Is it a surprise that Jim Comey’s daughter Maurene is in the middle of the Epstein case?

…What also isn’t mentioned is that it was initially reported that the footage from outside of Epstein’s cell on the night of his death was missing. In December of 2019 The Daily Mail reported that the footage was found.

Who was involved in reporting for the DOJ that the footage was missing and then found?… None other than Jim Comey’s daughter Maurene Comey. (emphasis added below)

The missing surveillance footage of Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide attempt in jail has been found, one day after prosecutors claimed it mysteriously vanished from the prison.

On Thursday Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Swergold and Maurene Comey told federal judge Kenneth Karas in a court filing that the video was found.

‘Earlier today, the Government confirmed with [Metropolitan Correctional Center] staff that the Video was preserved by MCC staff,’ the statement said as per the New York Post.

Yesterday the mystery into Epstein’s death seemed to deepen when Swergold stood up in court and claimed the footage hadn’t been retained by the facility.

That video in question was footage from outside Epstein’s cell at Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City when he attempted to take his own life on July 23.

In that attempt Epstein was found with neck injuries after he apparently tried to hang himself and was moved to suicide watch at the prison.

Two weeks later Epstein succeeded in killing himself in his cell on August 10.

On Wednesday Swergold said: ‘It is our understanding that the video no longer exists…it was not preserved.’

A judge told prosecutors Wednesday to look further as to how the footage disappeared.

Epstein’s cellmate at the time Nick Tartaglione, who was awaiting trial for four counts of murder, had formally requested that video be preserved two days after the suicide attempt as evidence.

‘I don’t know the details of how it was lost or destroyed or why it wasn’t retained when it should have been,’ Tartaglione’s lawyer Bruce Barket said Wednesday.

On Thursday upon the discovery of the footage, he said, ‘We look forward to seeing it.’

Tartaglione, a former cop, was accused of attacking Epstein the night of July 23. But he claimed he tried to save Epstein from his suicide attempt.

‘We want to be sure that all the evidence is preserved to show that Nick behaved appropriately and even admirably that evening,’ Barket said in court in Wednesday,

‘We asked for all the video and photographic evidence to be preserved, specifically this surveillance video. Now it’s gone,’ he added.

Barket noted that Tartgalione has still not been questioned about Epstein’s suicide.

Maurene Comey was also involved in the P. Diddy case where he was not charged with any of the sex trafficking charges against him.

Israel launched strikes against Houthi port facilities on Sunday after the Houthis attacked a Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned bulk carrier ship called Magic Seas. It was the first Houthi pirate attack against a civilian vessel in the Red Sea this year.

The Houthis hit the Magic Seas with small arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades, missiles, and bomb-laden drone boats. The ship’s armed security team fought back as long as they could, but eventually, the Magic Seas caught fire and began taking on water, forcing the crew to abandon ship.

Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree took responsibility for the terror attack on Monday, claiming the ship was targeted because it has visited Israeli ports in the past. The Houthis have said they intend to “blockade” Israel until it halts military operations in Gaza.

Trump on Monday announced new duty rates on several of America’s trading partners, in letters addressed to leaders of the affected countries – including South Africa. He said the Pretoria-Washington relationship has been “unfortunately, far from reciprocal,” and declared that “any and all” products from the country would be subject to a “tariff of only 30%” starting August 1, “separate from all sectoral tariffs.”

The US leader claimed the levies were needed to offset years of South African trade barriers and policies, which he blamed for “unsustainable trade deficits” against the US.

“These tariffs may be modified, upward or downward, depending on our relationship with your country,” Trump said in the letter shared on Truth Social.

Last week the Polish government announced the reintroduction of border checks to maintain controls through at least August 5.

Poland has accused Germany, which imposed similar controls in late 2023, of sending asylum seekers back across its border. Local Polish community groups have responded with so-called “citizen patrols” to prevent eastbound migrant movement, adding political pressure on the government to act.

With 65 checkpoints now active – some working around the clock – officials say the mission is labor-intensive and requires additional personnel through what the military calls Operation Secure West.

According to Polska Zbrojna, the official magazine of the Defense Ministry, the deployment includes 500 troops from the Territorial Defense Forces and 200 military police officers, assisting roughly 800 Border Guard personnel. A 20-year-old woman and curler from B.C. has been left paralyzed by a rare neurological condition called transverse myelitis.

The story of Brook Aleksic has been shared on fundraising website GoFundMe. Aleksic’s former curling coach, Diane Dezura, an Olympic bronze medalist in the sport, organized the fundraiser. As of Monday, it was around $6,000 shy of its $100,000 goal.

Aleksic was working at a golf course in Saskatchewan for the summer while living with family when she suddenly “lost all movement and sensation from the chest down,” according to her GoFundMe.

“Her onset was rapid and severe,” says the fundraising site. “She can’t move her legs, sit up, or care for herself. The damage to her spinal cord is extensive. While there is hope for some recovery, her path will be long, uncertain and expensive.” Continue…

Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces are among four people facing terrorism charges in Quebec for allegedly plotting an anti-government militia.

At least three of the four are accused of taking “concrete actions to facilitate terrorist activity,” including a plot “to forcibly take possession of land in the Québec City area,” according to the RCMP.

The alleged target was not specified, but it was not a government facility or a political landmark, the RCMP told National Post. It was described more as land that could be used to build their group or use as a base to start a “new society.”

“They took part in military-style training, as well as shooting, ambush, survival, and navigation exercises. They also conducted a scouting operation. A variety of firearms, some prohibited, as well as high-capacity magazines and tactical equipment were allegedly used in these activities,” the RCMP said in a written release Tuesday morning.

The group was active as far back as 2021, at a time of COVID pandemic travel restrictions and vaccination rollouts. The RCMP investigation began in March 2023, RCMP Staff Sgt. Camille Habel, with the RCMP’s national security team in Quebec, said in an interview.

Marc-Aurèle Chabot, 24, of Québec City, Simon Angers-Audet, 24, of Neuville and Raphaël Lagacé, 25, of Québec City, face a charge of knowingly facilitating a terrorist activity, with a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison.

Matthew Forbes, 33, of Pont-Rouge, faces charges including possession of firearms, prohibited devices and explosives, and possession of controlled items. Forbes faces charges under the Defence Production Act, which regulates military procurement and access to military or national security goods. Habel confirmed some of the equipment involved was sourced from Canada’s Department of National Defence but would not say whether that included firearms. Continue…
