OpenAI Unveils ‘Agent’ Feature That Can Control Your Computer and Perform Tasks Automatically

In a briefing and demo with The Verge, Yash Kumar and Isa Fulford — product lead and research lead on ChatGPT Agent, respectively — said it’s powered by a new model that OpenAI developed specifically for the product.

The company said the new tool can perform tasks like looking at a user’s calendar to brief them on upcoming client meetings, planning and purchasing ingredients to make a family breakfast, and creating a slide deck based on its analysis of competing companies.

The model behind ChatGPT Agent, which has no specific name, was trained on complex tasks that require multiple tools — like a text browser, visual browser, and terminal where users can import their own data — via reinforcement learning, the same technique used for all of OpenAI’s reasoning models. OpenAI said that ChatGPT Agent combines the capabilities of both Operator and Deep Research, two of its existing AI tools.

To develop the new tool, the company combined the teams behind both Operator and Deep Research into one unified team. Kumar and Fulford told The Verge that the new team is made up of between 20 and 35 people across product and research.

It’s a trope Mr. Carlson danced around during the remainder of his Turning Point USA speech, in which he also hinted that President Trump supporter and hedge fund CEO Bill Ackman had Epstein connections. One of the various claims Hartmann cited to debunk Carlson's theory was the "fact" that former Israeli PM Naftali Bennett just publicly denied that Epstein was Mossad:

Criticizing Netanyahu Isn’t Anti-Semitism—It’s a Moral Obligation

In the months since October 7, when Hamas carried out a brutal and inexcusable attack on Israeli civilians, the world has watched in growing horror as the Israeli government—led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—has unleashed a campaign of destruction across the Gaza Strip that has few modern parallels. Entire families wiped out. Schools and hospitals reduced to rubble. Aid convoys bombed. Journalists silenced. Over 65,000 Palestinians killed, the vast majority of them women and children, according to the United Nations and humanitarian groups.

And yet, as calls for accountability and restraint rise, Netanyahu’s response has been consistent and cynical: any criticism of Israel is labeled “anti-Semitism.”

This is not only intellectually dishonest—it’s dangerous. It cheapens the real, rising threat of anti-Semitism globally by weaponizing it as a political shield for a government engaging in what many experts now consider war crimes.

Let me be clear: Anti-Semitism is real. It is a hatred that has haunted Jewish communities for centuries and led to unimaginable atrocities, including the Holocaust. But the demand for human rights and dignity for Palestinians is not born from that hatred—it is born from the very lessons that the Holocaust taught the world.

New details about the Steele Dossier's impact on the intel community's 2016 assessment of Russian meddling continue to emerge, as declassified documents show deep concern within the IC.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has declassified bombshell emails showing the shocked reaction of a top cybersecurity spy when he was belatedly informed in 2019 that the discredited anti-Trump Steele dossier had been used to develop the Obama administration’s intelligence assessment on Russian meddling in the 2016 election, Just the News can reveal.

Steele, a former MI6 agent, had been hired in 2016 by the opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which was being paid by Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias. The dossier by discredited Steele was used by the FBI to obtain FISA warrants against a Trump campaign official, and evidence continues to emerge about how it was included in the Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) on Russia and the 2016 election.

“We have a problem,” the intelligence officer on the U.S. National Intelligence Council (NIC) wrote when he learned by accident about the dossier’s influence in the December 2016 intelligence community assessment – seemingly by accident from an email sent by another top intelligence officer who had asked him to search for material in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The revelation so disturbed the NIC’s deputy national intelligence officer for cybersecurity that he eventually blew the whistle, first to the U.S. intelligence community's watchdog, then to Gabbard personally, intelligence sources relayed to Just the News.

“At no time in my IC career has ‘dossier’ material ever been represented to me in a work setting as something the NIC viewed as credible, or that was influential in crafting NIC products,” the officer wrote at one point.

The CIA’s recent eight-page “lessons learned” review – released earlier in July – focused on the 2016 assessment about Russia and the November 2016 election, which was made public in January 2017.

The review, conducted at the direction of CIA Director John Ratcliffe, concluded that “the decision by agency heads to include the Steele Dossier in the [assessment] ran counter to fundamental tradecraft principles and ultimately undermined the credibility of a key judgment.”

The departments of State and Health and Human Services formally rejected the amendments to the International Health Regulations adopted by the World Health Assembly last year, which would expand World Health Organization authorities in public health emergencies.

"The amended IHR would give the WHO the ability to order global lockdowns, travel restrictions, or any other measures it sees fit to respond to nebulous 'potential public health risks,'" and the regulations were set to become binding on the U.S. July 19 regardless of its withdrawal from the WHO, the departments jointly said Friday.

The amendments would infringe on domestic public health responses and do not "adequately address the WHO's susceptibility to the political influence and censorship - most notably from China - during outbreaks," the statement says.

They also "suggest that countries develop capabilities that jeopardize management and dissemination controls over public health information, potentially stifling valuable scientific debate," and they "compel countries to adopt digital health documents."

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy said in a video the amendments "open the door to the kind of narrative management, propaganda, and censorship that we saw during the COVID pandemic," and the U.S. can cooperate internationally "without jeopardizing our civil liberties, without undermining our Constitution, and without ceding away America’s treasured sovereignty."

State Secretary Marco Rubio said the amendments' terminology is "vague and broad, risking WHO-coordinated international responses that focus on political issues like solidarity, rather than rapid and effective actions."

New Satellite Data Shows: Gaza Devastation Scale Greater Than Estimated, at Least 70 Percent of Buildings Leveled

According to a Hebrew University mapping, 89% of the buildings in Rafah, 84% of the buildings in the northern Gaza Strip and 78% of the buildings in Gaza City have been completely or partially destroyed. The data shows that since April, an average of 2,000 buildings have been destroyed in Rafah each month

"The residents of Gaza have nowhere to return to. The world they knew and their daily lives are simply gone," says Adi Ben-Nun, director of the Hebrew University Geographic Information System Center. "The devastation is on every level, from homes that have been demolished to public institutions, workplaces, schools and agricultural lands – everything has been destroyed."

In recent months, Ben-Nun has analyzed satellite images of Gaza using an algorithm to assess the scale of destruction. He estimates that around 160,000 buildings – about 70 percent of all structures in the Strip – have sustained severe damage (at least 25 percent are entirely destroyed), rendering them uninhabitable.

IDF officers told Haaretz that contractors can earn up to 5,000 shekels (about $1,500) for each building they demolish, and that they pressure commanders in the field to expand the scope of destruction, demanding forces to protect their engineering equipment and drivers.

One of the so-called heroes of the demolition effort in Gaza is Rabbi Avraham Zarbiv, who serves as a D9 bulldozer operator during his reserve duty. Zarbiv has boasted about his role in a series of interviews, the latest of which appeared last weekend on the right-wing affiliated website B'Sheva.

"Rafah is being cleared today; there's no Rafah," he said. "Northern Gaza is almost entirely leveled. Khan Yunis is next – it'll be wiped out as well. In my humble opinion, God wants our job to be simply clearing the land. All this great wickedness, the likes of which we haven't seen in recent generations, must be wiped out."

After revelations that Oregon’s “motor voter” system registered hundreds of possible noncitizens, the state government launched an audit. Auditors found one in 35 voters didn’t have proof of citizenship — then looked the other way.

Oregon officials discovered in September hundreds of potential noncitizens had registered to vote. They examined limited data and eventually found the motor voter system had placed more than 1,600 possible ineligible voters on the rolls.

State leaders commissioned an audit — which, as Oregon journalist Jeff Eager first reported, found one in 35 voters labeled as “citizens” had no proof of such citizenship in the motor voter system.

The state’s motor voter system reportedly registered 766,756 people total to vote, as of September. The one-in-35 ratio (2.8 percent), applied across the state, suggests the system may have registered more than 21,470 voters without proof of citizenship.

Instead of flagging this lack of documentation as a massive gap in election integrity, the auditor — Chicago firm Baker Tilly — dismissed it, saying this would probably be too small to decide elections.

“Although the number of potentially ineligible individuals being automatically registered to vote is likely too small to affect the outcome of an election, the existence of such cases poses a moderate reputational and compliance risk,” the audit reads.

It simply expressed concern the security gap could “undermine public trust in the voter registration process” and bring “increased scrutiny.”

But, as of November 2024, the Oregon DMV already registered 54,600 voters who have not proven citizenship.

“The thing that got me the most was the consultant opining the error margin likely wouldn’t decide any elections,” Eager said in a direct message on X. He pointed to the state’s May special district elections, in which 25 races were so close they triggered a recount.

The audit, released July 1, noted numerous issues in Oregon’s motor voter system — the lack of citizenship proof was only the first.

Other problems included a lack of documentation when staff review documents, a lack of training policy, and a lack of a “formal, centralized process for escalating significant issues or errors” in the motor voter system. It also said “formal user access reviews are not performed for the O[regon] M[otor] V[oter] system.”

When Oregon officials occasionally glimpse into the state’s voting system, they favor and excuse left-wing groups — after all, they only discovered the potential noncitizen voters after the leftist Institute for Responsive Government (IRG) inquired into the matter.

After the initial discovery, state officials switched into panic mode. He appeared in a video in the summer of 2024 with Oregon’s then-Elections Director Molly Woon, claiming registering to vote is “unnecessarily complicated” and that automatic voter registration would be a “simple solution.”

'Denied': Troopers refuse to release Trump assassination attempt records

Nate Jones, the director of Freedom of Information Act requests at The Washington Post, revealed on Thursday that Pennsylvania State Police have refused to turn over the "after action report" in the assassination attempt against President Donald Trump last year.

Writing on X, Jones noted that both Butler County and state police confirmed the offices are "in possession of an after action report on 7/13/24 assassination attempt of Donald Trump."

Both refuse to release the report, however.

"Your request is denied as it seeks non-public records. the RTKL defines a 'public record' as '[a] record … of a Commonwealth or local agency that (1) is not exepmpt under section 708; (2) is not expempt from being disclosed under any other Federal or State law or regulation or judicial order or decree; or (3) is not protected by a privilege," read the state polic letter.

Butler County went into much more detail, however, revealing, "[T]he record is a record maintained by an agency in connection with the military, homeland security, national defense, law enforcement or other public safety activity that, if disclosed would be reasonably likely to jeopardize or threaten public safety or preparedness or public protection activity. The release of the planning information could have a diverse effect on future planning for dignitary protection duties."

Trump was shot at last July, grazing his ear and killing a supporter standing behind him. The shooter, Thomas Crooks, was killed after firing on the president and didn't appear to have any connections to international terrorism cells or other national security-related matters.

However, the U.S. Secret Service is known for blocking efforts to publicly discuss procedures guarding the protectee. However, it said the incident changed parts of its manual to “advance procedures and communication practices” relating to coordination with local law enforcement, the Associated Press reported this week.

Messy New Jersey Voter Rolls Have More Than 32,000 ‘Questionable’ Voter Records, Report Says

Registered New Jersey voters pick a new governor in the Nov. 4 general election, but before that the state really needs to clean up its voter list.

After reviewing New Jersey’s statewide voter roll, a report from the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) shows an “urgent need for improved list maintenance practices,” after identifying more than 32,000 registration issues, many of which could allow people to vote more than once.

PILF found 14,059 duplicate registrations, with voters registered in New Jersey and at least one other state at the same time. But PILF did not look at all 50 states, meaning there are certainly more to be found. PILF identified duplicate registrations in New Jersey and Florida (6,972 cases), New York (5,725), and Pennsylvania (925).

PILF also found 15,655 registrations using fictitious birth dates, which are sometimes used as placeholders — such as New Jersey’s most common placeholder date, 1800-01-01, that is, 225 years ago. The PILF report found 5,166 such birthdates in Essex County, 2,108 in Passaic County, and 1,928 in Middlesex County.

Of the 15,655 registrations with bad birth dates, 85 percent are marked as active voters, the report shows. But PILF says it is an easy fix. The organization took a random sample of 10 such registrations and compared the “New Jersey voter roll, Social Security records, and Experian reports,” and within minutes found the correct birthdates for all 10. PILF found that seven voter registrations were accurate after the proper birth date was added; Social Security records indicated that two registered voters had died more than 20 years ago; and one individual had seemingly relocated to St. Lucie County, Florida, and registered to vote there in 2017.

PILF also reportedly found 2,507 duplicate registrations at the same addresses. For example, they found cases where a single home had registrations for names like “Robert” and “Bob” “at precisely the same address with matching date of birth information.” Other apparent duplicate registrations at the same address had missing or false birth date data, suggesting these issues need to be investigated to make sure one person does not have more than one vote.

PILF sent a July 16 letter with its findings and a request for a meeting to Tahesha Way, who is both New Jersey’s lieutenant governor and secretary of state.

Viral video of ‘Muslims surrounding Melbourne cathedral’ is completely misleading and inaccurate

Videos from a Muslim gathering in Melbourne are going viral around the world, viewed millions of times. But not all is what it seems.

Millions of people around the world have watched viral videos on social media showing thousands of Muslims gathered outside Melbourne’s largest church, St Patrick’s Cathedral.

The videos, filmed on July 7 this year, are accompanied by comments like “the real war exposed” and “this is an act of war”, but they miss important context and information.

British anti-Islam campaigner Tommy Robinson, who has a legion of fans including 1.3 million followers on X, shared a video with the words: “Insane scenes as hundreds of Muslims circle Melbourne cathedral.”

It was viewed almost two million times and followed by thousands of hateful comments.

Failed Liberal candidate for Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Katherine Deves, whose views on the trans community were met with backlash across both sides of politics in 2022, wrote of the scenes: “A horde of Muslim men surround Melbourne’s St Patrick’s Catholic cathedral in a display of dominance & intimidation.”

Former Victorian Liberal politician Bernie Finn shared the footage on social media, writing: “This is pretty damn odd. Thousands of Muslims surrounded St Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne.”

What the footage actually shows is a procession of Muslims doing the same thing they have done for 12 years.

They are participating in a religious commemoration of Ashura — a significant day in Islam, particularly for Shia Muslims.

It marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, who stood against injustice and oppression 1400 years ago and died for what he believed in — which happened to be a peaceful and spiritual version of Islam.

Ashura falls on the 10th day of the Islamic calendar month and processions take place in major cities all over the world — including New York, London and Melbourne.

A map shared by organisers of the Melbourne procession shows the route travels from Treasury Gardens along Landsdowne Street, turns left on Albert Street, goes past St Patrick’s Cathedral to Parliament House on Spring Street and finishes back in Treasury Gardens.
