Samuel Bond Haskell IV’s death was announced hours before he was due to appear in court Monday for a preliminary hearing in his murder case, said Lt. Michael Modica of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to KABC.

The suspected killer, 37, appeared to have committed suicide in his cell, with his body discovered Saturday morning, law enforcement sources told NBCLA.

Haskell’s father is an Emmy-winning producer and Hollywood agent, serving high-profile clients including George Clooney, Whoopi Goldberg, Dolly Parton and Kathie Lee Gifford.

In 2023, Haskell was accused of murdering his wife, Mei Li Haskell, 37, and her parents, Gaoshan Li, 72, and 64-year-old Yanxiang Wang, at their home in the Los Angeles suburb of Tarzana.

He tossed their dismembered body parts in an Encino trash bin, where his wife’s remains were later discovered, cops said.

The remains of Haskell’s in-laws have never been recovered and his death has deprived their loved ones of discovering the truth about what happened.

All three family members were last seen alive Nov. 6, 2023.

The next day, Haskell allegedly hired four day laborers to remove several heavy black plastic trash bags from his home, the Los Angeles Police Department said at the time.

With the stability of his coalition again under threat, and amid growing allegations that he has prolonged the war in Gaza for his political benefit — including an investigative report in the New York Times over the weekend, Netanyahu sat down with his recently appointed international affairs adviser, former journalist Caroline Glick, for an eight-minute staged interview, in which he issued some of his harshest public criticism yet of the Israeli security establishment and defended his wartime policies.

Answering what Glick called “some hard questions that keep coming up in the international media,” Netanyahu claimed that he was misled by defense officials, kept unaware about critical intelligence, and ultimately made all the key wartime decisions himself—while rejecting allegations that his political agenda or coalition considerations framed his handling of national security.

‘Just the facts’

In the video, captioned “Just the facts” on his X account, Netanyahu responded to accusations that domestic turmoil caused by his government’s 2023 judicial overhaul agenda created the conditions for the attack, dismissing the idea as “bogus.”

“Don’t mistake our internal democratic debate,” he said. “On the day of reckoning, if we are attacked, we shall all be there, left and right — and that’s exactly what happened.”

Settlers reportedly torch Palestinian cars, attack CNN crew in separate West Bank attacks

A CNN reporter says his crew was attacked by settlers while they were in the West Bank on Monday to cover the death of a 20-year-old Palestinian-American who was allegedly beaten to death by Israelis near Ramallah several days ago.

“As we were covering this story, my team and I were attacked by Israeli settlers. The back window of our vehicle was smashed, but we managed to escape unharmed,” tweets CNN reporter Jeremy Diamond.

“This is just a sliver of the reality many Palestinians face in the West Bank amid rising settler violence.”

Earlier this month, two reporters from Deutsche Welle were injured in an attack by settlers in the same area.

Israeli settlers torched Palestinian vehicles parked in a lot on the outskirts of the central West Bank village of Burqa earlier tonight, Palestinian media reports.

Footage from the scene shows a number of cars engulfed in flames.

A Burqa resident tells the Palestinian Authority’s official Wafa news site that Israeli soldiers arrived at the scene after the settler attack but that no arrests were made, as is almost always the case in such incidents.

There is no immediate comment from the IDF.

Female Teacher Arrested After Being Indicted for Sex Trafficking of Children in Puerto Rico

On July 10, 2025, a federal grand jury in the District of Puerto Rico returned an indictment charging a woman from Bayamón with sex trafficking of children. Lizamarie Rivera-García, 42, was arrested today by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents.

“These charges reflect the seriousness of the defendant’s conduct inflicted on her victims,” said W. Stephen Muldrow, U.S. Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico. “The sexual exploitation of children robs children of their freedom, dignity and sense of security. Such conduct is unacceptable in our society. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and our law enforcement partners will use all the tools at our disposal to prosecute sex traffickers and to seek justice for the victims.”

“We cannot let our guard down! Our children are being sexually exploited by individuals in positions of public trust. Law enforcement agencies are committed to being the voice of these victims,” said Rebecca C. Gonzalez-Ramos, HSI San Juan’s Special Agent in Charge. “HSI’s multidisciplinary team will guarantee that our children receive the necessary assistance to overcome this trauma, and our agents will make sure that these individuals are arrested, away from causing more damage. A female religion teacher that had the responsibility to guiding our children about principles and beliefs was actually developing a plan to sexually assault them. HSI and the Puerto Rico Police Bureau are committed to protecting our children. We will not let these acts happen on our watch.”

According to court documents, between December 2023 and October 2024, Lizamarie Rivera-García knowingly and willfully recruited, enticed, transported, and maintained a 15-year-old male minor to engage in commercial sex acts. Rivera-García is also accused with knowingly employing, using, persuading, inducing, enticing, and coercing the same 15-year-old male minor to engage in sexual activity; transporting the male victim in a commonwealth, territory or possession of the United States, with intent that the male individual engage in any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense; and using internet instant messaging services and social media, to knowingly transfer and attempt to transfer obscene matter to an individual who had not attained the age of 16 years.

In addition, from in or about December 2023 to November 2024, Rivera-García knowingly and willfully recruited, enticed, transported, and maintained a 17-year-old male minor to engage in commercial sex acts.

If convicted for the charges the defendant faces the following penalties: sex trafficking of a child - a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 15 years up to life in prison; transportation of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity – a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years up to life in prison; and coercion and enticement of a minor - a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years up to life in prison. All charges of conviction are to be followed by a term of supervised release after imprisonment of no less than 5 years up to life. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
