1 Thessalonians 2:14-16

Israeli settlers attacked Russian diplomats – Moscow

The Israeli military did not stop the attack despite being present at the scene, according to the Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman

A Russian diplomatic vehicle was attacked last week by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, resulting in mechanical damage, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday. She added that Russia considers the incident a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

According to Zakharova, the incident occurred on July 30 near the illegal Israeli settlement of Giv'at Asaf, located just east of Ramallah and about 20 kilometers north of Jerusalem. She said the settlers also shouted threats at the diplomats. The spokeswoman slammed the Israeli military’s failure to intervene, denouncing their inaction “particularly puzzling.”

“The Israeli Defense Force soldiers didn’t even bother to try and stop the attackers’ aggressive actions,” she said.

The vehicle was carrying members of Russia’s diplomatic mission to the Palestinian Authority, who are also accredited with Israel’s Foreign Ministry, according to Moscow.

“We regard this incident as a blatant violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,” Zakharova said, adding that the Russian embassy in Tel Aviv has submitted an official note to the Israeli authorities.

Last month, the Kremlin reiterated that the only solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict lies in the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel. “Russia has always adhered to a two-state solution as the basis for resolving the Palestinian issue,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

Moscow’s recognition dates back to 1988, when the Soviet Union endorsed the Palestinian declaration of independence.

The statement comes amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which began in October of 2023 after a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel left around 1,200 people dead. Israel’s military response has since killed more than 59,000 Palestinians, according to health authorities in the enclave, and has drawn global criticism for its scale of destruction and civilian casualties.

The AI Revolution is Now Shifting Into Phase 2

All technological revolutions follow two phases:

The initial breakthrough phase, which occurs before social/legal frameworks are in place.

The “normalization” phase during which social/legal frameworks are implemented giving the technology a societal and financial legitimacy.

If you need a real-world example of this, think of the electronic music file or MP3 revolution. The first phase was Napster, which featured the sharing of music in what was later deemed as illegal activity (the legal framework was not yet ready for the technology).

Then along came iTunes: the normalized version of the technology in which MP3s could be bought and sold in a legally acceptable form.

AI is now entering phase 2 in its own revolution. On July 23rd 2025, the Trump administration published its America’s AI Action Plan.

The plan outlines three “pillars” for positioning the United States as a leader in AI, specifically, cutting regulations, building infrastructure, and a loose plan for establishing AI security. I’ve put together an overview of these positions below:

Pillar 1: Accelerate AI Innovation

This pillar focuses on fostering private-sector-led development of advanced AI systems and their applications to boost productivity, job creation, and scientific progress. Key objectives include eliminating regulatory hurdles, promoting open AI models, and integrating AI across industries and government.

Pillar 2: Build American AI Infrastructure

Aimed at addressing the foundational needs for AI scaling, this pillar tackles energy, semiconductors, and cybersecurity to match the pace of innovation and counter adversaries' rapid infrastructure growth.

Pillar 3: Lead in International AI Diplomacy and Security

This pillar seeks to export U.S. AI technologies globally while safeguarding them from adversaries, aligning international standards, and countering foreign influence to maintain strategic advantages.

Beware The AI Industrial Complex

What makes an industrial complex is frontier technology, with feedback loops powerful enough to steer both markets and public policy.

Economists describe five telltale traits: mutual dependency between state and suppliers; capital costs so high that only a few firms can play; standards written by insiders; external costs shifted to the public; and a strategic framing (“national security,” “global competitiveness”) that evades scrutiny.

By that definition, we are witnessing the construction of an AI industrial complex, and its socioeconomic wake is already visible.

The early externalities: Power and water

The International Energy Agency projects that, by 2030, global data‑center electricity demand will double to roughly 945 TWh — a trillion watts used per hour. That is about the annual consumption of Japan. Much of that growth is traceable to AI inference and training workloads. The strain is leaking into household bills.

In Virginia, Dominion Energy has requested a $10.92/month fuel‑rate increase for the “typical” home customer, citing higher gas prices and PJM capacity charges driven in part by data‑center growth. The request is still pending.

Prices in PJM’s latest capacity auction cleared 22 % higher than last year; the East Coast grid operator estimates that will add between 1.5%  and 5 % to retail bills beginning next summer.

Electricity is only half the story. Google’s environmental report shows its hyperscale facilities used nearly 6 billion gallons of fresh water in 2024, up 8 % year‑on‑year, a jump Google attributes largely to AI. The company says it “replenished” 64 % of that total, but the replenishment often happens far from the aquifers it drains. Out West, drought‑stressed cities respond by digging deeper municipal wells or raising water rates — expenses that never appear on a quarterly earnings call.

PROJECT 2025

Project 2025 (also known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project) is a political initiative published in April 2022 by the American pro-oligarchical think tank the Heritage Foundation. The project promotes right-wing policies to reshape the federal government of the United States and consolidate executive power.

Project 2025 is the ninth iteration of the Mandate for Leadership series, published since 1981. Perhaps Heritage Foundation'S most influential moment came during Reagan’s first term with its first “Mandate for Leadership”. The foundation claims that Reagan gave copies of the manifesto to “every member of his Cabinet” and that nearly two-thirds of the policy recommendations it laid out were either “adopted or attempted”.

More than $120 million from a few ultra-wealthy families has powered the Heritage Foundation and other groups that created the radical plan known as Project 2025 to dismantle and reshape the governmental infrastructure of the United State of America for the benefit of themselves.

More than 100 nonprofits led by The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank that has engaged in climate change denial and obstruction for decades, have signed on as advisors to the Project 2025’s 900-page “Mandate for Leadership” document — a plan to rapidly “reform,” or radically alter, the U.S. government by shuttering bureaus and offices, overturning regulations, and replacing thousands of public sector employees with hand-picked political allies.

For decades, Heritage has engaged behind the scenes in directing GOP policy, narratives and talking points. The foundation are largely focused on promoting divisive wedge issues and protecting the wealth, businesses and industries of their donors.

Heritage's major donations are linked to the family fortunes of a handful of wealthy industrialists who have spent years working against government taxes on the ultra-rich, environmental regulations and promoting climate change denial. Though Heritage describes Project 2025 as a mainstream effort to “return government to the people,” its funding sources suggest something far less populist: a vehicle for the obsessions of ultra-rich donors.

In its official Project 2025 materials, The Heritage Foundation leadership repeatedly draws attention to the size and diversity of its advisory board, suggesting that its numerous “coalition partners” are part of a broad, “movement-wide effort” representing a variety of independent viewpoints.

“Project 2025 is unparalleled in the history of the conservative movement—both in its size and scope but also for organizing [so many] different groups under a single banner,” the organization wrote in an October 2023 press release.

But an analysis of financial disclosure forms shows the same small group of donors supporting Project 2025’s advisors again and again — hardly a sign of ideological diversity. Of the 110 nonprofits formally supporting Project 2025, almost 50 received major donations from the same six sources of wealth since 2020.

Many of the organizations the six families funded also have close ties to Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.

Trump has repeatedly denied involvement in or knowledge of Project 2025, though that position conflicts with a growing number of news reports — a disavowal made more awkward by the fact that Vance wrote the foreword to Dawn’s Early Light: Taking Back Washington To Save America, a book by Heritage Foundation president Kevin D. Roberts that describes his Project 2025 vision.

Heritage describes Project 2025 as a mainstream effort to “return government to the people,” its funding sources suggest something far less populist: a vehicle for the obsessions of ultra-rich donors on the far-right fringe, pushing an agenda to destroy American democracy and rewrite laws and regulations as they please.
