Spanish Police Search Socialist Party’s HQ in Corruption Investigation, as PM Sánchez Fights Calls To Resign Over Repeated Scandals
It was not a raid: according to the vast majority of MSM reports, Spanish police ‘entered’ today (20) the headquarters of the ruling Socialist party during an operation for the corruption investigations involving former Minister Santos Cerdán.
This is another blow for failing Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, whose government is rife with graft, bribery, and corruption scandals.
A week ago, we complied a non-exhausting list of the scandals that begin in Sánchez’s own family.
Begoña Gómez, wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, has been under investigation since April 2024 for alleged influence peddling and corruption. She is accused of using her position to influence government contract awards.
Begoña Gómez is accused of signing recommendation letters in 2020 that helped businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés secure a €7.7 million public contract.
Pedro Sánchez’s brother, David Sánchez, faces charges related to money concealment.
Former Transport Minister José Luis Ábalos and his advisor Koldo García are investigated for securing contracts for medical companies in exchange for commissions.
And finally, the case in point here, Santos Cerdán, senior Socialist Party official and close ally of Sánchez, is implicated in a corruption case involving alleged kickbacks for public contract awards.

Reuters reported:
“Spanish police entered the headquarters of the ruling Socialist Party on Friday to copy the emails of ex-senior party official Santos Cerdan, whose resignation amid a widening graft probe last week triggered a severe political crisis.
Judge Leopoldo Puente, who is investigating allegations against Cerdan and former Transport Minister Jose Luis Abalos, had ordered that the party let the plainclothes officers access its premises, although the Guardia Civil police and government officials said the move did not amount to a raid or searches.”
