Dharmasthala Mass Burial Probe: Skeletal Remains Found At 6th Site | Karnataka News | India Today

India Today

This report focuses on a major development in the investigation into alleged mass burials in Dharamsthala. A whistleblower, a former sanitation worker, claimed that hundreds of people, including sexually assaulted women, were slain and buried in the area. After excavating five sites with no results, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has found partial skeletal remains at the sixth spot, located in a forest area across the Netravati river. This is the first lead found in the probe. According to police sources, they have found partial skeletal remains in that particular spot. Forensic teams are collecting evidence, including soil samples, from the site, which is adjacent to the bathing ghat used by devotees. The whistleblower has identified approximately 13 to 15 potential burial locations.

Dharmasthala Burials: Cops Admit To Erasing 15 Years Of Unidentified Death Records | India Today

India Today

The Belthangady Police in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district have come under sharp criticism after admitting to destroying key records of unidentified death cases registered between 2000 and 2015 — a timeframe that overlaps almost entirely with the period during which a whistleblower has alleged mass burials took place in Dharmasthala, a temple town located within the same taluk.

The erasure of these records has triggered deep concern, as the whistleblower claims that between 1998 and 2014, he was forced to bury and cremate the bodies of women and minors, many of whom, he alleges, bore signs of sexual assault.
