The treasury sec. has this authority under Section 31 U.S.C. § 5112 of the United States Code for the Treasury Department to "mint and issue platinum bullion coins" in any denominations the Secretary of the Treasury may choose. Remember Obama and Geitner were going to do this to avoid a government shutdown. The wall is important and the act of doing this would make Dems heads explode.
