Mike Rowe Discusses AI Destroying White Collar Jobs While 7 Million Blue Collar Jobs Are Unfilled==

Mike Rowe, an author, television host and narrator, said that artificial intelligence (AI) is coming for white collar jobs that include writing, accounting, law, coding, and more. Meanwhile, there are millions of blue collar jobs available.

He said that currently, the energy sector needs half a million workers and manufacturing has an additional half million jobs unfilled. In addition, the American submarine industrial base needs a 140,000 welders and electricians while the automotive industry needs 80,000 collision repair and technicians.

Rowe pointed out that there are currently 7.6 million open positions in the country right now. The problem is that there is a will gap and a declining birth rate. White collar jobs have been elevated over blue collar work. Five tradesmen retire every year and only two replace them. Shop classes were yanked out of schools and the workforce is out of balance.

AI data centers are driving the biggest surge in US electric demand in decades, leading to higher residential utility bills. New facilities are consuming as much power as towns or small cities, coinciding with a wave of older power plants shutting down.
