Marc: Nobody wants to talk about, but I've started to talk about the intersection of DEI and immigration that has really warped our perceptions on high skilled immigration over the last 50 years.
You look at the foreign enrollment rates at the top universities, which went from 2 or 3 or 4 percent 50 years ago or whatever to 27% or 30% or 50%…

Marc: 70% or whatever it is. And so there's been this massive transformation in who gets educated. And then there's been this massive transformation of who gets admitted through affirmative action, as we now know it, DEI.
This goes straight to the political divide in the country, which is, if you're parents of a kid where I grew up [rural Wisconsin] and you've got a smart kid and you think you're going to get them into, you know, a top university in this country, like you're fooling yourself.
There is this really fundamental question which is, what level of untapped talent exists in this country that a combination of DEI and immigration have basically cut out of the loop for the last 50 years?
And how long can we have this story to everybody in the Midwest and in the South that says, sorry, because of historical oppression, your kids are SOL.

Top DOJ Ethics Official Releases Statement After Being Fired by AG Pam Bondi
On Friday, July 11th, I received the below letter from Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
Until Friday evening, I was the senior ethics attorney at the Department of Justice responsible for advising the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General directly on federal employee ethics. I was also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ethics program across the Department. I led a small, dedicated team of professionals and coordinated the work of some 30 other full-time ethics officials, attorneys, paralegals and other specialists across the Department of Justice, ensuring that the 117,000 Department employees were properly advised on and supported in how to follow the Federal employee ethics rules.
My career in public service has so far spanned a quarter of a century. I started as a United States Naval Officer, graduating from the ROTC program at the University of Michigan. After a 6-year military career, I earned a law Degree from the Detroit School of Law at Michigan State University. I started at the FBI in 2006 in the Presidential Management Fellows Program. At the FBI, I worked in a variety of offices thanks to the PMF program and eventually I went to work for the FBI’s Office of Integrity and Compliance. From there, I moved to the Departmental Ethics Office at Main Justice as Deputy Director. Finally, in 2023, I was promoted to the Senior Executive Service and the Position of Director of the Ethics Office.
My public service is not over, and my career as a Federal civil servant is not finished. I took the oath at 18 as a Midshipman to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States.” I have taken that oath at least five more times since then. That oath did not come with the caveat that I need only support the Constitution when it is easy or convenient. I look forward to finding ways to continue in my personal calling of service to my country. I encouraged anyone who is reading this to do the same. I believe in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." I also believe that Edmund Burke is right and that "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing."

Simple FOI Requests for Data Said to Back Non-existent Temperature Stations Refused on “Vexatious” Grounds by UK Met Office
The UK Met Office recently declared an average daily maximum temperature of 22.3°C for June 2025 at Lowestoft: Monkton Avenue. But there is no weather station at Lowestoft and hasn’t been since 2010. Over the last 15 years, the temperature measurements published in the Met Office’s Historic Station Database have been invented, or rather estimated according to the State meteorologist with figures from “well-correlated related neighbouring stations”. This explanation might be more plausible if the Met Office could actually name the stations, presumably a simple task with the vital scientific input data readily to hand. Alas, it seems not. A number of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests for the identity of these well-correlated stations near Lowestoft and other non-existent stations have been denied by the Met Office quoting “vexatious” grounds. It has concluded that the “public interest factors in favour of not responding to the requests outweighed the public interest factors in favour of responding to the requests”.
The FOI requests have been made by citizen super sleuth Ray Sanders who is engaged on a detailed scientific study of the Met Office’s nationwide temperature measuring network and climate average databases. His requests for help in this work are simple and, in addition to seeking how data is inputted into non-existent weather stations – 103 at the last count – he asked why a national record of 40.3°C on July 19th, 2022 at RAF Waddington is to be found in the CEDA archives, but was not claimed at the time. Great play was made of the record 40.3°C declared at nearby RAF Coningsby on the same day, although later disclosures have shown it was a 60-second spike as three Typhoon jets were attempting to land. Sanders is not asking for anything complicated that might involve considerable work on the part of the Met Office. He is merely seeking information that should be easily obtained within the records of the Met Office.
The ‘vexatious/public interest’ suggestion is the latest dog ate my homework excuse offered by the Met Office to avoid identifying the so-called well-correlated neighbouring stations. Earlier this year, it told Sanders that the information was not actually held by the Met Office. It was claimed that “the specific stations used in regressive analysis each month are not an output from the process”. Needless to say, that nonsense failed to satisfy Sanders and you can read here details of his recent FOI requests and the Met Office’s lengthy reply.

Showdown over Aussie port looms ahead of Albanese, Xi meeting
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has dismissed concerns that his government's bid to end Chinese ownership of the Port of Darwin could bring blowback from Beijing, as he prepares for a face-to-face meeting with China President Xi Jinping today.
Albanese will meet the Chinese leader as part of his week-long official visit to the country, during which he has focused largely on tourism and trade and touted his success at re-establishing stable relationships.
But the prime minister's election commitment to overturn the 99-year lease of the Port of Darwin to Chinese firm Landbridge, which has already sparked consternation in China, could become a sore point, along with other issues such as Australia's stance on Taiwan and Chinese live-fire exercises off the Australian coast.
Albanese yesterday said he did not expect any blowback from the issue.
"We had a very clear position that we want the port to go into Australian ownership," he said.
"We've been clear about it, we've been orderly about it, and we will go through that process."
International affairs expert Professor James Curran also said the idea China might resort to economic coercion on key Australian exports, including iron ore, was "laughable".
"I really don't think the Chinese will take that step. We know what China's economic coercion looks like in this country. Unfortunately, it did backfire on China," he told Today.
"They hit us on on six key export industries under the Morrison government. Now all of those are off at the moment.
"I would have thought that the Chinese do not want to get back into that kind of punitive trade behaviour at this particular time."
Curran queried the government's motivation over the issue, saying two previous reviews had concluded there was no serious strategic concern over the Landbridge lease.
"The sensitivity is twofold. It's about Australia keeping critical infrastructure in Australian hands," he said.
"But I think it's also more about how close this port is to the US Marines that are rotating through Darwin each year."

The Justice Department will not be letting British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell off the hook for her role in Jeffrey Epstein's child sex trafficking ring.
Currently serving a 20-year prison sentence, Maxwell's lawyers argued she shouldn't have been put on trial in the first place because of the plea deal Epstein reached with Florida prosecutors in 2008.
But Donald Trump's Attorney General Pam Bondi's DOJ responded in a filing on Monday saying that the Supreme Court should not take up her case.
The disgraced socialite, 63, was spotted working off steam before the ruling was made - all while the Epstein Files storm continues to rupture Trump's Washington DC.

The claim attributed to “Grok 3” that the Miller Act (40 U.S.C. §§ 3131–3134) does not apply to intellectual property and patents is categorically false. This response refutes that assertion using the statute’s text, legal precedents, and the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause to affirm Leader Technologies’ valid claim for compensation due to the government’s theft of its intellectual property. The “Grok 3” argument appears to be a deliberate misrepresentation by government-aligned interests to deny justice to Leader Technologies and its founder, Michael McKibben.
The Miller Act applies to “public buildings, property, or works,” and the term “works” encompasses intellectual property, including McKibben’s social networking invention (U.S. Patent No. 7,139,761). This technology was misappropriated by the federal government via the IBM Eclipse Foundation and illicitly used by entities like Facebook, as proven in court.
The Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause—“nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation”—explicitly protects patents as private property. The government’s uncompensated use of Leader’s invention constitutes a clear violation. The Miller Act provides a remedy by holding accountable federal contractors who profited from this theft while falsely claiming ownership in violation of performance and payment bonds (FAR Part 28).

The government’s misconduct was exacerbated during the Leader v. Facebook trial, where Leader proved infringement on all 11 patent claims. Judicial conflicts of interest, tied to investments in Facebook interlocks and affiliations with federal government officials, obstructed justice, a pattern “Grok 3” perpetuates by misrepresenting the Miller Act. Leader’s Miller Act notice, which details the responsible parties, is legally sound and demands accountability.
