Letterman's show ended in 2015. The Oprah pic was taken in 2013. So it appears that the black eyes aren't a "one time only" thing. This would explain why old men like NoName and Prince Andrew are pictured with the black eyes. If it were a one-time only ritual, they would have been initiated when they were much younger.
