Fireworks facility burning in Esparto, with smoke plume seen from miles away
ESPARTO, Calif. —
Fire crews are battling a fire at a fireworks facility in Yolo County, according to Cal Fire. A large plume of black smoke can be seen from miles away.
Crews responded to the fire along County Road 23 just before 6 p.m.
Cal Fire crews who were responding to a fire in Vacaville told KCRA 3 that they saw the smoke plume and began directing personnel that way.
The Winters Police Department said it was investigating the cause of large explosions near Esparto.
Reporter Andres Valle was responding to the fire. He said officials pushed them back for safety and a number of pops could be heard.
LiveCopter 3 was over the area and a number of fireworks could be seen going off amid the flames. The fire appeared to spark additional spot fires.
