Kelley was convicted of 11 criminal counts by a jury as part of a several-day trial in November 2024. U.S. District Judge Thomas Varlan, a George W. Bush appointee, handed down Kelley’s life sentence.

In ‘victim impact statements’ read before the court, assembled FBI agents said they now lived their life in fear and terror, having to install security systems, and would live the rest of their lives in fear because Kelley had made a list with their names on it in an encrypted app.

The DOJ’s case against Kelley rests on private conversations, video messages, and a so-called “kill list” that prosecutors allege he created. But even the government admitted Kelley never took concrete steps to carry out any violence.

Every person in the Netherlands has so-called “forever chemicals” in their blood, often at levels above health safety limits, according to the findings of the first nationwide study on the issue in an EU country, published on Thursday.

PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a group of human-made chemicals used in products like plastic food wrappers, non-stick cookware, stain-resistant fabrics, cleaning agents, and personal care items. Due to their durability, they break down extremely slowly and can persist in the environment and living organisms for years, hence the nickname “forever chemicals.”

The survey published on Thursday by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), found that “Everyone in the Netherlands has different types of PFAS in the blood. In almost everyone, the amount of PFAS is higher than the health limit value.”

Human exposure typically occurs through contaminated food, drinking water, household products, air, and soil. Studies have linked certain PFAS compounds to health issues such as high cholesterol, infertility, kidney problems, and some cancers.

Though their presence does not guarantee illness, the chemicals may impair the immune system, with the severity of effects depending on the level and duration of exposure, as well as individual health conditions, the institute noted.

The study analyzed around 1,500 blood samples collected between 2016 and 2017, and RIVM confirmed it is currently examining samples from 2025 to assess recent exposure trends.

While PFAS are known for persisting in the body, they can gradually disappear over time, the institute noted, stressing the need to reduce daily intake.

Similar studies have been conducted in the US, Canada, and Australia, revealing widespread exposure across various populations.

By the late 1990s, his company Humanwell Healthcare had gone public and eventually captured over 90% of China’s opioid painkiller market.

Dangdai Group, the holding company, expanded into multiple industries, acquiring six publicly traded firms and betting heavily on sectors with strong regulation where Ai believed private firms could thrive.

Caixin writes that ambition overtook caution. By 2017, Dangdai had racked up over 30 billion yuan in debt, relying on financial engineering and aggressive expansion. Real estate projects stalled, and fixed-income products issued by its subsidiaries began defaulting, affecting thousands of retail investors. “If there’s a chance, I’d like to start over,” Ai told old friends at a private dinner in early 2025.

A major misstep came from Dangdai’s move into finance. After acquiring Tianfeng Securities in 2002, Ai hoped it would fund his industrial growth. “I saw big international conglomerates tied closely to finance and thought owning financial institutions would help our industrial growth,” he later said. “I didn’t realize industry and finance should develop separately.”

Tianfeng expanded quickly under Ai’s protégé Yu Lei, but internal loans and circular funding created a dangerous debt loop between Tianfeng and Dangdai.

Covid alert! New 'super-contagious Frankenstein' variant has rocketed four-fold in just a month…experts warn it could be most infectious yet

A new Covid variant dubbed 'Stratus' has soared to dominance in the UK, with experts warning it could drive a wave of new infections.

Stratus—scientifically known as XFG—is thought to be more infectious than previous Covid strains due to mutations that help it evade the immune system.

Now, data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), shows Stratus has now become the dominant Covid strain in England.

The variant has gone from accounting for about 10 per cent of all Covid cases in May to almost 40 per cent three weeks later in mid-June.

Stratus—a descendent of the already super virulent Omicron—is what is known as a Frankenstein or 'recombinant' strain.

This means it emerged when a person was infected with two Covid strains at once which then became a new hybrid variant.

Professor Lawrence Young, a virologist at Warwick University, told MailOnline both two strains of Stratus—the original XFG and spin off called XFG.3— are 'rapidly spreading'.

'The increased competitiveness of XFG and XFG.3 is likely due to new spike mutations which make these variants more able to evade the immune response,' he said.

'Given that immunity to Covid is waning in the population due to a decline in uptake of the spring booster jab and the reduction of Covid infections in recent months, more people will be susceptible to infection with XFG and XFG.3.

'This could lead to a new wave of infection but it’s difficult to predict the extent of this wave.'

However, he added that there is currently no evidence Stratus causes more severe illness and getting a Covid vaccine was 'very likely' to offer protection from severe illness and hospitalisation.

WA Health issues urgent warning after reports wrong vaccine jabs given to patients by medical staff

An urgent warning has been issued by one Aussie health authority after medical staff reportedly gave the wrong RSV immunisations to patients.

Medical staff in Western Australia have been warned after reports of the wrong immunisations being given to patients.

The West Australian reports a vaccine update was sent to medical offices in the western state on Thursday reminding staff to make sure they are giving patients the right jab for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

“It is essential to check the correct RSV immunisation product is being given prior to administration,” WA Health said.

“Recent reporting to the Australian Immunisation Register and Western Australia Vaccine Safety Surveillance System has indicated that some Respiratory Syncytial Virus immunisation products have been administered incorrectly.”
