> get converted to electronic ignition as a rotor and points are highly unreliable and electronic ignition will last far longer and requires far less tuning.
Grow up and get a Joe Hunt Magneto. I've run hot rods for 50 years on the street with them. The big payoff? The assholes with their stereos that pull up next to you hear nothing but the mag. Glorious.
I have a complete '67 bug (not running) for sale. Inquire within.
>can a cop press a button on his dashboard and shut down an engine with magneto, rotor, and points?
Uh, No.
>Getting hard to get single barrel carbs and rebuild kits
That's why they invented Man-A-Fre. Sold thousands of them in the day.
>You like to jump straight to the electronic ignition modification and racing parts, then turn your 10k car into 100k
Sorry you missed the point. My farm trucks are '85 6.9 IDI and "93 7.3 IDI. My daily driver was a '78 Ford Supercab until I gave it to the hired help. Ran the '67 bug for 30 years.
Joe hunt magnetos and Man-A-Fre kits eliminate electronics, diaphragms, points, condensors, accelerator pumps…….repair parts almost altogether. They simplify and make more reliable the two most vulnerable and high maintenance elements of vehicles………Induction and Ignition.
The only "electronics" in any of my vehicles are the am/fm radios. I can park them on a hill and start/run them with a dead battery. I even went back to generators as they don't have diodes. I can troubleshoot everything with a trouble light, a Joe Hunt buzzer flashlight and a simple voltmeter.
My vehicles work for me and are not for sale at any price. One is at the mine all summer and one is on the farms year around. The bug put all the kids thru high school, then I drove it 30 years more. I watch Barret Jackson and cringe at the things they do.
