Russia sides with terror-state Iran

-President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for his comments about nuclear weapons, while boasting of U.S. nuclear might.

-Medvedev claimed that multiple countries are “ready to directly supply” Iran with nuclear warheads as a result of the U.S. strikes on key Iranian nuclear sites.

-Vice President JD Vance recently declined to say that the U.S. is certain that Iran’s nuclear sites were destroyed.

President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for claiming that multiple countries are “ready to directly supply” Iran with nuclear warheads as a result of the U.S. strikes on key Iranian nuclear sites.

“Did he really say that or, is it just a figment of my imagination?” Trump said of Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s security council. “If he did say that, and, if confirmed, please let me know, IMMEDIATELY,” he wrote on Truth Social.

Trump chided Medvedev that the “N word” — which he specified stood for “Nuclear” — “should not be treated so casually.” But his response included a similar bout of nuclear saber-rattling, suggesting that the president feels emboldened after ordering the bomb attacks against Iran late Saturday Eastern time.

“By the way, if anyone thinks our ‘hardware’ was great over the weekend, far and away the strongest and best equipment we have, 20 years advanced over the pack, is our Nuclear Submarines,” Trump wrote, calling them “the most powerful and lethal weapons ever built.”

Trump added, “I guess that’s why Putin’s ‘THE BOSS.’”

The post came in response to Medvedev, who preceded Vladimir Putin as president, criticizing the U.S. strikes on social media while downplaying their impact on Iran, a Russian ally.

While Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth boasted that the attacks had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Sunday morning London time that it detected “no increase in off-site radiation levels has been reported as of this time.”

Vice President JD Vance in a Sunday interview declined to say that the U.S. is certain that Iran’s nuclear sites were destroyed, though he said he believes “we have really pushed their program back by a very long time.”

But Medvedev wrote early Sunday morning ET on X that Iranian nuclear infrastructure appears to have sustained only minor damage, and asserted that the “future production of nuclear weapons” will continue.

He added that, “A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads” following the U.S. strikes.

Medvedev also mocked Trump for having “pushed the US into another war” that most countries oppose.

“At this rate, Trump can forget about the Nobel Peace Prize — not even with how rigged it has become. What a way to kick things off, Mr. President. Congratulations!”

Russia’s current president, Putin, on Monday condemned the U.S. military action as “absolutely unprovoked aggression” and claimed that Moscow is making efforts to aid the Iranian people.

Medvedev responded to Trump’s critique in a new post, writing, “Russia has no intention of supplying nuclear weapons to Iran.”

“But other countries might — that’s what was said,” he added.

Trump Media approves $400 million stock buyback

-The Trump Media buyback will be funded separately from the company’s bitcoin treasury plan, which includes $1.5 billion in equity and $1 billion in convertible notes.

-President Donald Trump indirectly owns more than 114 million shares of the company through a revocable trust and is the largest shareholder.

-Trump Media posted a $400.9 million net loss in 2024 on just $3.6 million in revenue, but says it ended the year with more than $775 million in cash.

Trump Media & Technology Group

, the parent company of Truth Social, Truth+ and the fintech platform Truth.Fi, said Monday that its board has approved a stock buyback of up to $400 million.

Trump Media stock rose about 3% on the news premarket.

The Florida-based company, which trades under the ticker DJT on both Nasdaq and NYSE Texas, said the buyback could include both common stock and warrants, executed through open market transactions. All repurchased shares would be retired.

“Since Trump Media now has approximately $3 billion on its balance sheet, we have the flexibility to take actions like this which support strong shareholder returns, as we continue exploring further strategic opportunities,” said CEO Devin Nunes in a release announcing the move.

President Donald Trump, who indirectly owns more than 114 million shares of the company through a revocable trust, remains the largest shareholder.

The announcement follows Trump Media’s $2.5 billion raise last month from institutional investors — one of the largest bitcoin treasury plays by a public company. The company said it would use those funds, which include $1.5 billion in equity and $1 billion in convertible notes, to buy bitcoin, with custody provided by Anchorage Digital and Crypto.com.

Calling bitcoin a “crown jewel,” Nunes said the move was designed to defend the company against what he described as “discrimination by financial institutions” against conservative businesses. The funds will also support the launch of Trump-branded exchange-traded funds and other crypto products later this year, pending regulatory approval.

Trump Media said the buyback will be funded independently and will not affect the capital already earmarked for its bitcoin treasury initiative.

In February, Trump Media reported a $400.9 million net loss for the full year on just $3.6 million in annual revenue. The company cited legal fees and a revised advertising revenue-sharing agreement as contributing factors.

Despite the losses, Trump Media said it ended the year with $776.8 million in cash and short-term investments.

The company, which went public via a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, last year, now trades with a market capitalization of around $4.9 billion.

The stock nearly doubled in 2024 as Trump won the U.S. presidential election in November. As of Friday’s close, the stock was down nearly 48% this year.

Biden physician to testify before congress on July 9

Former President Joe Biden’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, will testify before the House Oversight Committee on July 9 as part of its investigation into Biden’s mental acuity while in office, per a committee aide.

O’Connor, who was subpoenaed by committee Chair James Comer earlier this month, had refused the committee’s request for testimony. He cited, among other things, physician-patient privilege.

Supreme Court allows Trump to swiftly deport certain immigrants to 'third countries'

The Trump administration sought to overturn a judge's ruling that imposed a legal process for deporting convicted criminals to places other than their countries of origin.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court made it easier Monday for the Trump administration to deport convicted criminals to "third countries" to which they have no previous connection.

In a brief unsigned order that did not explain its reasoning, the court put on hold a federal judge's ruling that said those affected nationwide should have a "meaningful opportunity" to bring claims that they would be at risk of torture, persecution or death if they were sent to countries the administration has made deals with to receive deported immigrants.

As a result, the administration will be able to try to quickly remove immigrants to such third countries, including South Sudan. Affected immigrants can still attempt to bring individual claims.

"The ramifications of the Supreme Court’s order will be horrifying; it strips away critical due process protections that have been protecting our class members from torture and death,” said Trina Realmuto, executive director of the National Immigration Litigation Alliance, one of the groups that brought the legal challenge.

Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement that the decision was a "victory for the safety and security of the American people." She also criticized the Biden administration, saying its immigration policies allowed too many migrants into the country.

"DHS can now execute its lawful authority and remove illegal aliens to a country willing to accept them," McLaughlin said. “Fire up the deportation planes.”

The three liberal justices on the conservative-majority court all dissented.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in a dissenting opinion that the court had stepped in "to grant the government emergency relief from an order it has repeatedly defied."

She said the court was "rewarding lawlessness" by allowing the Trump administration to violate immigrants' due process rights.

The fact that "thousands will suffer violence in far-flung locales" is less important to the conservative majority than the "remote possibility" that the judge had exceeded his authority, Sotomayor said.

Massachusetts-based U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy, who has come under heavy fire from MAGA world for his decisions in the case, later clarified that people should have at least 10 days to bring a claim.

As Sotomayor referred to, Murphy recently said the administration had violated his previous order by flying eight migrants to South Sudan. The men are being held in a U.S. facility in Djibouti while the litigation continues.

The unnamed plaintiffs, Murphy wrote in his original April decision, are merely seeking "an opportunity to explain why such a deportation will likely result in their persecution, torture and/or death."

All those potentially affected by the litigation are already subject to deportation but cannot be sent to their countries of origin. Murphy's rulings, like other cases that have arisen as a result of the Trump administration's hard-line immigration policy, focus solely on what legal process they receive before they can be deported.

His order required detainees to be given notice if the government intends to send them to entirely different countries, to their countries of origin or to alternative countries that the government had indicated they could be sent to.

Solicitor General D. John Sauer had complained in a court filing that Murphy's decisions imposed an "onerous set of procedures" that encroached on the president's power to conduct foreign policy.

He said the government wishes to deport "some of the worst of the worst," which is why their home countries are "often unwilling to take them back."

Persuading third countries to accept criminally convicted immigrants in particular "requires sensitive diplomacy, which involves negotiations and the balancing of other foreign policy interests," he added.

Lawyers for the four lead plaintiffs, identified by their initials, said in court papers that Murphy's injunction merely "provides a basic measure of fairness" to ensure the government is following the law. The plaintiffs identified in the lawsuit are from Cuba, Honduras, Ecuador and Guatemala.

Under immigration law, the government can deport people to third countries only if it is “impracticable, inadvisable, or impossible” to send them either to their home countries or previously designated alternative countries, the plaintiffs’ lawyers added.

The Guatemalan plaintiff, identified as O.C.G., is a gay man who the plaintiffs say was quickly deported to Mexico this year even though it was not previously designated as a country he could be sent to. O.C.G. had said that was kidnapped and raped in Mexico last year.

The Mexican government sent him to Guatemala, where he was, until recently, in hiding.

On June 4, the Trump administration returned him to the United States.

Tom Cotton shares poll showing overwhelming GOP support for Iran strikes

The numbers are meant to undercut the idea that Trump’s hawkish pivot is dividing the Republican base.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) on Monday shared with GOP colleagues results from a new poll that showed overwhelming support among Republicans for President Donald Trump’s strikes in Iran.

The poll is the first conducted of Trump voters since Saturday night’s efforts to destroy Iranian nuclear facilities.

Nine in 10 respondents support the airstrikes on the three facilities, according to the poll from GrayHouse, the polling and data analytics firm that has become a go-to for Senate Republicans. The survey included 450 people who voted for Trump last year.

The numbers are meant to undercut the idea that Trump’s hawkish pivot is dividing the Republican base, which has taken on an increasingly isolationist flavor since the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a Senate GOP conference spokesperson. Cotton is chair of the Senate Republican Conference.

Trump and Vice President JD Vance have repeatedly criticized past leaders for bogging down the United States in foreign conflicts, and some on the right, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Tucker Carlson, voiced concern that the president was making a similar mistake.

But only 10 percent of respondents thought Saturday’s strikes were the same kind of military intervention that has led to long-term problems in the U.S. and only 13 percent thought strikes constituted a “war” with Iran.

The spokesperson said one goal of the poll is to show that the isolationist influencers “don’t remotely speak for Republican voters who back Trump’s effort as close to unanimously as you can be.”

Cotton, along with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), have emerged as two of Trump’s chief defenders, arguing that a nuclear-armed Iran posed an existential threat to America and its allies.
