Trump's Thursday call with Putin yielded no fresh progress on ending the war, but it did result in anger and tensions among European allies, and certainly wasn't received well by Zelensky.

In a message posted on X on Friday, Sikorski urged Trump to resume the supply of anti-aircraft ammunition to Ukraine amid record-setting numbers of drones sent against the country this week. He also accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of "mocking" US-led peace efforts.

Zelensky suggested something similar, painting a picture that Trump is still getting 'played' by the Russian leader, who has no authentic intent to end the war.

Another heat event will return to most of southern Ontario this weekend, according to a warning issued by Environment Canada.

The federal agency has issued a heat warning for July 5 to 6 as humidex values are expected make it feel like 40 degrees across southern Ontario.

The heat event will span from Windsor to Peterborough, including the Greater Toronto Area, London, Kitchener, Niagara Falls, Guelph, Wasaga Beach, Barrie, Durham region, and the Kawartha Lakes, according to the heat warning alert that was last updated around 12 p.m. on July 4.

Environment Canada expects daytime highs to reach between 31 and 33 degrees, with a humidex value making it feel like 40 degrees. Meanwhile, the night of July 5 is not expected to provide relief from the heat as temperatures are only expected to drop to between 21 and 25 degrees.

The heat event is expected to last for most of the weekend before coming to an end on the night of July 6.

Environment Canada advises to plan outdoor activities for the coolest parts of the day and to limit direct exposure to sun and heat. Additionally, wearing lightweight, light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing can help to stay cool when outdoors. Continue…

A judge of the Ontario Court of Justice has ordered the RCMP and TD Bank to produce records relating to the freezing of a man’s bank accounts during the 2022 Freedom Convoy protest, according to the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, which is involved in the case.

Evan Blackman was arrested in Ottawa during the protest against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and pandemic restrictions on Feb. 18, 2022. He was charged with mischief and obstruction but was acquitted in October 2023. However, the Crown appealed the acquittal in 2024 and a new trial is set to begin on Aug. 14, 2025.

As part of the federal government’s invocation of the Emergencies Act, Blackman also had his bank accounts frozen for over a week. The federal government invoked the act on Feb. 14 to give law enforcement expanded powers to arrest demonstrators, freeze the bank accounts of some protesters, and require towing companies to remove protesters’ vehicles from Ottawa’s downtown core.

Blackman’s lawyers are seeking the records concerning the freezing of his accounts to support an application under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms at the upcoming retrial.

Constitutional lawyer Chris Fleury told The Epoch Times that they are requesting these records to prove that the freezing of Blackman’s bank accounts was “a very serious violation of the Section 8 rights, and it warrants the stay of proceedings.”

The Justice Centre noted that the judge’s ruling for TD Bank and the RCMP is likely the first criminal case in Canada involving a proposed Charter application based on the freezing of personal bank accounts under the Emergencies Act. Continue…
