More than 60 supporters of the ruling party and 16 police officers were injured in a standoff in Novi Sad, officials say

Violent clashes have broken out across Serbia between anti-government protesters and ruling party supporters, leaving dozens injured. The Balkan country has been wracked by unrest for months. Activists are demanding early parliamentary elections and accountability for the deadly collapse of a railway station canopy late last year.

The fiercest standoff took place on Wednesday in the city of Novi Sad, where protesters gathered around the office of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). The party’s supporters and protesters threw flares and other objects at each other, with demonstrators also smashing the building’s windows.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that 64 people were injured at the premises of SNS in Novi Sad alone. He claimed that the protesters “approached from the rear with sticks, cannon shots, [and] attacked,” adding that the pro-government activists “will not retreat, they opposed the beaters and blockaders” whom he called “thugs.”

The president added that 16 police officers who intervened were also injured while accusing unnamed foreign powers of orchestrating the unrest. “Persons who violated the law will be apprehended… Tonight, we have averted a catastrophic scenario planned by someone from abroad,” he said.

Similar scenes unfolded in the capital city of Belgrade, where riot police deployed tear gas to disperse protesters near a park by the parliament building. Demonstrators were blocked from advancing further toward the SNS offices.

Clashes were also reported in Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Nis, and Cacak, with police moving to separate opposing sides in several towns.

Several Serbian ministers, including Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, resigned in the wake of the unrest. The government has published documents related to the canopy collapse.

Smotrich says he’ll okay 3,000 homes east of Jerusalem, ‘burying idea of Palestinian state’

E1 settlement project that would split West Bank into north and south has been on hold for decades amid international pressure; settler leader hails ‘historical achievement’

Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced on Wednesday that he plans to approve tenders to build more than 3,000 housing units in the highly controversial E1 settlement project between Jerusalem and Ma’ale Adumim in the West Bank, saying the move “buries the idea of a Palestinian state.”

He said Thursday that the plan is backed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The project has been frozen for decades amid fierce opposition from the international community, who fear the new settlement neighborhood would prevent the establishment of a contiguous, viable Palestinian state.

“Approval of construction plans in E1 buries the idea of a Palestinian state and continues the many steps we are taking on the ground as part of the de facto sovereignty plan that we began implementing with the establishment of the government,” Smotrich said in his statement on Wednesday.

“After decades of international pressure and freezes, we are breaking conventions and connecting Ma’ale Adumim to Jerusalem. This is Zionism at its best — building, settling, and strengthening our sovereignty in the Land of Israel,” said Smotrich, who is also a minister in the Defense Ministry responsible for the West Bank civilian issues.

Shock Claim: Govt. Docs Reveal Pentagon’s “Self-Spreading” Vaccine Development, Already Passed Animal Trials

The Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) has obtained new documents through a Department of Defense (DoD) request for proposal revealing the U.S. military’s funding of a controversial self-spreading vaccine program known as DARPA INTERCEPT.

The documents reveal, say ICAN, that the animal trials were a success and that the next step of development is to inject terminally-ill humans next.

ICAN reports that Autonomous Therapeutics, a biotech company, has already published results showing successful tests of its self-spreading vaccines in monkeys. Their stated goal is to build “synthetic immune systems.”

FOIA Revelations on “Tiny Trojan Horses”

Last year, ICAN drew public attention to U.S. government studies on self-spreading vaccines. Now, ICAN attorneys have uncovered fresh details showing that DARPA’s INTERCEPT program funded the development of ‘therapeutic interfering particles’ (TIPs). These are engineered viruses designed to act as “tiny Trojan horses” that carry genetic material from person to person.

The FOIA records show that the INTERCEPT program planned not only to create these spreading particles, but also to build computer models to predict how TIPs could move from a single cell to an entire population.

Contract Awarded to Autonomous Therapeutics

Documents reveal a 2016 DoD request for proposal calling for a “biological system for replicating ‘human-like conditions’” to study the evolutionary dynamics of mutating pathogens and diseases. This contract was awarded to Autonomous Therapeutics, co-founded by Ariel and Leor Weinberger.

Leor Weinberger has published research testing TIPs engineered for HIV on rhesus monkeys. He is now pursuing plans to inject TIPs into terminally ill HIV patients. ICAN warns that such genetic payloads could integrate permanently into patients’ DNA and could possibly spread beyond the intended clinical trial population.

Scientists have typically justified this research on the basis that it could be utilized to stop quick outbreaks of major viruses such as Ebola and quickly stop potential pandemics.
