Video of Trump Defying Royal Protocol When Meeting Queen Resurfaces
Published Sep 09, 2022 at 9:09 AM EDT
The video dates back to Trump's visit to the U.K. back in July 2018, when the former president ended up going viral for all the wrong reasons following his meeting with the queen.
The queen hosted Trump at Windsor Castle on July 13 in an engagement that saw the pair inspect a Guard of Honor, formed of the Coldstream Guards.
However, as the viral footage shows, the inspection did not exactly go to plan. As Trump and the queen begin walking, the monarch can be seen gesturing to the ex-president, seemingly attempting to direct him where to go.
Trump is seen walking ahead of her while the queen attempts to move behind him to his other side. At this point, Trump stops, seemingly unclear at what he should be doing next.
The queen then returns to where she was at the beginning of the inspection. While the entire awkward encounter was over in a few seconds, social media was quick to pick up on the bizarre exchange.
More significantly still, it was subsequently reported by Slate that Trump had broken the BBC's own list of rules for meeting the queen which warn you must never "turn your back on Her Majesty" as "it is considered rude."
The queen's death prompted Trump's detractors to revisit the incident, with Trump_Detester, the account sharing the clip, describing it as "cringe worthy" moment that made the ex-president a "worldwide embarrassment."
Some attempted to defend Trump's conduct in the clip, with one viewer arguing: "I believe if you watch the lady you will see her usher him to walk in front of her giving him right of passage."
BritAnons at the time (2018) knew when they watched this clip that PDJT controlled the monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth II’s awkward run-in with Donald Trump boils down to one key reason
Donald Trump made a state visit to the UK in 2018, and it left a lot of people upset, except… for one.
Donald Trump's State Visit to the UK in 2018 will probably go down in history as the time the US President walked in front of the British monarch.
According to royal reporter Rebecca English, who appeared on a special episode of Palace Confidential, she said Trump appeared to be nervous and he didn’t really know what to do in terms of inspecting the Queen's Guard, which is what they were doing on the Palace lawn.

Typically, the rule is, the monarch would walk first with everyone else following a step or two behind, but that wasn’t the case during Trump’s visit, and it left a lot of people up in in arms, but there was one person who was not upset.
English, who is a part of the Royal Rota and travels with members of the Royal Family, said: “I think the whole kind of issue with the Queen and Donald Trump, was that his actual nervousness, he didn’t really know what to do, and he was kind of stopping and starting, and slightly moving in the way, and it looked about awkward.
At the time of the visit, the folks over at CNN said Trump looked like he was “walking up and down a golf course," which comes across as if he wasn't taking the event seriously, but if English's assumptions are correct, he may have been out of his element and at a bit of a loss.
In terms of the Queen’s feelings about his behavior, English said: “I’ve spoken to people really close to her about this, and I think it’s one of those cases, the people around the principal get more head up about these things than the principal does themselves."
