Netanyahu’s corruption trial delayed over ‘food poisoning’

The Israeli prime minister’s next hearing is not expected before September due to court recess

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will miss scheduled corruption hearings this week after being diagnosed with food poisoning, his office said on Sunday.

The trial began in 2020 and involves charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust over allegations of influence peddling and accepting gifts. Netanyahu denies any wrongdoing, describing the case as a politically motivated campaign against him.

According to officials, the 75-year-old prime minister fell ill overnight and was examined at home by his doctor. He was diagnosed with intestinal inflammation from eating “spoiled food” and is receiving intravenous fluids for dehydration. His condition was described as good.

“In accordance with his doctors’ instructions, the prime minister will rest at home for the next three days and will conduct state affairs from there,” the Prime Minister’s Office stated. He also missed Sunday’s weekly cabinet meeting due to the illness.

Netanyahu’s lawyer, Amit Hadad, requested the postponement, which the State Attorney’s Office accepted, proposing testimony later in the week. The court, however, canceled all sessions, and with summer recess starting, the next hearing is not expected before September 5.

The hearings have faced a number of delays due to Netanyahu’s health issues, Israel’s wars with Hamas and Iran, and diplomatic travel, according to Israeli media. In December 2024, he missed a session following a urinary tract infection caused by an enlarged prostate and reportedly underwent surgery.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called for the proceedings be canceled, labeling the case a “witch hunt.” Earlier in June, the US joined Israel’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, claiming that Tehran was nearing the completion of a nuclear bomb. Iran denied the allegations and retaliated with attacks on Israel and a US base in Qatar.

Russian media shows ‘largest drone assembly plant in the world’ (VIDEO)

Built from scratch, the Alabuga plant produces thousands of Geran kamikaze UAVs, Zvezda reports

Russian TV channel Zvezda has offered a rare peek into what it describes as the “largest drone assembly plant in the world” in the central part of the country, which produces thousands of drones to be used in the Ukraine conflict.

The report which aired on Sunday shows a vast drone manufacturing facility in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in Tatarstan Region, more than 1,200km from the front line.

The plant focuses on producing Geran drones, described by Zvezda as “simple, cheap, and… mass-produced,” and highly accurate.Footage from the facility shows long rows of Geran airframes slightly taller than the height of an average person.

Timur Shagivaleev, the general director of Alabuga, said the current output has far exceeded initial expectations. “At one time there was a plan to produce several thousand Gerans.Right now, we are producing nine times more than the original plan,” he stated, without specifying the timeframe.

The Geran is a long-range loitering munition with a delta-wing design and rear-mounted pusher propeller. It can carry an explosive payload of 40-50kg, has a cruising speed of around 180kph, and can travel over 1,000km on a single mission.

Most of the workforce at the plant are young people, many of whom come from a nearby college, which was set up by those who organized the Geran production, according to the report.

Zvezda said the plant was built from the ground up within the Alabuga economic zone. Before the escalation of the Ukraine conflict, it focused on attracting international technology and building import-substitution capabilities.

The report also featured a facility that assembles lighter reconnaissance and strike UAVs. Many of these drones are equipped with fiber-optic cables to withstand electronic jamming.

Russia has used mass-produced drones extensively in Ukraine to target expensive Western-supplied armored vehicles, troop concentrations, and military-related facilities, with Ukrainian officials saying recent strikes involved hundreds of drones.

Moscow maintains that it never targets civilians and that the drone strikes are a response to Kiev’s attacks on residential areas and critical infrastructure in Russia.

Remnants. Thats what we are; that’s even what some of us call ourselves. Remainders. Leftovers. Residue. The stub of the cigar of the fake Russiagate scandal, left to smoke and shrink away in the overfull ashtray of national shame.

We Russia hoax Remnants feel differentlyabout President Donald Trump’s recent landslide victory, and our expectations are diverse. But we all, to some degree, have similar stories and hopes —not for retribution, as delicious as that may be,but for accountability and reform.

And Kash Patel, President Trump’s pick to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is the man we need. Like the President elect, he has seen this abuse up close. They are uniquely qualified.

Make no mistake, when we all chose politics as a profession, we knew it was bloodsport.But none of us expected the personal tollthat impacted not just careers, but health and families —especially our children.

There are many families like my own, destroyed completelyby the Democrats’ illegal zeal to Get Trump at any cost. During Russiagate and the subsequent hoaxes, I screamed at the top of my lungs on television several times each week as my wife and daughters lived in fear in our Buffalo-area home.

Most Remnants stayed silent. They were the smart ones.

Those subjects of the bogus Russian collusion investigationsare quietly reassembling their lives today. Just six or seven years ago, some pulled their children from school, bullied by students and teachers alike.

Both parents in at least one family were fired, and with no money for tuition their son was forced to drop out of the college he worked tirelessly to attend. I don’t think he ever returned.

These Remnant stories are commonplace. Many familieslost their homes; most lost their life savings. I know of older targets living on meager pensions now that their bank accounts weredrained by lawfare legal fees. Those still working are earning less than half the income of their peers.

One family left the country, disheartened by what America had become. Another man, once an international business success, was wrongly debased and finally diminished to serve in a bureaucracy.

Then there is the death and near deaths, the suicide attempts readers will never know, the illnesses brought on by stress. When I fell with head and neck cancer, another Remnant struck by the disease called me twice a week to share our battles. After several months, his calls stopped.

My colleague had finally succumbed to the Crossfire Hurricane plague, unfathomable stress that drives cancer. Readers don’t even know his name; his wife and two young children know he was a hero.

He did nothing wrong. He was a Remnant.

The mentally ill, weaponized by brazen Democrat lies, harassed nearly all of us. My frequent media appearances made me more recognizable than the smarter, quieter Remnants. That made my family a target of a local retired mailman who was arrested and prosecuted for harassment.

My youngest daughters, just five and seven years old at the time, were often harassed while playing in our front yard. A local elderly woman, an otherwise benign community museum volunteer, posted dozens of times on social media during her daily walks by our house, including photos showing our address. She screamed at my girls and mocked their safety.

The bitter old lady died recently and the nutty mailman is still creeping around. Our family prays for their souls because, like all the Remnants,we know the banality of evil. Unhinged activists, some neighbors, forced us to leave our beloved hometown forever. We miss it every day — especially after a big, beautiful Buffalo snowfall.

It’s worse for some, like Paul Manafort, Carter Page, and the inimitable Roger Stone. Last year Roger and I had a late lunch a few miles from his home. Out of nowhere, an Antifa activist showed up to threaten him in the empty restaurant. Clearly, these pongos are still tracking Roger closely. He did nothing wrong, yet I still fear for his safety.

I have talked to many of the Remnants since Election Day. Some have high hopes;these patriots still believe in our justice system. Others expect nothing at all after seeing enough corruption to believe justice is dead.Most are somewhere in between.

All of us agree the original Russiagate conspiracy continues even today. The Russia hoax was created by Hillary Clinton aide Jake Sullivan, who carries on with his lies today as President Joe Biden’s national security advisor. Christopher Steele, the British spy hired by Clinton to create the dodgy dossier, and his Fusion GPS co-conspirator Glenn Simpson are still doing the same work for similar clients. Andrew Weissmann, Peter Strzok, John Brennan, and morestill peddle their lies. Elements of the original conspiracy were woven into Ukrainian meddling in the 2016 American election, then bogus Trump impeachments, January 6th prosecutions, anti-Trump lawfare, and Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Mar-a-lago raid.

FBI Director Patel can provethe original 2016 conspiracy continues today. Much of the evidence remains in federal and public databases. Preemptive pardons aside, that means Sullivan, Weissmann, Mary McCord, Steele, Simpson, Victoria Nuland, Alexander Vindman, Eric Ciaramella, Smith, and others may still be in the jackpot.

We agree with attorney Mike Davis: these perpetrators potentially violated 18 U.S.C. § 241 and 242, federal civil rights statutes that prohibit conspiracies to violate the rights of others.

This is where many Remnants stand:please do not forget the families in the ash tray and simply move on. Investigate the perpetrators now, reach back to the beginning of their Russiagate criminal conspiracy and follow it to today.Prosecute them fully and legally; expose how they illegally crushed us.

But do this only in pursuit of true justice — not for retribution, but for accountability and reform.

The report by Special Counsel John Durham makes clear beyond a shred of doubt that the Russia Hoax was the most atrocious weaponization of our government in American history. It was a crime like no other.

Seven years ago, I ran for office taking on all the most corrupt forces and entrenched interests in our nation's capital.My agenda was an existential threat to a Washington establishment that got rich and powerful bleeding America dry.

The Durham Report proves that the key figures involved knew from the start that the Russia Collusion conspiracy theory was a lie. The FBI launched their witch hunt without a scrap of legitimate evidence—and when they came upon exonerating information time after time, they covered it up and kept the hoax going forward.

The sickness was driven from the very top. FBI Director James Comey constantly pressured agents for more surveillance and warrants, demanding to know over and over "Where is the FISA, where is the FISA?"

Barack Obama and Joe Biden were in on it, too. They were briefed in August 2016 on reports that Clinton planned to "vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian Security Services."

They knew the truth, yet they put our country through hell.

As savage and cruel as the Russia Hoax was for me, my family, my staff, and so many innocent bystanders, the real victims were the American People.

At a critical moment when we should have been reducing tensions with Russia, the Russia Hoax stoked mass hysteria that helped drive Russia straight into the arms of China.

Instead of having a better relationship with Russia as I worked to build, we now have a proxy war with Russia, fueled in part by the lingering fumes of Russiagate delirium. Ukraine has been utterly devastated. Untold numbers of people have been killed. And we could very well end up in World War III.

As the Twitter Files have proven, the Radical Left establishment also used the Russia Hoax to attack freedom of speech. They built a sprawling domestic censorship regime under the guise of combatting so-called "Russian disinformation"—which they quickly defined to include any content they did not like.

The intelligence community, the media, and the Silicon Valley tech companies then deployed this very pretext, "Russian disinformation," to censor the Biden corruption scandal in 2020—censorship orchestrated, as we now know, by the Biden campaign.

In one poll last year, 79 percent of Americans following the story about Hunter Biden's sordid laptop said truthful coverage of that wrongly censored story would have changed the outcome of the election. Our country is now paying a very steep price.

Perhaps most dangerous of all, the Russia Hoax normalized the weaponization of law enforcement against the Left's political enemies. The Radical Democrats and their media partners now cheer as Biden's DOJ demands the FBI investigate parents at school board meetings, deploys heavily armed teams to arrest pro-life activists, and pursues an all-out persecution of Joe Biden's leading opponent for the presidency.

These corrupted agencies have interfered in every election since 2016—and they are interfering in the 2024 election before our very eyes.

There must be a reckoning. Accountability now lies in the hands of the voters. The Durham Report has made the stakes abundantly clear, and now the choice is ours: either the Deep State destroys America, or we destroy the Deep State.

Did Obama’s CIA director falsify evidence showing Russiagate was a hoax?

Last week, CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred former CIA Director John Brennan to the FBI for a criminal investigation. Some reports claim the referral relates to Brennan potentially having perjured himself before Congress. But on Wednesday, President Donald Trump may have pointed to another direction the FBI probe may take. In an interview with reporter John Solomon, Trump said he would declassify an annex to the May 2023 report filed by John Durham, the special counsel appointed during Trump’s first term to investigate Russiagate.

The annex, according to Solomon,deals with the “Clinton Plan intelligence”—and, says Solomon, “lawmakers and Durham have suggested it would provide damning evidence to any prosecutor.” Trump told Solomon, “I will absolutely declassify it.”

The “Clinton Plan Intelligence” refers to intelligence the CIA received in late July 2016 from a Dutch spy agency.

The Dutch hadpenetrated a Russian intelligence agency that appears to have hacked the emails of Clinton alliesand Democratic officials.

And it was from these communications that the Russians learned the Clinton campaign had devised a plan to smear Trump as a Russian agent to deflect attention from her use of a private email server.

According to Durham’s final report in May 2023, theU.S. intelligence official “who initially received the information immediately recognized its importance—including its relevance to the U.S. presidential election—and acted quickly to make CIA leadership aware of it.” Brennan himself, the report shows, “personally received a copy of the intelligence.”

One theory investigators may be pursuing relates to Brennan’s notes about his Aug. 3 briefing at the White House.

According to Brennan’s handwritten notes, in an Aug. 3, 2016, meeting at the White House, he briefed Barack Obama and other U.S. officials, including then Attorney General Loretta Lynch and then FBI Director James Comey, about the Clinton Plan intelligence. The notes claim that he alerted them to the “alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on July 26 of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security services.”

Ratcliffe declassified Brennan’s notes in late September 2020, when Ratcliffe was Trump’s director of national intelligence.He also declassified a second Clinton Plan intelligence document that Durham found during his investigation. This was a CIA memo dated Sept. 7, 2016, addressed to Comey and FBI agent Peter Strzok, that referred the Clinton Plan intelligence for further investigative action.

What’s odd is that virtually no one working on the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation, known as Crossfire Hurricane, saw the CIA memo. According to Durham’s report, “None of the FBI personnel who agreed to be interviewed could specifically recall receiving this Referral Memo, nor did anyone recall the FBI doing anything in response to the Referral Memo.”

For instance, former FBI general counsel James Baker told Durham “that he had neither seen nor heard of the Clinton Plan intelligence or the resulting Referral Memo prior to his interview” with Durham.

Same with Supervisory Special Agent-1, reportedly an FBI agent named Joe Pientka.According to the report, when Durham showed Pientka the information, he became “visibly upset and emotional, left the interview room with his counsel, and subsequentlyreturned to state emphatically that he had never been apprised of the Clinton Plan intelligenceand had never seen the aforementioned Referral Memo. Supervisory Special Agent-1 expressed a sense of betrayal that no one had informed him of the intelligence.”

According to the Durham report, Comey and Obama’s director of national intelligence, James Clapper, were briefed on the Clinton Plan intelligence. But there’s no evidence that Brennan, Comey, Clapper,or any other Obama official included the Clinton Plan intelligence in any of their pre election briefingson Russian interference to Senate and House leadership and oversight committees.

Same after the election—none of Obama’s spy chiefs ever mentioned the Clinton Plan intelligence. Obama reportedly told Brennan that he wanted his CIA director to include everything the intelligence community had on Russian interference in the 2016 election for the intelligence community assessment (ICA) that the outgoing president wanted completed before he left office.

But there’s nothing about the Clinton Plan intelligence in the ICA. Of course, it would have been a powerful rebuttal to the ICA’s central conclusion that Putin sought to help Trump win the 2016 election. Or it would have made the assessment entirely invalid.

Brennan neglected to mention the Clinton Plan intelligence during his testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on May 17, 2017, or before the House Intelligence Committee a week later. And, obviously, the former CIA chief never talked about the Clinton Plan intelligence during his many TV appearances on NBC and elsewhere.

It’s clear why the Clinton Plan intelligence was buried and why none of the FBI officials Durham interviewed had seen the CIA referral memo. It exposedRussiagate as a hoax, despite the broad preelection media campaign insisting otherwise, including leaks from U.S. officials falsely alleging Trump’s ties to Russia.

After the election, the CIA referral memo posed an even greater threat: It gave evidence of a conspiracy involving the top leadership of the American intelligence community, including at least Brennan, Clapper, and Comey, whose FBI investigated Trump as a Russia spy even though the FBI director was made aware it was a dirty trick.

It’s not clear how Brennan found out that Durham had discovered the CIA referral memo and was asking questions about it. Perhaps it was due to a rumor of Pientka’s rage after Durham showed him the document in a July 22, 2020, interview that got Brennan worried. Only two days before Brennan was scheduled to meet with Durham on Aug. 21, the special counsel had confirmed with a U.S. official that Brennan had personally received a copy of the Clinton Plan intelligence.Why, Durham would want to know, hadn’t the CIA referral gotten to the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane team?

One theory investigators may be pursuing relates to Brennan’s notes about his Aug. 3 briefing at the White House.Did Brennan doctor his notes after he learned Durham had found the CIA memo?Notes showing he’d briefed Obama, Lynch, and Comey would prove he hadn’t buried the memo or the Clinton Plan intelligence but had in fact read in the principals. It wasn’t his fault the Crossfire Hurricane investigators didn’t get the CIA memo—he told Comey about it, and the attorney general and even the president.

Durham interviewed Brennan for eight hours at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, on Aug. 21, 2020. Durham’s ability to bring any charges was limited because he was under the watchful eye of Joe Biden’s attorney general Merrick Garland. But now? If the statute of limitations on the case is five years, FBI Director Kash Patel has a little more than a month. If, however, the onetime congressional investigator who uncovered Russiagate is building a conspiracy case, law enforcement may have much more time to make sure it’s airtight before bringing charges.

In any event, it’s worth noting that theonly genuine piece of Russian intelligenceU.S. spy services ever received during the Trump-Russia probewas intelligence that Russia knew the Clinton campaign was behind the effort to dirty Trump as a Russian agent.

It seems appropriate that Russian intelligence may lead to the prosecution and conviction of Brennanand the intelligence officials responsible for the biggest political scandal in U.S. history.

‘F*ck Him’: Hunter Biden Goes Off on Democrats Who Criticized Joe Biden’s Mental Decline

Hunter Biden went on a profanity-ridden rant against Democrats who lent credence to Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s Original Sin, the exposé on former President Joe Biden’s mental decline, in a very bizarre, three-hour interview with a YouTuber.

The former first son, who has not given a sit-down media interview in years, told popular “Channel 5” video journalist Andrew Callaghanthat the book revealing the White House’s cover-up of his father’s cognitive issues was “a money grab,” and attacked George Clooney, James Carville, David Plouffe, and others.

It was June 2024 when the elder Biden “hobbled” out at a Hollywood fundraiser co-hosted by Clooney, a longtime acquaintance, but the then-president did not recognize him, the book reported.

“The president appeared severely diminished, as if he’d aged a decade since Clooney last saw him in December 2022. He was taking tiny steps and had an aide guiding him by his arm,” Tapper and Thompson wrote.

It was not long after when Clooney called for the 81-year-old candidate to drop out of the race following his terrible performance against now-President Donald Trump in their debate.

“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010,” the movie star wrote in an op-ed for the New York Times. “He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”

“Fuck him!” Hunter exclaimed to Callaghan about Clooney. “Fuck him and everybody around him. I don’t have to be fucking nice. Number one, I agree with Quentin Tarantino. Fucking George Clooney is not a fucking actor. He is fucking like… I don’t know what he is. He’s a brand.”

He (bipolar Hunter comes out) continued, “And by the way, God bless him. You know what?He supposedly treats his friends really well. You know what I mean? Buys them things, and he’s got a really great place in Lake Como, and he’s great friends with Barack Obama.Fuck you. What do you have to do with fucking anything? Why do I have to fucking listen to you?

What right do you have to step on a man who’s given 52 years of his fucking life to the service of this countryand decide that you, George Clooney, are going to take out basically a full page ad in the fucking New York Times to undermine the president at a time in which, by the way, what do people care about the most? Why do you think that the Republicans have an advantage over us? Because they’re unified.”

Carville, a longtime Democrat strategist who said Biden’s decline was apparent prior to the release of Original Sin, and David Axelrod, a former adviser to President Barack Obama who said he was “troubled” by the book’s revelations, became targets of Hunter’s criticism next.

“James Carville, who hasn’t won a race in 40 fucking years, and David Axelrod, who had one success in his political life— and that was because of Barack Obama, not because of David Axelrod,” Hunter huffed.

Plouffe, another Democrat adviser who was a White House aide to Obama, told Tapper and Thompson that the party’s 2024 loss was “all Biden.”“He totally fucked us,” he told the Original Sin co-authors.

Hunter went on to name him and other former Obama aides who host the Pod Save America podcast who called on Biden to drop out of the race before he eventually did.

“David Plouffe and all of these guys, and the ‘Pod Save America’ guyswho were junior fucking speech writers on Barack Obama’s Senate staff who have been dining out on the relationship with him for years making millions of dollars,” the former first son continued.

“The Anita Dunns of the world, who has made $40-$50 million off of the Democratic Party,”Hunter added, referring to the former president’s ex-senior adviser who called the presidential pardon he issued for his son’s criminal actions “an attack on our judicial system.”

“They’re all gonna insert their judgment over a man who has figured out, unlike anybody else, how to get elected to the United States Senate over seven times, (WTF?) how to pass more legislation than any president in history, how to have a better midterm election than anybody in history, and had to garner more votes than any president that has ever won,” the younger Biden told Callaghan. “And they’re going to replace their judgment for his.”

Speaking to the credibility of Original Sin, Hunter asked,“Whose Jake Tapper’s audience?… What influence does Jake Tapper have over anything? He has the smallest audience on cable news…. His ratings just went to shit after the book came out.”

“It was such a money grab, such a disservice to everyone that he serves with,” Hunter argued.

Trump to Legalized Immigrants: Citizenship Carries the ‘Highest Responsibility’ to the U.S.

New legal immigrants accept the “highest responsibility” as they join the American family, President Donald Trump says in a short video for use in naturalization ceremonies.

Trump’s message and tone are far different from those of President Barack Obama, who told migrants that citizenship is for their convenience: “It’s about adding a new chapter to your journey as an American citizen and to our journey as a nation of immigrants,” Obama told would-be migrants in 2015.

In his welcome message to the new migrants, Trump says:

My fellow Americans, how exciting this is. Congratulations. Today, you receive one of the most priceless gifts ever granted by human hands. You become a citizen of the United States of America. What an honor.

It is with great pride and wisdom in so many different ways — because you have such great wisdom — that I welcome you into our national family. No matter where you come from, you now share a home and a heritage with some of the most exceptional heroes, legends, and patriots to ever walk the face of the Earth. All of the triumphs and glories of American history now belong to you. You have it in your being. You have it like nobody’s had it before.

With this sacred honor comes the highest responsibility. As you know, the American way of life is unique in all the world, and as Americans, we must fiercely guard it and defend it.

In this country, we believe in hard work and merit system and equality of opportunity. We believe in self-government, and the fair and equal and impartial rule of law, and we cherish our liberty and our God-given rights to free speech, free exercise of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms.

This special American culture is now yours to preserve. Your freedoms are now yours to protect. Our entire nation is now yours to love and to help build, and we trust that you will do a fantastic job and make us very, very proud.

Under Congress’s 1990 immigration law, the administration annually legalizes roughly 1 million new citizens. That inflow is huge — and adds roughly 1 new immigrant for every 3.5 native births.

Trump’s “highest responsibility” message is a reminder that new citizens are expected to be loyal to their fellow citizens. For example, the citizenship oath says:

I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen.

But for decades, Democrats have used migration to change U.S. demographics and culture and to weaken the political clout of native-born Americans. From 2021 to 2025, for example, President Joe Biden imported at least 10 million illegal migrants.

Naturalization “is not about changing who you are, it’s about adding a new chapter to your journey… and to our journey as a nation of immigrants,” Obama said in his 2015 message.

His video was devoid of any images that suggest Americans’ accomplishments. Instead, Obama described the United States as a “Nation of Immigrants” where migrants lead the nation:

The true strength of a nation lies not in its might but in the courage and conviction of its people, our hopes, our dreams, our boundless determination to set down roots and build a better life, not just for ourselves but for our families, for our communities, for our children, for all of us.

The “Nation of Immigrants” narrative was successfully pushed in the 1950s and 1960s by pro-migration advocates to replace the older view of America as a nation of settlers, pioneers, and entrepreneurs. This elite narrative was expanded in the 1990s as Democrats insisted that ‘Diversity is our Greatest Strength.”

In a 2015 naturalization ceremony, for example, Obama praised migrants above citizens:

I’m proud to be among the first to greet you as ‘My fellow Americans’… We can never say it often or loudly enough: Immigrants and refugees revitalize and renew America.” … Immigrants are the teachers who inspire our children, and they’re the doctors who keep us healthy. They’re the engineers who design our skylines, and the artists and the entertainers who touch our hearts.

Immigrants are soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen who protect us, often risking their lives for an America that isn’t even their own yet.

Obama also sought to harness new migrants to his progressive political machine:

Today is not the final step in your journey… Our system of self-government depends on ordinary citizens doing the hard, frustrating but always essential work of citizenship — of being informed … Of speaking out when something is not right. Of helping fellow citizens when they need a hand. Of coming together to shape our country’s course … And to vote.

But Trump’s speech does not mention that “Nation of Immigrants” narrative, nor the diversity that progressives want to impose on Americans’ evolving society.

“There’s no celebration of diversity, there’s no celebration of past immigrants,” Jason Edwards, a communications professor at  Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts, complained to NPR.

Instead, Trump revives the older view of the United States as a strong culture that absorbs migrants. For example, Trump said:

In this country, we believe in hard work and merit system and equality of opportunity. We believe in self-government, and the fair and equal and impartial rule of law, and we cherish our liberty and our God-given rights to free speech, free exercise of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms. This special American culture is now yours to preserve.

“President Trump’s message to new citizens is an essential one,” said Matthew Tragesser, a spokesman for the agency that manages the naturalization process. “U.S. citizenship is a privilege and reserved for those who respect our laws, culture, and history.”
