Because the only thing corroborating this is a single Washington Examiner article. You'd think more than would news outlet would write an article about SECDEF having a mysterious injury, ESPECIALLY if he went to the dark-side. They'd be flaunting this in our faces.
He and POTUS wear purple ties all the time as a fuck-you to the cabal. This is just fear porn because they know how much Mattis is revered here. Also, that is the only picture of him having a black eye. The pictures of him on @ChiefPentSpox yesterday don't look as exaggerated as the Washington Examiner picture.
The ONLY picture of him having a black eye is from that SINGLE article. That's the fishy smell you're getting.
