In oregon, BLM just cut down the historical hangman's tree in Baker County.

"This is infuriating and heartbreaking. The BLM (Bureau of Land Management) came in and arbitrarily cut down this tree. This wasn’t just any tree. This was the famous century-old hangman’s tree between Mormon Basin and Rye Valley. They had to remove the historic markers and take away the explanation book that was attached to the tree in order to cut it. I was a tiny child when my grandparents first hauled me out there…
It was not a danger. It was slightly charred but still solid as is very clear from the photo. It was also one of the most colorful, rich historic sites in Baker County and in fact, the entire state of Oregon. If you go to the link and explanation posted below, you’ll see more.
