Congressional Republicans continue to try to end funding for all-electric US Postal Service fleet

Congressional Republicans are continuing their efforts to end Biden-era federal funding for the U.S. Postal Service to build an all-all-electric vehicle fleet. 8/17/25

In June, the Senate parliamentarian blocked a GOP effort to sell off existing electric vehicles and infrastructure belonging to the postal service and revoked the remaining EV funding, according to the Associated Press.

The scientific community has argued that the U.S. Postal Service using electric vehicles could reduce carbon emissions which play a role in global warming.

GOP lawmakers have argued that the EV push is pointless, and the postal service should focus on delivering mail.

Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, called the EV federal funding issue a "textbook example of waste.” Critics say there have been long delays in getting the vehicles into service, while supporters say the timeframe was expected.

“You always evaluate the programs, see if they are working," Ernst said at the Iowa state fair. "But the rate at which the company that’s providing those vehicles is able to produce them, they are so far behind schedule, they will never be able to fulfill that contract."

She intends to pursue legislation to rescind what is left of the $3 billion from the President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act allocated to help cover the $10 billion cost of new postal vehicles.

Hamas rejects Israel's plan to relocate residents from Gaza

8/17/25

Palestinian-led Hamas in its war with Israel in Gaza on Sunday rejected a proposal by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to relocate residents from Gaza City, calling it a "new wave of genocide and displacement."

Earlier this month, Netanyahu said Israel intends to fully take it Gaza, which Gaza has ruled, but doesn't want to "keep or govern" the region.

The Israeli Defense Forces said it has plans to relocate residents from combat zones "to ensure their safety," according to Reuters.

The IDF said tents and other equipment would be provided to residents for the relocation.

Hamas said that the tents and other equipment were part of a plan to "cover up a brutal crime that the occupation forces prepare to execute."

Massive protests have erupted in Israel ahead of the IDF's plan to occupy Gaza, according to The Washington Post.

Seattle soda tax fuels $1.75 million in grant funding for 18 food equity projectscrazies rule WA state!

The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods is distributing $1.75 million in soda tax-fueled grant funding to 18 community-led food equity projects.

The food equity projects are receiving shares of the awarded Food Equity Fund grants, ranging from $85,260 to $100,000. Eight of the projects received the maximum $100,000 award. The projects focus on food equity, urban gardening, senior and youth food justice programs, and food distribution sites.

Seattle Department of Neighborhoods received 98 eligible applications totaling $9.2 million in funding requests for the 2025 Food Equity Fund. The grant review process included community leaders.

“With a focus on reaching communities most impacted by health inequities, these grassroots efforts ensure that every neighbor in our city has the nourishment they need to be healthy and thrive,” Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell said in a statement.

The eight programs receiving $100,000 include ALA Garifuna and Amigos de Seattle, which will provide culturally relevant food distributions to around 100 households.

Black Dollar Days Task Force/Clean Greens Farm and Market and FamilyWorks were each granted $100,000 to distribute “culturally relevant” food boxes to low-income African American families and expand North Seattle’s community-based food access programs.

Feed Seven Generations and Kin ON Health Care Center each received $100,000 to support Native American-led food sovereignty initiatives and bilingual nutrition programs for Asian senior citizens.

Lake City Collective and the Indigenous Creatives Collective are each being awarded $100,000 to bolster intergenerational gardening, youth leadership, and Indigenous land restoration through cultural programming.

The $1.75 million in grant funding comes from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods’ Food Equity Fund General Grant, which is provided by revenue from the Sweetened Beverage Tax.

The tax was implemented in 2018 with the primary goal of reducing the sales and consumption of sugary drinks within Seattle. Revenue raised by the tax also goes toward programs intended to increase access to healthy food, as well as programs supporting child health and early learning.

Wisconsin election regulators order new Madison absentee ballot procedures

The Wisconsin Elections Commission ordered the city of Madison to undertake new administrative and procedural changes for future elections.

The Friday order follows the WEC’s investigation into 193 uncounted absentee ballots while former Madison city clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl was in charge during the November 2024 election.

The new order aims to prevent a repeat of Witzel-Behl’s actions, which the commission called a “profound failure” that undermined public confidence in Wisconsin elections.

According to the WEC, the specific order includes changes to the printing of poll books, absentee ballot handling, staff responsibilities and training.

“The order was issued under state law that permits the Commission to mandate changes to practices and procedures whenever an election official has taken actions contrary to law or abused their discretion,” the commission said in a statement shortly after the meeting.

Before approving the order, the commission reserved time for Madison City Attorney and Clerk Mike Haas to provide feedback on the proposed changes.

However, Haas pushed back on the new demands, questioning the commission’s authority to order changes and arguing its proposals don’t account for certain modifications Madison had already taken in response to the Witzel-Behl investigation.

“Regardless of whether there is still an opportunity to fix the error (and here there is not), the Commission’s authority does not extend to requiring the future implementation of specific procedures in excess of those required in the statutes,” Haas previously wrote.

If the Commission truly wishes to dictate the staffing, workflow, and procedures of municipal clerks at such a granular level, a regulatory guidance or rule-making that applies to all jurisdictions and that allows for thoughtful input by local election officials makes far more sense and is likely required.”

Among Haas’ objections were a new procedure requiring the city to print poll books no earlier than the Thursday before an election, which he said could “run the risk of poll books not being ready in time for Election Day.”

However, before the WEC approved the order, commission attorney Angela O’Brien Sharpe shot back at Haas’ claim that the agency couldn’t order Madison to patch its ballot issues, calling it “unreasonable and absurd,” WisPolitics reported.

“Under the City Clerk’s interpretation of the law, the Commission would tell clerks that they have done something wrong but then couldn’t provide a roadmap or instructions for the proper way to administer the legal duty,” Sharpe wrote in a letter.

"Without telling a clerk what the law actually means and how it should be applied, the Commission in some cases would not be doing its job to ensure that the law is followed and to explain to the clerk how to comply.”

During the meeting, the WEC accepted some of Haas’ comments and made modifications to the order, including moving the poll books’ earliest printing date from the Thursday before an election to the Tuesday before.

The order requires Haas to certify compliance with the order in writing to the Commission no later than Jan. 1.

The clerk must also provide a written explanation of the steps taken to comply with each aspect of the order ahead of the statewide election Feb. 17.

RINO Turncoat Mike Pence Demands Trump Bring Down The “Hammer” with Secondary Sanctions on Russia Ahead of Peace Talks (VIDEO)

by Jordan Conradson Aug. 17, 2025 9:00 pm443 Comments

Former Vice President and failed presidential candidate Mike Pence on Sunday went on the attack against his former boss, accusing President Trump of being too soft on Russia in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine and calling on him to bring the “hammer” down.

“I know his style in dealing with these dictators. It’s the velvet glove,” Pence said in a rebuke of the President’s cool and collected dealmaking style. “I think the hammer needs to come, and it needs to come immediately.”

Pence made the comments on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper.

This comes the day before President Trump plans to host a summit at the White House with European leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, to potentially broker an end to the war in Ukraine. Previously, on Friday, Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where the two came to an agreement to secure peace, pending Ukraine and NATO cooperation.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump announced early on Saturday that he spoke with Zelensky, European leaders, and the NATO Secretary General. The President said on Saturday that he will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Monday.

Zelensky will be joined at the White House by several European leaders, including NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

President Trump is also teasing the possibility of a trilateral meeting with himself, Zelensky, and Putin as soon as Friday.

Pence told Jake Tapper that the President "ought to pick up the phone and ask Majority Leader John Thune to to immediately pass the secondary sanctions bill" while he meets with the leaders on Monday. "Putin only understands strength. So, while the President and his diplomatic team engage in this re-approach with Putin, and there seems to be interest, in my judgment, Putin's not going to stop until he stopped," Pence said.

However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday morning outlined the Trump Administration's stance that secondary sanctions could serve as a signal from the United States of "walking away from any prospect of a negotiated settlement here."

WATCH:

Pence: You know, I served alongside the president for four years. I know his style in dealing with these dictators. It’s the velvet glove, but I think the hammer needs to come, and it needs to come immediately. I think the President, as he welcomes President Zelensky to the Oval Office tomorrow and a whole cast of our allies in Europe that are going to be joining him, I think at the same time, he ought to pick up the phone and ask Majority Leader John Thune to to immediately pass the secondary sanctions bill that is supported by virtually everyone in the United States Senate.

I think, the combination of engagement, but also making it clear to Putin that we are prepared to take actions that would literally break his economy, even while we redouble our commitment to the security of Ukraine and to working closely with our European allies is important. Look, I said it before. I'll say it again: In the long history of the last 25 years, Putin has made it clear, he launched an attack into Georgia when President Bush was in office. He attacked Crimea in Ukraine when Obama was in office.

After that disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan, he crossed the border and started this war three years ago. Putin has made it no secret of the fact that he wants to reassert the old Soviet sphere of influence, what we used to call the evil empire in Eastern Europe, and I think Putin only understands strength. So, while the President and his diplomatic team engage in this re-approach with Putin, and there seems to be interest, in my judgment, Putin's not going to stop until he stopped.

(Pence was involved in Russia Hoax, he should be charged with Treason)

Politico Pushes New Hoax, Claiming “Moped Driver” was Randomly Arrested by “Group of Masked Law Enforcement Officers” – WH Press Sec Fires Back with Facts on Illegal Alien Gangster who Assaulted Police

Jordan Conradson Aug. 17, 2025

President Trump announces plan to stop violent crime in Washington, DC – August 11, 2025

Far-left Politico was busted pushing a hoax about Trump’s federal crime crackdown in their periodical “Playbook” newsletter on Saturday, and the paper was publicly issued a correction from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

This comes after President Trump’s declaration of a “public safety emergency” in the nation’s capital, which federalized the DC police force and deployed hundreds of National Guard troops and federal agents on the streets to tackle the rampant crime, homelessness, and illegal immigration crises. President Trump declared last Monday that it was “Liberation Day in DC” and, already, hundreds of criminals have been taken off the streets, along with multiple drugs and weapons seizures.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, West Virginia, Ohio, and South Carolina have pledged hundreds of troops each, in line with his Presidential memorandum authorizing state governors to send their troops, to help President Trump make DC safe again.

Politico reported that "a group of masked law enforcement officers arrested a moped driver" as pedestrians and onlookers demanded answers from the officers. The report, which makes the incident appear to be a random kidnapping and violation of the "moped driver's" rights, continues, "they took the moped driver into an unmarked SUV and spirited him off, destination unknown."

Karoline Leavitt said the piece was "written to fear DC residents into believing federal law enforcement randomly arrested an innocent 'moped driver.'”

Per Politico:

THE IN-BETWEEN: Yesterday morning, just off of 14th Street NW, a group of masked law enforcement officers arrested a moped driver. Onlookers stood near a coffee shop and the entrance to a luxury condo building, recording the altercation on their phones; WaPo reporter Dan Rosenzweig-Ziff was among them. Shouts from the crowd that the officers — whose vests read simply “police” — identify the agency with which they were affiliated were dismissed. “Do I have to answer to you?” one officer barked back, his question rhetorical. “You’ve gotta answer to somebody,” yelled a pedestrian. The officers never identified themselves, never provided their badge numbers, never revealed their agency. They took the moped driver into an unmarked SUV and spirited him off, destination unknown. A block away, the weekend brunch service at Le Diplomate continued without interruption.

Welcome to the first weekend of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on Washington, D.C., which, serious as it has been, is just a prelude — and things could quickly get much more intense.

Three Republican-led states — West Virginia, Ohio and South Carolina — “said Saturday they will send up to 750 National Guard troops to join 800 already mobilized in D.C.,” WaPo’s Karen DeYoung and Gaya Gupta report. It’s not a leap to imagine that other GOP states will scramble to follow suit, given the chance to publicly and tangibly show their support for the Trump administration: “Trump: Yes or no?” continues to be the dividing line defining American politics.

And troops deployed to DC “are preparing to start carrying weapons in the coming days,” WSJ’s Vera Bergengruen and colleagues scooped, “a major shift that comes days after President Trump said he was deploying them to ‘take back’ the capital from what he described as violent criminals.”

Leavitt fired back, condemning the far-left media outlet for refusing to conduct due diligence by asking the White House for more information, and she notified them that the suspect was a criminal illegal alien and potential cartel-affiliated designated foreign terrorist.

Additionally, "the Illegal Alien Criminal resisted arrest and a law enforcement officer suffered a concussion as a result," she said.

@Politico Playbook today was written to fear DC residents into believing federal law enforcement randomly arrested an innocent “moped driver.”

If Politico had reached out to the White House for comment before publishing, we could have provided them with the facts:

The “moped driver” was an Illegal Alien Criminal from Venezuela with suspected gang affiliation and an active final order of removal from the country. Upon his arrest, the Illegal Alien Criminal resisted arrest and a law enforcement officer suffered a concussion as a result.
