When I considered the consequences of quantum uncertainty, and entertained the thought that we may have made some sort of fundamental mistake much earlier in our development which has remained invisible until the advent of modern technology, I began to question everything I encountered. The very first thing that came to mind is that my teachers had convinced me that society had "finally" abandoned the notion of God, although human society could not have possibly developed without such ideas (because it didn't). I was uneasy with the idea of abandoning God without proper investigation, and so I decided to spend my life doing just that, and if I should actually learn that God is real, then I would attempt to bring something back to show others, that even if I can't show them directly I could at least show them hope, and that there really is something out there worth living for.

It's not just all meaningless random chance.
