Most will never recognize this pattern or live in an area where this holds true, but there is a tactic that is used every now and then that people should be aware of, which will indicate who they are. Just like a dog that shows it's teeth, or growls beforehand, which may or may not lead to an actual bite, as it is generally used as a copycat technique to intimidate, but is surely based on a percentage of real threats. It is called the "Notoriety Tactic". It is usually an employee of an establishment that will state something to the affect of: Do you know who owns this business? And then they drop a name of a connected family or member. The people who do this feel they are also connected and protected and wield whatever power they perceive also to intimidate. Whether the owners would risk exposure or participate in little spats is indeterminate, but there remains a true potential or previous history, which is testified to by the employee because it is not just learned behavior but based upon some type of information whether primary or secondary.
