I completely understand that our world runs on a system of alliances of agreements which can't be broken without serious consequences. That's fine, if that's the only way we've managed to make this world work.

The problem, however, is that the technologies which are being attempted are proving to be massively destructive so long as we keep trying to use them to shape reality into the form of those alliances and agreements, rather than actually pursuing reality with them.

There is no way this state of affairs can't fail.
