>>2321795 An Explainer of 35X, the Terrible Airport Gate Where Donald Trump Jr. and Robert Mueller Were Both Spotted
Everyone who's ever been there knows it's the worst airport gate ever.
WRITTEN BY JESSICA SIDMAN | PUBLISHED ON JULY 27, 2018
It’s hard to think of anything more awkward than Robert Mueller and Donald Trump Jr. waiting for flights at the same gate in Reagan National Airport, as Politico captured in a wondrous photo this morning. But the real kicker for anyone who’s ever flown out of DCA is that the almost-encounter occurred at Gate 35X.
For those not in the know, Gate 35X in Terminal C is widely considered one of the worst airport gates ever, anywhere, of all time. We hear the Gates of Hell are quite lovely in comparison. You see, 35X isn’t a proper gate but an inhumane cattle-herding pen with an escalator that takes you to a bus terminal that takes you to your remotely parked airplane. Even DCA itself calls 35X “infamously congested” with 6,000 passengers making their way through each day. It’s basically one gate serving as an entire concourse. And if you were going to have an awkward run-in, of course it would be there.
The good news is that airport officials are building a new 14-gate concourse that will replace 35X’s horrid bussing system. The bad news: it’s not slated to open until 2021. In the meantime, take a look at just how much people hate 35X:

HHS official who spread Pizzagate conspiracy theory out at agency
A Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) official who in 2016 used social media to spread the "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory is reportedly out at the agency.
Ximena Barreto-Rice, one of President Trump's political appointees, was escorted from HHS headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Friday, Politico reported.
An individual with knowledge of the situation told Politico that Barreto-Rice resigned.
The Trump appointee joined HHS's communications staff last December. She was reassigned this spring to a different division within the agency after social media posts emerged from her accounts claiming that 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was involved in a child sex ring run out of a D.C. pizzeria.
Other conspiracy theories shared by Barreto-Rice in 2016 included attempts to link Clinton to the unsolved murder of Seth Rich, an aide to the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
Barreto-Rice expressed a general disdain for Democratic politicians in her posts, including one that claimed “our forefathers would have hung" former President Obama and Clinton for treason, and claimed that Islam was a “f—ing cult, not a religion.”
An HHS official told The Hill earlier this year that Barreto-Rice would be reassigned away from the department's communications staff, but that no official complaints on her work for HHS had been received.

After House bolts for summer, Senate plows ahead on nominations, spending bills, and a hearing on Russian bots
The House is out of session until Sept. 4, but the Senate plans to keep working, beginning next week with a vote on a major appropriations measure, a defense policy bill, and a motion to begin negotiations with the House on a five-year farm policy measure.
The Senate will also probe “foreign influence operations” in social media.
The subject will be part of a rare open hearing conducted by the Senate Intelligence Committee. The panel has invited social media experts to discuss the issue, which lawmakers are focused on following President Trump’s Helsinki meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his walked-back suggestion that Russia did not try to meddle in the 2016 election.
The Senate is planning to dedicate part of the summer work session to confirming President Trump’s judicial and executive nominees, staring with a vote on the nomination of Britt Grant to serve as a judge for the 11th Circuit.
Senate lawmakers are preparing to hold a confirmation hearing on Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court.

Not fired.
An HHS official told The Hill earlier this year that Barreto-Rice would be reassigned away from the department's communications staff, but that no official complaints on her work for HHS had been received.
“Mrs. Barreto-Rice will not to return to the public affairs department and will serve in a different role where she will work to complete several projects,” an HHS official said earlier this year.
Wonder what those "projects" are - KEK!
