Crowds on Demand CEO Adam Swart revealed in an interview this week that his company was offered a $20 million contract for an astroturfed nationwide anti-Trump demonstration scheduled for Thursday.

Crowds on Demand is the “largest protest company in the country,” Swart said, noting that they specialize in corporate publicity and celebrity publicity. “We’re probably best known for political advocacy group publicity, that is, creating crowds of peaceful, enthusiastic demonstrators to turn out in favor of a particular cause or in opposition to one.

Czechia’s possible adoption of the euro in the future may emerge as an issue in the upcoming parliamentary elections this October.

While most parties in the current governing coalition have expressed support for adopting the common European currency, the opposition ANO movement — widely expected to win the largest share of the vote — remains firmly opposed.

ANO leader Andrej Babiš has repeatedly dismissed the euro as economically dangerous and politically unwise. “I do not support it,” he said bluntly, warning that if the current coalition retained power, “they will introduce the euro.”

He argued that adopting the euro would lead to higher prices and force Czechia to take on the financial liabilities of heavily indebted eurozone members. Instead, he advocates keeping the Czech crown, following the example of wealthy non-euro EU states such as Denmark and Sweden.

Czechia committed to adopting the euro when it joined the European Union in 2004, but remains one of only three countries from that enlargement round — alongside Poland and Hungary — that have yet to join.

Other opposition parties are similarly critical. Kateřina Konečná of the far-left STAČILO! movement said, “The euro means higher prices,” citing Croatia’s experience. “I am against giving up the Czech crown, which would, among other things, give up another part of our sovereignty.” Her party has called for any future decision to be made by referendum.

Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS), has successfully re-entered the Earth's atmosphere and splashed down on Tuesday, SpaceX has said.

Following the splashdown of the Crew Dragon Grace spacecraft in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California, boats were quickly deployed to recover the astronauts, and a ground team conducted medical checks to assess their condition. Shukla, a group captain of the Indian Air Force, was the pilot of a four-member Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) crew, which has begun the re-acclimatization process.

The return marked the conclusion of an 18-day research mission on the ISS. The crew spent over two weeks on the ISS, carrying out more than 60 scientific experiments in areas such as agriculture, medicine, water systems, and human physiology in microgravity. 2 Ontario Teachers Allege They Were Fired for Not Supporting LGBT Celebrations, Launch Legal Challenge

Two Ontario teachers are challenging their dismissal with a human rights complaint against the school board, alleging they were fired for not supporting LGBT events.

Matt and Nicole Alexander were long-term employees of the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) when they were suspended, and later fired, in 2023, according to the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF).

The couple says their troubles started in 2022 when their son, Josh, became vocal about gender identity ideology in his school.

Josh Alexander was in Grade 11 at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School operated by the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB). He was suspended in 2022 for sharing his views that there are only two genders. The school also said that Josh organized a student walkout in protest of biological boys being allowed to use the girls’ washroom. RCCDSB alleged that Josh had been bullying students in the school. The suspension was later changed to an “exclusion,” which has the same effect but is considered non-disciplinary.

Following Josh’s suspension, Matt Alexander was suspended from his Grade 7 and 8 teaching positions in April 2023 over social media posts made about him. He did not have any public social media accounts at the time, JCCF said. The organization did not elaborate on the content of the social media posts.

Nicole Alexander was suspended a few weeks later, after she moved a pride poster taped to the front door of her kindergarten classroom in May 2023, JCCF said. The organization said that the poster was placed there without her consent and she moved it to a classroom cabinet. Continue…

Hijacking at Vancouver Airport: Suspect Arrested by Police

Police say a hijacked plane at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) led to delays and flights being diverted Tuesday afternoon.

According to Richmond RCMP, a Cessna 172— small passenger aircraft— was hijacked from the Vancouver Island area and entered near YVR airspace.

Victoria International Airport said the aircraft was operated by the Victoria Flying Club, and the incident was “safely resolved” with the individual involved arrested by the RCMP.

Online flight path data for the light aircraft shows it taking off from Victoria’s airport and landing in Vancouver at 1:43 p.m., after circling around YVR airspace several times.

In a July 15 email to The Epoch Times, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Melissa Lui said Richmond RCMP, the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, and RCMP Air Services were immediately deployed. “Communication was established with YVR Emergency Operation Center to ensure a coordinated response focused on the safety and security of all involved.”

In a YVR air-traffic recording at about 1:26 p.m. local time, an air traffic controller alerted other aircraft, warning them to “continue looking out the window” for the small plane “in case anything starts heading towards you.” Continue…

‘Project Ghost’: Police Arrest 13 Members of ‘Organized Criminal Network’ Accused of Home Invasions

Police have arrested 13 suspects in a violent crime ring alleged to have committed over 15 break-ins and thefts in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

On July 15, Peel Regional Police’s Central Robbery Bureau announced 197 charges against the suspects as part of “Project Ghost,” accusing them of stealing approximately $1.8 million worth of goods and committing multiple violent crimes.

According to police, “Project Ghost” was formed last August after police established links between various crimes scenes in the GTA.

In one incident, three individuals tried to break into a home in Brampton, Ont., and fled the scene after failing to get in. Police say the suspects then headed to another home, arriving about half an hour later and demanding the keys to a Mercedes-Benz. Despite complying with the demands, three of the individuals targeted in the robbery were stabbed, one of whom was severely wounded near his heart. All three suspects were eventually arrested for the robberies.

Another criminal incident in September of last year, where a motorist was shot and severely injured in Mississauga, resulted in the arrest of two suspects who were hit with attempted murder charges. Police linked the suspects to those who had committed the August attempted break-in and stabbing.

“The project was able to link the shooting and home invasions to the same criminal group, along with other home invasions and luxury vehicle and jewelry thefts across Peel and Halton. Evidence from seized phones and an accused’s statement connected the network to 13 additional incidents and identified the culprits involved,” police say. Continue…

Officers with Canada’s border service confiscated nearly $50 million worth of cannabis destined for the United Kingdom this summer, the largest marijuana seizure the agency has recorded since 2015.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at the Port of Saint John in New Brunswick intercepted a shipment of more than 6,700 kilograms of cannabis linked to organized crime operating across national boundaries, the agency said in a July 14 press release. Officers at the Saint John container examination facility are responsible for examining all “high-risk” containers and cargo arriving and leaving Canada via the port.

The drugs, worth an estimated $49.6 million, were found concealed in nearly 400 cardboard boxes inside a marine container, the border agency said. The drugs were falsely declared on the documentation provided to the CBSA and were destined for export to Scotland at the end of May.

“Illegal cannabis helps fuel transnational organized crime,” Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said in the press release. “This seizure demonstrates our continued commitment to fight it and keep our borders strong and secure.”

The amount of drugs seized in this shipment is three times greater than the total amount of cannabis confiscated by the CBSA across Canada in the previous year, the agency said.

It noted that while marijuana is legal in Canada, smuggling it is not. Continue…
