Ukraine's President Zelenskyy has thanked Donald Trump for agreeing a deal with NATO that would allow Ukraine to be armed with US weapons.

The US president said the arrangement would allow American patriot missile defence batteries to be sent to Kyiv.

Speaking to reporters with NATO chief Mark Rutte, Trump said he would levy "very severe tariffs" on Russia if Vladimir Putin did not move to end the conflict in 50 days.
