I think it's clear the baddies are going down one way or the other, and there are several contingency plans.
Plan A is carefully designed to preserve the public's confidence in the republic and its institutions by letting the system "heal itself from within", while keeping necessary covert operations covert.
Plan B just uses deadly force as required and damn the consequences, because this war MUST be won!.
And that's the reason for the "slow and boring" story we're following - we're still on Plan A! Let's hope it stays this way, because the more fun and exciting (and infinitely more satisfying) alternative would cause long term damage to the US and the world.
Kudos to Q and team for resisting the temptation to just round up the fuckers in front of a firing squad and be done with it!
