Matt Walsh Compares Gun Control in US to Machete Ban Following Knife Crime Sprees in Australia
There has been a rise in machete and knife attacks in Australia that is being covered up because the identity of the perpetrators is censored because they are typically young male migrants in migrant gangs. Matt Walsh reported that tens of thousands of people in Australia have been terrorized by machete attacks and have been left completely helpless due to gun control. Police response can take up to 30 minutes.
Gun control laws and gun buybacks were implemented in Australia in 1996. Gun buybacks did not work in Australia – a study showed that in 2008 there was no tangible reductions in firearms deaths. This was because only law-abiding gun owners turned in their guns while criminals kept theirs. Violence cannot be stopped by banning the weapons used to commit it.
Similarly, gun buybacks in the United States have been ineffective; in 2020, the firearm homicide rate for young black males was 20 times higher than it was for white males of the same age. Young black males are not handing in their guns. A study showed that most participants in US gun buybacks were older white men.
