Bove moves ahead in confirmation process despite Republican opposition

Republican Sens. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski oppose Emil Bove’s judicial nomination.

Emil Bove has narrowly cleared another procedural hurdle toward a lifetime seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

The Senate voted 50-48 to proceed with consideration of Bove’s nomination, with Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins siding with all Democrats in opposition. Bove is President Donald Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, and he is now serving as principal associate deputy attorney general as he awaits confirmation to a judgeship on the federal bench.

Democrats have argued Bove is unfit to sit on the powerful appeals court, pointing to, among other things, allegations he suggested defying court orders for the administration’s deportation agenda. That opposition boiled over in the Senate Judiciary Committee last week when Democrats walked out of the panel’s vote in protest over chair Chuck Grassley’s decision to pause debate on Bove’s nomination.

Bove has proven to be among a handful of emerging nominees from the administration who have divided the Senate GOP. After lack of sufficient support tanked Ed Martin’s chances to be U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia, questions are also now mounting around Trump’s pick to lead the Office of Special Counsel, Paul Ingrassia. The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental AffairsCommittee abruptly withdrew consideration of Ingrassia’s nomination at a hearing Thursday.

MSM Flips on Zelensky, Starts Reporting on Ukraine Corruption – Kiev Regime Leader Backtracks and Files New Bill Restoring Independence to Anti-graft Agencies

by Paul Serran Jul. 25, 2025 7:30 am1/2

The war made Zelensky famous – and the corruption of the Kiev regime made him infamous.

The mainstream media – and people who give credence to their reporting – live in an upside-down world.

Take Ukraine leader Volodymyr Zelensky, for example: described as a ‘new Winston Churchill’, a heroic figure of nearly mythological standing.

In real life, Zelensky is a ‘president’ whose mandate ended more than a year ago, who leads a via martial law a regime packed with real-life Nazis, rampant corruption, censure of the press, outlawing of opposition parties, arresting or exiling popular opponents… the list goes on – and don’t even get us started with his widely rumored substance abuse.

Now, all of a sudden, the world’s MSM is slowly but surely turning a cold shoulder to the ‘moderately successful comedian’.

The reason is simple: the Kiev regime was reportedly on the verge of being struck by corruption investigations targeting the close circle around Zelensky.

So, they fast-tracked a bill defanging the anti-corruption agencies NABU and SAPO, subjecting them to the control of the Presidency via the prosecutor general.

Everyone and their uncle came public to protest, including the European Union and the US.

Listen to this bit: “Biden gave away $350 billion worth of equipment or cash, worse than equipment, cash. So, we want to find out about that someday, I guess, right? But they were supposed to buy their own equipment, but I have a feeling they didn’t spend every dollar on the equipment, but they are brave.”

And the subservient press also felt free to unleash on the Kiev regime.

Politico reported on the ‘insidious and corrosive adversary from within — the country’s own semi-autocratic leadership’.

“This is what opposition lawmakers and civil society activists have been arguing for months, as Ukraine’s presidential administration has been grabbing more power, weakening other governing and regional institutions — including the country’s parliament — while also intimidating critics in a bid to silence them with hue-and-cry campaigns or by labeling them as Russian stooges.

They say the extent of this democratic backsliding became clearer this week after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gutted Ukraine’s two key anti-corruption agencies, which had been zeroing in on top government officials. The move prompted the first country-wide street protests since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in 2022.

In Kyiv, hundreds of protesters gathered near the presidential complex while crowds of veterans, active-duty soldiers and civilians gathered in dozens of other towns, including Lviv and the frontline cities of Odesa and Dnipro. Despite the rallies, Zelenskyy approved the new law, which will hand substantial authority over the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) to the politically appointed prosecutor general.”

Reuters lionized the young protesters against Zelensky:

“Their energy has created a festival-like atmosphere tinged with focused anger outside the office of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, whose image as a tireless wartime leader has been tarnished by his moves to curb anti-corruption agencies.

‘I think now that I’m 18, I have a certain responsibility’, Morhun, a native of eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk, said late on Wednesday amid the din of a second night of the biggest protests since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.”

And an opinion piece in The Telegraph calls for Zelensky to resign – something unthinkable even a few weeks ago.

“A new Ukrainian president would mark a reset moment – especially if he or she was ready to protect the rights of Russian speakers in Ukraine, a key demand of the Kremlin’s and, ironically enough, also of the EU.

Zelensky has played an epic role in saving his country from destruction. Now there is a danger of his imitating his corrupt predecessors, and he should step aside, for Ukraine’s sake.”

Finally, it appears that Zelensky has capitulated to the protests and the pressure from the West, and canceled his own anti-corruption reforms.

Slavyangrad reported:

“Bill 13533, presented by Zelensky as urgent, restores all procedural powers and guarantees the independence of NABU and SAP, reports the anti-corruption bureau.

The bill submitted by Zelensky states that the Prosecutor General and his deputies have no right to give instructions to SAP prosecutors. It also says that SAP employees report only to the head of SAP and his deputies.

According to the bill, the Prosecutor General is prohibited from giving instructions to NABU detectives.

[…]All the provisions that were canceled by the bill adopted by the Rada on Tuesday, signed by Zelensky himself, have been restored.”

UK could ‘easily’ stab US in the back – Putin aide

Moscow has previously warned that London was considering a false flag operation against an American warship (remember Ratcliffe and the SVR leader of their form of CIA, agreed to talk directly when needed)

The United Kingdom would not hesitate to sabotage a potential thaw in US-Russia relations, a top aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed on Friday.

Nikolay Patrushev, a longtime national security official and senior Kremlin adviser, accusedLondon of being prepared to carry out a false flag in order to derail efforts by US President Donald Trump to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and normalize ties with Moscow.

“If necessary, London would easily stab Washington in the back.I believe officials in the White House realize what kind of ‘ally’ they are dealing with,” Patrushev told RIA Novosti.

His comments followed a statement last month by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), which alleged that British intelligence was directly involved in orchestrating covert Ukrainian operations. The SVR claimed the UK had acquired torpedoes of Soviet and Russian design for potential use in a false flag incident – specifically, a staged attack on an American naval vessel in the Baltic Sea.

Since Trump’s return to office in January and the departure of Joe Biden’s Democratic administration, Russian officials have frequently pointed to London as the primary force behind the continued conflict in Ukraine. They argue that the British government’s firm support is an obstacle to peace and a strategic effort to block reconciliation between Washington and Moscow.

Moscow has portrayed the Ukraine conflict as a NATO-driven proxy war meant to weaken Russia at the expense of Ukrainian lives.

Past reporting by The New York Times and The Times of London has confirmed that both US and British officials have played more active roles in directing Ukrainian military strategy than publicly acknowledged by their governments.

German foreign minister makes new threat against Russia

Berlin may soon supply weapons to Ukraine that can strike Russian territory, Johann Wadephul has said

Ukraine will soon have the capability to strike targets inside Russia, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said on Wednesday, raising the prospect of Berlin supplying long-range weapons that Moscow has warned could escalate the conflict.

Speaking to Die Zeit, Wadephul did not name specific systems, but appeared to reference the Taurus missile – a long-range weapon capable of hitting targets up to 500km away, including inside Russian territory.

”Ukraine will also have the means to strike back into Russian territory,” he said. “However, we will not reveal to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin… which weapons systems we are providing to Ukraine.”

Wadephul added that he had been cautious about weighing in on the Taurus debate, citing the missile’s technical complexity as the reason for the delay in coming to a decision.

Moscow has repeatedly warned that supplying Taurus missiles would make Germany a direct party to the conflict. Russian officials have long criticized Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, saying they prolong hostilities and risk a broader confrontation.

Berlin has resisted supplying the Taurus system to Kiev for months. Former Chancellor Olaf Scholz repeatedly blocked the transfer, citing a risk of escalation. His successor, Friedrich Merz, has since stated that no decision has been taken on the matter.

Since taking office in May, Merz has adopted a hardline stance toward Russia. Earlier this month, he declared that diplomatic options in the Ukraine conflict had been “exhausted” and reaffirmed his commitment to arming Ukraine. In response, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused him of fueling escalation by abandoning diplomacy.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius reiterated earlier this month that Berlin would not send Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

Senior German General Christian Freuding said recently, however, that Ukraine would receive its first batch of long-range missiles financed by Berlin before the end of July. He did not specify the type, but suggested that Ukrainian forces consider striking Russian airfields and weapons factories to relieve pressure at the front.

Putin-Zelensky summit only possible to finalize peace deal – Kremlin

A potential summit must involve final agreements, spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said

A summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky should only take place to finalize a peace settlement, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

Zelensky has repeatedly called for a face-to-face meeting with Putin in the past several months. The Ukrainian delegation has also proposed the idea during rounds of bilateral talks in Istanbul, framing such a summit as essential to ending the conflict.

While the Kremlin has not ruled out a possible Putin-Zelensky meeting, Russian officials have consistently emphasized that the groundwork must be laid first.

“A summit meeting can and should put a final point in the settlementand record the modalities and agreements that are to be developed in the course of expert work. It is impossible to do the opposite,” Peskov told reporters on Friday.

Following the third round of Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul this week, the Kremlin spokesman accused Kiev of prematurely pushing for a summit. “They are trying to put the cart before the horse,” Peskov said, stressing that “work needs to be done, and only then can the heads of state be given the opportunity to record the achievements that have been made.”

Moscow has consistently pointed to concerns about Zelensky’s legal authority. While Russia has stated it is open to negotiations with him, officials have warned that any documents signed under Zelensky’s name could face legal challenges in the future.

Zelensky’s presidential term expired in May 2024. He has refused to hold new elections, citing the ongoing state of martial law in Ukraine. Russia has argued that his status as head of state is no longer valid and that legal authority in Ukraine now lies with its parliament.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has suggested that Zelensky’s insistence on meeting both Putin and US President Donald Trumpmay be aimed at getting “a massive legitimacy boost” and using the meetings as a pretext to further delay elections.

(He wants a picture with Putin because he wants to be perceived as a world leader like Trump, Xi and Putin. It’s all ego and possibly to try to embarrass Putin with wild antics.Z is fucked and on his way out, everyone knows it.)

Police bust fake embassy near New Delhi

A businessman has been pretending to be the envoy from the non-existent nations of West Arctica, Saborga, Poulvia, and Lodonia

Police in the Indian city of Ghaziabad near New Delhi have arrested a 45-year-old man who claimed to be the ambassador of a host of non-existent nations.

Harsh Vardhan Jain presented himself as a “globe-trotting diplomat” and the ambassador or consul of the fake countries of West Arctica, Saborga, Poulvia, and Lodonia, an official from the Uttar Pradesh state special police task force told local media on Thursday.

A small golden nameplate of a rented house described him as “His Excellency Harsh Vardhan Jain, Royale Consigliere, Principato di Seborga,” claiming to be the “Royal Advisor” to Seborga, a micronation in Italy's Liguria province that is not recognized by the international community, according to the Indian Express.

The house’s balcony and roof displayed fake flags, including one with a white cross on a blue background and another with a royal crown and shield, the paper added.

Police allege that Jain operated a sophisticated scam from the two-story building, used fabricated documents and claimed international connections.

The police task force seized four vehicles with diplomatic plates, 20 additional fake number plates, 12 forged diplomatic passports, stamps and seals with fake Indian Foreign Ministry credentials, and other documents. Cash was also recovered, consisting of $5,200 in Indian currency, €17,000, $14,000, and £5,200 pounds, among other currencies.

Jain’s elaborate setup, which included manipulated photos of him with world leaders, was allegedly used to deceive businessmen and launder money over the past two years. He used his supposed diplomatic status to gain the trust of businessmen, promising them access to global markets and running an illicit money laundering network through shell companies, according to local media reports.

The fake embassy was operating for seven years, according to the Hindustan Times.

Bill Clinton praised Epstein’s ‘childlike curiosity’ – WSJ

The former US president reportedly complimented the convicted sex offender in a recently-disclosed 2003 birthday message

Former US President Bill Clinton wrote a personal note for disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s 2003 birthday album, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The report comes as US President Donald Trump and top Democrats continue to trade accusations over past connections to Epstein, who died in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on new sex-trafficking charges.

According to the WSJ, the album compiled for Epstein’s 50th birthday included a handwritten message from Clinton:“It’s reassuring isn’t it, to have lasted as long, across all the years of learning and knowing, adventures and [illegible word], and also to have your childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference and the solace of friends.”

Billionaire Leon Black, fashion designer Vera Wang, and media mogul Mort Zuckerman were also among the high-profile figures who contributed messages to the album, the newspaper said.

A spokesman for Clinton declined to comment on the note but reiterated that the former president had severed ties with Epstein long before his 2019 arrest and was unaware of his alleged crimes.

Last week, the WSJ reported that the same album included a letter from Trump featuring a drawing of a naked woman. Trump responded with a defamation suit.

Both senior Democrats and some of Trump’s allies have accused the Department of Justice and the FBI of a coverup after the agencies denied the existence of Epstein’s client list and found no foul play in his death, which was officially ruled a suicide. Trump, for his part, has claimed that the case is being used to discredit his presidency.

Musk’s Starlink suffers global outage

Ukrainian media report that soldiers are experiencing problems using the Western-supplied communication terminals on the battlefield

Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service, which is actively used by Ukrainian troops, suffered a global outage on Thursday.

The network went down at around 3:13pm ET (7:13pm GMT), Doug Madory, an internet analyst at the firm Kentik, told Reuters.

Musk apologized on his platform X, promising to fix the issue quickly. “Service will be restored shortly. Sorry for the outage. SpaceX will remedy root cause to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” he wrote Thursday evening.

“Starlink is currently in a network outage and we are actively implementing a solution,” the company said in a brief statement.

Ukraine operates more than 40,000 Starlink terminals, which provide communications for critical infrastructure and help soldiers coordinate attacks and carry out strikes.

Robert Brovdi, thecommander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, said that Starlink was offline for two and a half hours. “Connectivity has been fully reestablished along the entire front line,” he wrote on Telegram early Friday.

Elon Musk has repeatedly clashed with Ukrainian officials, urging negotiations with Moscow and warning against further escalation between Russia and the West.

He has criticized Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky for not holding elections under martial law and once claimed that Zelensky was “despised by the people of Ukraine.”

Despite his criticisms, Musk has vowed not to shut down Starlink access for Ukrainian troops. “To be extremely clear, no matter how much I disagree with the Ukraine policy, Starlink will never turn off its terminals,” he wrote on X earlier this year.

Germany investing in ‘spy cockroaches’ – Reuters

The EU’s largest economy has accelerated funding in defense tech startups as part of its militarization drive

Germany is heavily investing in futuristic warfare technologies, including surveillance cockroaches and AI-powered robots, as part of its militarization drive, Reuters reported Wednesday.

The outlet spoke to two dozen executives, investors, and policymakers to examine how the EU’s largest economy aims to play a central role in the rearming of the continent.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz recently announced plans to increase Germany’s overall military budget to €153 billion ($180 billion) by 2029, up from €86 billion this year. He pledged to allocate 3.5% of GDP to defense under a new NATO framework to counter what he called a direct threat from Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed Western concerns about Russian aggression as “nonsense,” accusing NATO of using fear to justify increasing military budgets.

According to Reuters sources, Merz’s government views AI and start-up technology as critical to its plans. This week, the cabinet approved a draft procurement law designed to streamline the process for startups developing cutting-edge technologies, from tank-like robots and unmanned mini-submarines to surveillance cockroaches. The law aims to help such companies quickly contribute to the modernization of Germany’s armed forces.

Startups like Munich-based Helsing, which specializes in AI and drone technology, alongside established defense contractors such as Rheinmetall and Hensoldt, are now leading Germany’s military innovation, the article said.

Critics of the German government’s policies warn that continued military spending could strain the national budget and further damage the country’s industry, already burdened by rising energy costs, the fallout from sanctions on Russia, and trade tensions with the US.

Germany has been the second-largest arms supplier to Kiev since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, surpassed only by the US. Russia has consistently denounced Western weapons deliveries, saying they prolong the conflict and risk escalating tensions. Moscow has warned that Berlin’s policies could lead to a new armed conflict with Russia, decades after the end of World War II.

‘Ganba’ in Kiev: Zelensky goes to war with Washington’s men

Zelensky has picked a fight with Ukraine’s Western-backed elites – and it may backfire

Ukraine is seeing its first mass protests since the start of the conflict with Russia – and they’re not about battlefield losses or conscription raids, but corruption. Or rather, a particular kind of corruption: the kind linked to Vladimir Zelensky’s attempts to seize control of the country’s anti-corruption agencies.

Since July 22, thousands have taken to the streets chanting “Ganba!” (“Shame!”), echoing the spirit of past Maidan uprisings. But this is no popular revolt. It’s a turf war – an internal power struggle between two rival camps in Ukraine’s elite.

On one side are Zelensky and his right-hand man, Andrey Yermak – let’s call them the “Office faction,” based in Bankova Street. On the other are the foreign-funded NGOs, intelligence-linked assets, and the remnants of former President Pyotr Poroshenko’s political machine. These include the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) – bodies created at the West’s insistence to impose external control over Ukrainian politics.

The spark was a recent bill rammed through the Rada (national legislature) in emergency mode. The law stripped NABU and SAPO of their autonomy and placed them under the control of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General – effectively, Zelensky’s office. In other words, the very agencies tasked with investigating corruption must now report to the people they’re meant to investigate.

Unsurprisingly, the “anti-corruption” camp cried foul. But this isn’t really about clean government – it’s about influence. For years,NABU and SAPO have operated as instruments of Western leverage, particularly from the Democratic Party establishment in Washington. They answered more to US and EU embassies than to the Ukrainian people. And Zelensky has finally had enough.

The timing is no accident. With Donald Trump back in power, the institutional support once enjoyed by the Poroshenko-era clique is fading. Zelensky saw an opening – and struck.

His first move came earlier this year with corruption cases targeting Poroshenko himself. Now, he’s gone after the crown jewels of Western liberal influence in Kiev. The message is clear: there is to be no parallel power structure. The president wants full control.

But it may be a gamble too far.Western European officials, already frustrated with Kiev’s domestic conduct, quickly warned that Ukraine’s EU accession bid could be blocked. The opposition, sensing blood, brought people into the streets – and unlike previous protests, these gained traction fast. On Wednesday, the Bankova realised the crowd wasn’t going home.

The real question now is whether Zelensky will stand firm or retreat. Early in his presidency, he was terrified of sharing Viktor Yanukovich’s fate and often folded under public pressure. But war changes men. He now rules over a cleansed political landscape, has a wartime excuse to quash dissent, and is backed by a disciplined vertical of power. Yermak, a ruthless operator, may urge him to dig in.

Yet the risks are considerable. Zelensky has never managed to convince Western Europe that he’s irreplaceable. If Brussels decides to pull the plug – financially or politically – his position could unravel fast. The same donors who once backed him could soon be shopping for a more pliant successor.

And even if he climbs down and restores NABU and SAPO’s powers, the damage is done. The opposition has momentum.Western backers will start asking tough questions. And the illusion of Zelensky as a unifying, democratic wartime leader will take another hit.

None of this means Ukraine is headed for collapse –but it does suggest Zelensky is more vulnerable than he appears. His grip on power now depends on how far he’s willing to go to silence opposition, both foreign and domestic. If he wins this standoff, he’ll emerge as the undisputed master of Ukraine. If he loses, it could trigger a slow bleed of authority that leads to a political reckoning.

The most likely outcome? A messy stalemate. Zelensky may backtrack enough to appease the EU but not enough to restore full control to the Western-funded agencies. The protests may fizzle or grow, depending on how much oxygen the opposition and its foreign patrons can pump in.

But whatever happens, one thing is clear: Ukraine’s politics are fracturing again. The West’s man in Kiev is no longer playing by the West’s rules. And his enemies – both at home and abroad – are watching closely.

For now, all we can do is enjoy the show. And hope it runs a while longer.

Ron Klain Tells Congressional Investigators that Hillary Clinton and Jake Sullivan Sounded the Alarm on Joe Biden in 2024

by Cristina Laila Jul. 24, 2025 9:40 pm

As reported earlier, Joe Biden’s White House Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, testified before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday about Biden’s health decline.

According to reports, unlike other Biden officials whom the Oversight Committee deposed, Ron Klain cooperated with Congressional investigators and did not invoke his Fifth Amendment rights.

Klain was talking a lot and answering all of the questions during his deposition.

GOP Rep. Andy Biggs said to reporters: “In my opinion, he’s not trying to avoid answering the questions.”

WATCH:

Fox News reported later Thursday that Ron Klain told Congressional investigators that Hillary Clinton and Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan approached her and sounded the alarm on Biden just months before he dropped out of the 2024 election.

Klain defended Biden’s mental acuity, however, he disclosed that Hillary Clinton and Jake Sullivan said Joe Biden was not “politically viable.”

Fox News reported:

Ex-President Joe Biden’s former chief of staff Ron Klain told House investigators that Hillary Clinton approached him with concerns about the octogenarian leader’s political viability “by 2024,” Fox News Digital has learned.

Klain spoke with staff on the House Oversight Committee for over five hours on Thursday, as Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., continues to probe whether top Biden aides concealed signs of mental decline in the ex-president.

A source familiar with his voluntary interview told Fox News Digital that Klain believed Biden was mentally sharp enough to serve as president, and was not too old to run.

But the ex-secretary of state and former Biden national security adviser Jake Sullivan both “approached Ron Klain stating they believed Joe Biden was not politically viable” months before he dropped his re-election bid in July 2024, the source said.

Sullivan told Klain that Biden “was less effective in 2024 compared to 2022,” the source said.

(When was he ever effective?)

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Kagan Takes Veiled Shot at Trump During Judicial Conference

by Cristina Laila Jul. 24, 2025

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan took a veiled shot at President Trump during a judicial conference on Thursday.

Kagan did not mention President Trump by name but she warned against threatening and said court orders must always be obeyed.

Politico reported:

As the Trump administration’s clash with the judiciary intensifies, Supreme Court JusticeElena Kagan issued a message on Thursday: Stop threatening judges, and always obey court orders.

But Kagan spoke in vague terms and did not say who her warning was aimed at. She did not directly mention President Donald Trump, even as some lower-court judges have already found that the administration has defied their commands.

“That’s just just not the way our system works, not the way rule of law in this country works,” Kagan said at a judicial conference here. “That’s true for the Supreme Court, and it’s also true for every district court. Unless and until an appellate court or the Supreme Court says otherwise, judicial orders are judicial orders and need to be respected.”

Kagan cautioned the hundreds of judges in the audience not to respond to verbal attacks by lashing out in their decisions, but by carrying out their duties as they normally do.

Last month Supreme Court Justice Roberts once again took a veiled shot at Trump and said attacks against judge can lead to violence.

This is the fourth time that Roberts has publicly rebuked Trump in recent months.

Roberts didn’t call out Trump by name but he decried ad hominem attacks against justices.

The Chief Justice made the latest remarks on Saturday during an appearance at a judicial conference.

Roberts also rebuked President Trump in the Spring during a fireside chat in New York.

Speaking at a fireside chat to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the US District Court for the Western District of New York, Justice Roberts lashed out at Trump for his calls to impeach radical judges.

“Well, I’ve already spoken to that and, you know, impeachment is not how you register disagreement with decisions,” Roberts said in front of hundreds of judges and lawyers.

“The judiciary is a co-equal branch of government, separate from the others, with the authority to interpret the Constitution as law and strike down, obviously, acts of Congress or acts of the president,” he said.

Politico Wants You To Believe The Massive Russiagate Scandal Is Just A Story About Trump’s ‘Impulses’

July 24, 2025

Politico severely downplayed the latest news regarding one of the biggest presidential scandals in historyas merely an “impulse” by the Trump administration on Thursday. The outlet has a long history of peddling the fully fabricated, years-long Russia collusion hoax.

Politico’s “Playbook,” which was sponsored by Planned Parenthood in April, is the “unofficial guide to official Washington” that rounds up the biggest news in D.C. Under its “Democracy” section,Politico barely alluded to the administration’s moveto declassify information that could lead to Obama being investigated for “criminal implications,”suggesting instead that the Trump administration is “follow[ing] through on his angriest and most authoritarian impulses.”

The quote is from a New York Times article, the only article Politico chose to highlight on the matter, which claims Trump is “seeking prosecution of his most prominent rivals— this time with aides more inclined to carry out his wishes.”

The recently declassified material makes it clear that the Obama administration“manufactured” intelligence and used shoddy information to launch the widespread lie that Russia helped Trump win the 2016 election — an action that DNI Tulsi Gabbard described as “treasonous” during a White House press briefing on Wednesday.

In Thursday’s post, Politico deemed birthdays andrandom information as newsworthy, like Benjamin Franklin’s appearance on the “250th anniversary stamps from the Postal Service,” Rep. Ro Khanna recording a podcast with Barstool Sport’s “@PFTCommenter and Arian Foster,” and Pete Buttigieg “making another appearance on The Breakfast Club.”

Yet the outlet left the news about the monumental scandal as the last pointin their “Democracy” section, buried under paragraphs about the “Epstein list.” Even Politico acknowledged that public information regarding the Epstein matter “does not point to a crime on Trump’s part.”

Politico was already downplaying the news on Wednesday, characterizing Tulsi Gabbard’s release of the bombshell House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence informationas the “latest push to cast doubts on Russia assessment.”

Near the beginning of the Russiagate campaign of lies, Politico published an article titled “Here’s What America Needs to Know About Trump and Russia.” Citing the CIA, Politico claimed that “Russia hacked both the Democratic Party and the Clinton campaign, and the goal was to help Trump win.”

In a 2018 article titled “Trump Is Russia’s Weapon — Not Its End State,” Politico asserted that“Russia gave Trump a boost.” Politico also published an entire articlededicated to “debunking” Russiagate “conspiracy theoriesadvanced by the president or his allies.”

This article peddled the claim that the “the yearslong investigation into whether President Donald Trump or members of his 2016 campaign colluded with Russia” was “adequately predicated” andfree from “political bias.”

In 2019, the Trump administration filed a $25 million lawsuit against Politico, including its reporter Natasha Bertrand, for “lying, deceit and unethical conduct” for stories regarding “what the president was told about the situation in Ukraine,” Fox News reported.

Bertrand built her career on consistent Russiagate lies published in Politico and even published the letter signed by 51 intelligence officials to propagate the lie that Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” was a Russian disinformation. Two former Politico reporters,Marc Caputo and Tara Palmeri, said they were told, “Don’t write about the laptop,” while Politico set the premise that the laptop was merely propaganda.

Politico’s current campaign to ignore the revelations about Russiagate does not come as a surprise, because, as The Federalist’s Brianna Lyman noted of the corporate media,“Reporting honestly on the newly declassified findings would mean admitting they are indeed propagandists and were involved in peddling a hoax.”

Fired DOJ Official Sought To 'Sway' Venezuelan Deportation Case

Shawn Fleetwood1/2

A former Justice Department official and outspoken critic of Trump judicial nominee Emil Bove advised his colleagues on how to “sway” the Trump administration’s litigation strategy in a case involving the deportation of Venezuelan gang members in a way he found to be personally favorable, The Federalist has learned.

The revelation came to fruition in new documents obtained by The Federalist that shine a light on Erez Reuveni’s conduct in a case(J.G.G. v. Trump) over President Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport Tren de Aragua gang members. Reuveni served as acting deputy director for the Office of Immigration Litigation until early April, when he was suspended and subsequently fired for failing to “zealously advocate on behalf of the United States,” according to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

While Reuveni’s dismissal came after his reportedly improper handling of the DOJ’s deportation of Salvadoran national Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the new records acquired by The Federalist document his willingness to advance his own preferred litigation strategy over that of DOJ leadership.

The matter in question first kicked up on March 15, when Obama-appointed District Judge James Boasberg issued a temporary restraining order attempting to bar the Trump administration from deporting the group of illegal aliens under the AEA. As The Federalist’s Margot Cleveland reported, by the time Boasberg issued a written order that day enjoining the administration from deporting the group of Venezuelans covered under the president’s directive, “the Trump Administration had already removed two planes filled with illegal aliens from the United States.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later argued the foreign gang members “had already been removed from U.S. territory” by the time of Boasberg’s edict, and that “the written order and the administration’s actions do not conflict.”

After requesting a series of explanations from the administration in a March 17 order, Boasberg issued another directive on March 18. He demanded the government “file ex parte and under seal (or submit to the Court) a declaration” including specific details about “the two flights leaving U.S. airspace before 7:25 p.m. on March 15, 2025.” Boasberg required the administration to file a response by noon the following day.

This prompted the DOJ to file an emergency motion to stay the March 18 order on March 19. The motion asked, in part, that the Obama judge grant the administration more time to “evaluat[e] whether to invoke the state secrets privilege as to portions of the information sought by this Court’s order” that may pertain to sensitive national security matters — a prospective issue Boasberg referenced during the case’s March 17 hearing.

Boasberg granted in part and denied in part the motion that day, giving defendants until noon on March 20 to “provide the information discussed in the Minute Order of March 18, 2025, or to invoke the state-secrets doctrine and explain the basis for such invocation.”

The prospect of invoking state secrets privilege in the case did not appear to sit well with Reuveni. The then-DOJ official sent an email to several colleagues on March 19, in which he took it upon himself to opine that such privilege “has no application here.”

“Hopefully this doesn’t ripen into an issue, and we comply with this order and submit the declaration as required by 12 noon (absent a stay of that order from a higher court and that is the only offramp I see as viable),and without invoking a privilege that has no application here,” Reuveni wrote.

Reuveni went on to declare that he would “withdraw from the case” if DOJ leadership did not follow his preferred approach to the case. The more notable part of the email, however, came in the following sentences, in which Reuveni seemingly encouraged his colleagues to do the same as a way of potentially altering the agency’s ultimate handling of the matter.

“If, however, folks upstairs decide to do something other than that, I will withdraw from this case and will decline to appear on any further briefings, whatever the consequences may be,” Reuveni wrote.“You all have to make your own decisions, but that is what I would advise. And if it comes to it, our collective civil/career group taking that position might help sway the outcome.”

“Hope it doesn’t come to this, I expect most likely it won’t, but getting this down in writing now before things get crazy again,” he added.

Reuveni is not known for having detailed experience with the subject of state secrets privilege, and it’s unclear why he felt confident in attempting to override the Trump administration’s legal strategy on that matter given his lack of experience.

The DOJ ultimately invoked state secrets privilege in the case on March 24.

In recent months, Reuveni has become a favorite among Democrats and their media allies. Both parties have attempted to use Reuveni’s allegations to try and sink Trump judicial nominee Emil Bove’s nomination to the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals.

As part of his allegations, Reuveni has claimed that Bove — previously his superior at the agency — instructed DOJ officials to defy court orders.Documents previously reportedby The Federalist undermine such claims, however.

The U.S. Senate invoked cloture (50-48) on Bove’s nomination Thursday afternoon. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, voted in opposition, while Sens. Katie Britt, R-Ala., and Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., did not vote.
