This Gen X anon learned to bake bread in my grandma's wood burning stove. Wood was scarce on the north central plains so we burned corn cobs. Red cobs to get the heat up and white cobs burned slower to maintain heat. Grandma anon spoke Gaelic and didn't have any smoke alarms.
