Moscow dismisses US media’s Putin-Iran nuclear claim

Axios earlier reported that after the Israel-Iran war the Russian president privately backed a deal with zero Iranian uranium enrichment

Moscow has dismissed a US media report claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin urged Iran to accept a nuclear deal that would strip it of the right to enrich uranium, calling it a dirty ploy to stoke tensions in the region.

In a statement on Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry slammed Western outlets as a “tool” in the hands of the political establishment and “deep state,” which it said does not hesitate to resort to any means, including provocative acts and “fake news.”

Russian officials singled out the US outlet Axios, which it described as a “toilet tank” that consistently spreads targeted disinformation, mentioning in particular its recent article titled “Scoop: Putin urges Iran to take ‘zero enrichment’ nuclear deal with US, sources say.”

The Axios story, the ministry said, was “apparently yet another dirty, politicized campaign launched with the aim of escalating tensions around Iran’s nuclear program.” It also reiterated that Moscow’s position remains that the crisis around Iran’s nuclear program should be resolved “exclusively by political and diplomatic means.”

On Friday, Axios reported, citing European and Israeli officials, that Putin told both US President Donald Trump and officials in Tehran following the 12-day Israel-Iran war that he would support a nuclear deal involving “zero enrichment.”

One European official told the paper that Putin encouraged Tehran to move in this direction in order to aid talks with Washington, but noted that the Iranians declined to consider the idea.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency, citing sources, reported that Tehran had received no such messages from Putin.

The US has insisted that Iran commit to zero enrichment as part of a potential nuclear deal, a demand Tehran has dismissed as unacceptable, explaining it needs such capacity for its civilian nuclear program. Iran also maintains it has no plans to create a nuclear bomb.

Italian governor defies EU calls to cancel Russian concert

Brussels has pressured Vincenzo De Luca to ban a performance by Valery Gergiev due to the conductor’s stance on the Ukraine conflict

Vincenzo De Luca, the governor of the Italian region of Campania, has refused to cancel a performance by Valery Gergiev despite pressure from EU officials, who have criticized the renowned Russian conductor for his stance on the Ukraine conflict.

Gergiev is scheduled to perform at the Un’Estate da RE festival in Caserta on July 27, alongside the Philharmonic Orchestra of Salerno and soloists from Russia’s Mariinsky Theater.

The announcement of his performance sparked a backlash in Brussels. European Parliament Vice President Pina Picierno has called for Gergiev to be replaced, accusing De Luca of “financing a supporter of a criminal regime” by inviting the conductor. European Commission spokeswoman Eva Hrncirova also chimed in, warning European venues against hosting individuals “who justify Kremlin aggression.”

In a series of statements on social media,De Luca rejected calls to ban the Russian conductor.

“Culture and art are spaces where dialogue can flourish and the values of human solidarity can take root,” he wrote, adding that “Campania is a region of unity” which has always promoted “encounters between people of diverse sensibilities.”

In a separate video address, he spoke out against mixing politics and culture.“The world of culture, art, and sports must remain free from politics and political agendas. It should be a space where dialogue, solidarity, and mutual understanding among people and nations can grow,” he said, adding that he will not cancel the performance.

Picierno renewed her attacks on De Luca and Gergiev on Friday, calling it unacceptable to host people who back the Kremlin. Nevertheless, the concert will go ahead as planned, Italian media and the BBC reported on Saturday, citing sources close to the organizers and the conductor’s spokesman.

Gergiev, one of Russia’s most acclaimed musicians, was ousted from the Munich Philharmonic and banned across the West in 2022 after refusing to denounce Russia’s military operation against the Kiev regime. Carnegie Hall, the Met Opera, and other major venues also canceled performances by Gergiev and other Russian artists with any public ties to Moscow’s policies regarding Ukraine. Moscow has condemned the bans as Russophobic censorship, saying efforts to “cancel” Russian culture will fail.

This is good because Benz says if and probably was recruited by IC it was probably to get info to give it to IC for them to blackmail of the target. That why he thinks it’s stupid to find blackmail material he collected.

Benz has a whole different take and why in essence the DOJ don’t know how it works in the IC community and why they denied blackmail evidence. He says Epstein since he was working with very rich clients, he turned that info over to IC to run with it. He said it would be totally stupid for Epstein to do the blackmail because the millionaire or billionaire clients would tell all their friends don’t work with Epstein and he’d lose everyone he supposedly gave financial advice to.

So that makes me wonder when he invited people to the Island, he was collecting info that he gave info to the spy agencies received, that gave the data to come down on them. It makes sense because people took multiple trips to the Island, if they were blackmailed after the first time, they wouldn’t come back. Sick to think “children” were inserted by the IC agencies, but not unbelievable

(There was a video on ZeroHedge that a prior agency assert said a similar thing)

Russia-West clash not about ideology – Putin

The standoff is only about geopolitical interests, the Russian president has said

Western nations’ hegemonic aspirations and dismissal of Russia’s security concerns have led to the ongoing standoff between Moscow and the West, President Vladimir Putin said in an interview released on Sunday.Ideological differences are only a pretext to advance the West’s geopolitical interests, he claimed.

Putin added that he expected the collapse of the USSR to alleviate tensions between Russia and the West.

“I also thought that key disagreements [between us] were ideological in nature,” he stated. “Yet, when the Soviet Union was gone… the dismissive approach to Russia’s strategic interests persisted.”

The president went on to say that his attempts to raise Russia’s concerns with Western leaders were in vain. “The West decided… they do not need to follow the rules when it comes to Russia, which does not have the same power as the USSR.”

All of Moscow’s proposals regarding mutual security, strengthening international stability, and reaching agreements on offensive weapons and missile defense were rejected,Putin said. “It was not just negligence. It was based on a clear desire to reach some geopolitical goals.”

“It has become clear that, unless Russia positions itself as an independent sovereign nation… we will not be reckoned with,” he added.

The Russian president has accused Western nations of betraying Russia and not fulfilling their promises. Last month, he said Moscow was “blatantly lied to” about NATO expansion for decades as the US-led military bloc approached Russia’s borders.

“Everything was good as long as it was against Russia,” he said at the time, adding that Western nations have supported separatism and even terrorism directed against the country.

Moscow has listed Kiev’s NATO ambitions and Western military assistance to Ukraine key reasons behind the Ukraine conflict. Prior to the escalation in early 2022, Russia sought to address its security concerns by seeking guarantees from US and NATO, as well as non-aligned status for Ukraine, which were rejected by the West.

Pentagon pressuring Japan and Australia over China – FT

The US has reportedly demanded commitments from its allies in the event of a war over Taiwan

The Pentagon is pressuring key US allies in the Indo-Pacific – Japan and Australia – to clarify their positions in the event of a war with China over Taiwan, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

Beijing views Taiwan as part of its territory according to the One-China principle, and insists on eventual reunification. While the US officially acknowledges Chinese sovereignty over the self-governing island, it continues to supply Taipei with weapons.

US Under Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby has for months been pushing Japanese and Australian military officials to prepare for a potential conflict, the outlet wrote, citing anonymous sources.

“Concrete operational planning and exercises that have direct application to a Taiwan contingency are moving forward with Japan and Australia,” the FT cited one of its sources as saying. “But this request caught Tokyo and Canberra by surprise because the US itself does not give a blank check guarantee to Taiwan.”

According to Colby, the Defense Department is focused on US President Donald Trump’s agenda of “restoring deterrence and achieving peace through strength.” However, “some among [Washington’s] allies might not welcome frank conversations,” Colby wrote on X on Saturday.

Australian Defense Industry Minister Pat Conroy refused to “engage in hypotheticals”when asked to comment on reports of US pressure over China. Canberra has “the sole power to commit Australia to war or to allow our territory to be used for a conflict,” he told ABC on Sunday.

Tensions in the Taiwan Strait have risen since Taiwan elected pro-independence President Lai Ching-te last year. Trump has reengaged China in a trade war since taking office, although the escalation has somewhat subsided after Washington and Beijing settled a rare-earths deal last month.

Contradictions between Russia, West arise from geopolitics, Putin believes

Britain, France, and other former empires, still blame the dismantling of their colonial might on Russia, theRussian president continued adding that he could still sense this historical negative attitude toward his country

MOSCOW, July 13. /TASS/. Contradictions between Russia and the West stem from geopolitics even as it was once believed that the communist ideology of the Soviet Union hampered normal relations, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Many believe, and I thought so, too, <…that contradictions were mostly based on the [Soviet communist] ideology," Putin shared in an interview with VGTRK reporter Pavel Zarubin. However, "disregard for the strategic interests of the Russian Federation has survived" the demise of the Soviet Union, he continued. "And it became obvious to me that the ideology might perhaps play a certain role but that, after all, these contradictions arise from geopolitical interests," the Russian leader concluded.

Meanwhile, Britain, France, and other former empires, still blame the dismantling of their colonial might on Russia, Putin continued adding that he could still sense this historical negative attitude toward his country.

"But the trick is, post WWII, the United States, too, worked with the Soviet Union to demolish those empires, to a certain extent. They worked toward assisting colonies in regaining their independence and sovereignty," the Russian leader explained.

NEW YORK, July 13. /TASS/. Documents of the administration of ex-US President Joe Biden evidencing the abuse of methods of combating the allegedly present domestic extremists will be declassified soon, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said.

"These are documents that we will be declassifying and releasing very soon abouthow on day one of the Biden administration, meaning January 21 of 2021, his National Security Advisor issued a memo essentially laying the groundwork for who they would be targeting as domestic violent extremists," she said when speaking at the conference of the Turning Point USA public organization in Florida.

People that were against restrictions of the COVID pandemic period, parents afraid of involuntary vaccination in schools and the ones disagreeing with actions of the authorities were categorized as domestic extremists, Gabbard said. This label was later used to force tech companies "to censor Americans’ free speech in the name of going after domestic violent extremists," the official said.

Vedomosti: Results of second meeting between top Russian, US diplomats

A second in-person meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after February 18 in Riyadh took place on July 10. It was held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur and lasted almost 50 minutes.

Following the meeting, Rubio, reiterating US President Donald Trump, expressed displeasure with the course of talks on settling the Ukraine conflict. However, he emphasized that the conversation was important and sincere while he discussed several ideas with his Russian colleague, including those related to "a different approach" for Moscow in settling the crisis.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported the talks’ results in a statement on its website. In particular, the two officials "reaffirmed mutual commitment to searching for peaceful solutions to conflict situationsand resuming Russian-US economic and humanitarian cooperation and unhindered ties between their countries’ societies."

When trying to guess what Rubio meant by "a different approach," then formally this may be, for example, the content of Russia’s draft memorandum submitted to Ukraine last month, said Nikolay Silayev, senior research fellow at the Institute for International Studies of MGIMO University.

"Lavrov and Rubio have not met since the last round of the Istanbul talks. And in Kuala Lumpur, they quite possibly could have discussed the Russian draft memorandum in person," the expert said.

The meeting between Lavrov and Rubio is important but hardly decisive, Silayev added. With this meeting, the US confirmed that it is interested in continuing talks with Russia, even though it does not want to facilitate the Kiev regime fulfilling the terms put forth by Moscow. "Main events are unfolding at the frontline, while decisive meetings between diplomats are still ahead," he concluded.

Vedomosti: Trump ramps up rhetoric toward Russia while aiming to avoid irreversible confrontation

US President Donald Trump stated on July 8 that he was "displeased with Putin," responding to questions from journalists.

Trump also emphasized his personal readiness to consider imposing new sanctions on Russia. When referring to these potential new restrictions, he was presumably alluding to the sanctions bill proposed by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (designated by Russia as a terrorist and extremist).

The draft bill, introduced in April, includes primary and secondary sanctions against Russia should it refuse to agree to a ceasefire, as well as the introduction of 500% tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil, gas, uranium, and other energy resources.

Experts interviewed by Vedomosti believe Trump’s sharpened rhetoric serves both to project strength to his domestic audience and to maintain leverage over Russia, while he cautiously avoids committing to direct confrontation.

Since returning to the White House on January 20, Trump has never ruled out the possibility of taking a tougher approach in managing relations with Russia. He threatened new sanctions in March and again in late May, and on several occasions hinted at the possibility of withdrawing from the negotiation process. The latest uptick in rhetoric became noticeable following his sixth official phone call with Vladimir Putin on July 3. Already on July 8, Trump had stated that he would continue supplying Kiev with defensive weaponry.

Trump’s harsher tone remains largely symbolic for nowas he seeks to avoid being portrayed as weak, Deputy Director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS) at the Higher School of Economics Dmitry Suslov told the newspaper.

This stance likely does not imply a sharp increase in arms deliveries. "He would prefer this to remain Biden’s war, rather than becoming Trump’s war," the expert noted. However, should the US supply Kiev with a new Patriot missile battery, one not included in the aid packages approved under Biden, this conflict would then become Trump’s conflict, the expert added.

If Congress passes Graham’s bill, the administration’s key concern will be ensuring that its enforcement is not mandatory for the president. "It must remain a stick he can use for pressure, rather than a tool he is compelled to wield, as he fears collapsing the fragile dialogue with Russia," Suslov emphasized.

There are several reasons why a shift toward harsher confrontation may occur, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences Pavel Koshkin believes. These include sending a signal of strength to the domestic audience, acknowledging the complexity of the conflict itself, and the growing influence of hardliners within the administration.

Nezavisimaya Gazeta: EU may begin accession talks with Ukraine this fall, but membership by 2030 remains uncertain

The European Union will be technically prepared this fall to open all negotiation clusters for Ukraine’s accession to the bloc, according to European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.However, she gave a more cautious assessment regarding the possibility of Ukraine joining the EU by 2030.

Experts interviewed by Nezavisimaya Gazetanoted that the negotiation process could drag on for many years, as Ukraine, in its current state, is not ready to join the Union. They also reminded that, despite the commissioner’s assurances to the contrary, even the decisionto open the first negotiation cluster requires unanimous approval from all EU member states, including Hungary.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban recently reiterated his opposition to Ukraine’s membership, arguing that its integration into the EU would also mean incorporating the ongoing military conflict.

At the same time, the media quoted Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna as saying that Hungary does not have the authority to block the launch of negotiations with Kiev.

Representatives from both Brussels and Kiev appear to have overplayed their positions, Professor at the Department of European Studies of the Faculty of International Relations at Saint Petersburg State University Stanislav Tkachenko told the newspaper. As is well known, he continued, each stage of the accession negotiations with a candidate country requires the unanimous consentof all EU member states.

"It is possible that the necessary decision to launch negotiations has already been prepared in Brussels. But it will be a political decision. Meanwhile, the practical discussions on Ukraine’s subsequent accession, due to its evident lack of readiness and non-compliance with European standards, could be postponed for many years. I believe that, acting as a responsible organization, the European Union will refrain from accelerating Ukraine’s transition from negotiations to full membership without a solid foundation," Tkachenko concluded.

At the same time, he emphasized that if the EU leadership’s current proposal toestablish a 100-bln-euro fund to support Ukraine is incorporated into the bloc’s budget for the next seven years, this would mark a transition toward direct financing of Kiev from core budgetary sources, including tax revenues. This, in turn, would likely facilitate the European Commission’s future decisions of a similar nature.

https://tass.com/pressreview/1987649

This will drag on for years and eventually the EU will no have an interest in Ukraine, it will be perpetual welfare state, or Ukraine will be their Mafia, they use against EU members
