire Powell frequently throughout his two presidential terms, even though federal law prohibits him from doing so in all but extreme circumstances. Attempting to fire the Fed chief could also cause a panic in financial markets, a risk the president has acknowledged when discussing his plans for the Fed.
Even so, Trump suggested making a run at Powell as recently as last week, and mused Wednesday about nominating himself to the Fed.
Powell reiterated Wednesday that the Fed prefers to keep rates steady given the high level of uncertainty created by Trump’s trade policy and the relative strength of the economy despite those risks.
The Fed is obligated under federal law to set interest rates in a way that preserves the proper balance in between unemployment and inflation.
But Pulte claimed Wednesday that Powell and the Fed should be setting interest rates with the health of the housing market in mind.
“Funny thing is Jay Powell is talking right now about the housing market – he has no clue what he can do for the housing market. And he’s not listening to the people who help lead the housing market. Too Late needs to RESIGN,” Pulte posted, referring to Powell with Trump’s nickname for the Fed chair.
Powell has dismissed the president’s previous attacks and said he would not leave his position before the end of his term.
With less than a year left into Powell’s stint as Fed chair, Trump and his advisors are expected to nominate his replacement before the end of 2025.

The White House is now saying Iran has everything they need to build a nuclear weapon, the only remaining factor is when to assemble it. “Iran has all that it needs to achieve a nuclear weapon,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.“All they need is a decision from the supreme leader to do that.”
Press Secretary Leavitt then announced President Trump will make the decision to conduct U.S. military strikes within two weeks. “Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place in the near future, I will make my decision of whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday.
Benjamin Netanyahu also answered a question about when the Trump administration will become involved.

As President Trump is known to say, “don’t make it complicated.” Just look at things as they are, as they present themselves to be, and ask the most obvious questions.
Consider Antifa.
How can a group within America openly threaten police, use violence against police, throw Molotov cocktails, bricks and explosive fireworks at police. Use batons, shields, bats and physical violence against police and federal law enforcement; destroy vehicles, set cars on fire, destroy property, trash and block the streets and create chaos…. Completely without being stopped?
It doesn’t matter where it is happening, that’s irrelevant. Think plainly and simply.
How does any individual or group get to do this without being arrested?
It doesn’t make sense… unless….
…. Unless…. The group conducting the violence cannot be arrested.
Many people are coming around to the understanding that the FBI is Antifa.
If the FBI did not support Antifa, quite simply Antifa would not exist. They are right there, highly visible, doing illegal things on camera, repeatedly, all over the country,and the FBI doesn’t lift a finger to stop them. Why?
The only thing that makes sense is that the FBI wants this activity to take place.
If they did not want it to take place, they would stop it and arrest the lawbreakers who are attacking federal buildings and officers.
This is not complicated.
The FBI supports Antifa.
… If they did not support them, the FBI would stop them.
Remember this.
If the FBI is Antifa, the next question becomes…. are the Cartels the CIA?

If Israel and Trump do NOT eliminate the Iranian missile and nuclear capacities, that will make things worse.
If Israel takes out Iranian top leadership, that will lead to chaos that could be on the Iraq-Libya scale.
If the Iranian leadership survives, even without the top guy, they will rebuild their missile and nuclear capabilities.
If Israel "finishes the job" without needing American bunker buster bombs, Iran will still blame America for participating in the war.
If Iran makes an unexpected offer to get rid of all nuclear facilities and missile plants, neither Israel nor America would trust that to be true.
Trump will need to Captain Kirk this situation like we have never seen before.

Fox News host Mark Levin advocated for bombing Iran on Tuesday night amid escalating hostilities between that country and Israel.
Last week, Israel bombed Iranian nuclear facilities and assassinated several top military officials and nuclear scientists. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleges that Iran is on the verge of building a nuclear weapon, a claim he has made repeatedly for the last 30 years. Iran responded with a barrage of missiles, and the two sides have been exchanging volleys since.
President Donald Trump had reportedly urged Netanyahu not to attack and allow talks between Iran and the president’s Middle East envoy to continue. After the attack, Trump expressed support for the move and has fired off a series of bellicose posts about Iran. On Monday, he cryptically warned all 10 million residents of Tehran to “immediately evacuate” the capital. The next day, he suggested he could assassinate Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and also posted simply, “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” The president also appeared to suggest that the U.S. is already involved, claiming, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.”
Levin, a Fox News weekend host, joined Tuesday’s Hannity, where he tried to rally viewers behind military action on Iran.He mocked those who suggested a U.S. attack could lead to a wider war in the region or the world:
