I feel like they are failing these tests not because the system is subpar or faulty… I think they are pushing the envelope with these tests by running difficult intercept scenarios on purpose. Probably downplaying the system's capabilities so the enemy thinks we are vulnerable when in reality the thing can deal just fine with standard missile threats.

Thats most likely a helium tank from a rocket or a hydrazine tank from a satellite. Titanium… probably carbon fiber wrapped before it all burnt off reentering.. key is it is VERY lightweight so the small divot in the ground is to be expected.
