FarmWifeAnon, you find out really fast when you try to go organic that you are in a tiny minority. I stopped going to any 'farmer' events a couple of years back. It all started when another farmer saw my drum of Axxe herbicide and several of horticultural vinegar. Next meeting I went to felt like a verbal lynching. Never went back again. Two of the 5 feed stores will NOT order Axxe or vinegar for me - they just say none of their suppliers carry it.
I got one Deere tractor converted to a backhoe, and it is a 1943 model. I don't buy Deere because of the stupid computer/warranty setup they have now. In fact, it's cheaper for me to buy a busted tractor from 1960-1980 and rebuild than buy new, and the parts are cheaper.
Go your own way - the plants will tell you what works, as will the animals around the farm.
