Italy opposes Western troop deployment to Ukraine – report

Prime Minister Meloni has reportedly sparred with French President Macron over the issue ahead of talks in Washington

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is opposed to proposals by some European leaders to send troops to Ukraine, the daily Corriere della Sera reported on Monday.

The issue reportedly arose during consultations before several European leaders and Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky traveled to Washington for talks with US President Donald Trump. The visit follows Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday.

According to the report,French President Emmanuel Macron spoke in favor of a joint European deployment, prompting Meloni to respond: “Russia has 1.3 million soldiers – how many should we send to be up to the task?”

In early March, Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the creation of a “coalition of the willing” to provide ground and air forces in a peacekeeping role if Kiev and Moscow reach a truce or a peace deal.

The Italian prime minister instead advocated extending Ukraine protection akin to NATO’s Article 5, which provides for collective defense in case of aggression, without however formally admitting it to the bloc, Corriere reported.

In March, she assured lawmakers in Rome that “sending Italian troops to Ukraine is a topic that has never been on the agenda.”

Germany, Poland, Spain, Romania and Croatia have all also refused to participate in a hypothetical military mission in Ukraine.

Earlier this month, The Sunday Times quoted an anonymous UK defense official as acknowledging that “no one wants to send their troops to die in Ukraine.

Back in April, Sergey Shoigu, secretary of Russia’s National Security Council and former defense minister, warned that the arrival of NATO troops in Ukraine could trigger a third world war.

(this whole plan of sending troops to Ukraine from EU, is gonna fall apart in 6+ months, it’s stupid but they volunteered)

Putin has agreed to ‘security guarantees’ for Ukraine – Trump

The US president is meeting with Kiev’s European backers after a one-on-one summit with the Russian leader

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to accept security guarantees for Ukraine, US President Donald Trump claimed during a meeting with European leaders on Monday.

Trump is hosting Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and Ukraine’s key European backers at the White House. The gathering comes three days after a Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, which both leaders hailed as a positive step toward resolving the Ukraine conflict.

“President Putin agreed that Russia would accept security guarantees for Ukraine,” Trump said, without elaborating. “This is one of the key points that we need to consider. We are going to be considering that at the table also, like who would do what.”

“Essentially, I’m optimistic that collectively we can reach an agreement that would deter any future aggression against Ukraine,” he added.

Ukraine has been insisting on guarantees similar to NATO’s collective defense as one of the preconditions for a lasting peace. Both Russia and the US have ruled out Ukraine’s membership in the US-led alliance.

However, Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff said shortly after last week’s Trump-Putin meeting that the US could offer “Article 5-like protection” to Ukraine, referring to NATO’s principle that an attack on one member be treated as an attack on all.

The Kremlin has not commented on the latest remarks, but has previously said that Russia would not tolerate Western troops on Ukrainian soil. Putin has maintained that Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO are one of the root causes of the conflict.

Ukraine’s drone commander claims attack on Russian pipeline supplying EU

Hungary and Slovakia earlier confirmed that oil deliveries have been halted

The head of Ukraine’s UAV forces has claimed that Kiev’s drones have disabled the Russian pipeline, which delivers oil to Hungary and Slovakia.

Both Budapest and Bratislava confirmed earlier that supplies via the Soviet-era Druzhba pipeline, which runs through Ukraine, had been suspended. Russia has not confirmed the attack

“The Druzhba pipeline is out of service. The flow of oil has been completely halted indefinitely,” Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, wrote on Telegram on Monday evening.

He said Ukrainian drones had struck the Nikolskoye pumping station in Russia’s Tambov region, southwest of Moscow.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto denounced the reported strike as “outrageous and unacceptable,” accusing Kiev of trying to “drag Hungary into the war in Ukraine.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga responded that Hungary should direct its “complaints” to Russia and criticized Budapest for continuing to rely on Russian energy supplies.

Szijjarto, however, maintained that importing oil from Russia is in Hungary’s national interest. “As Hungary’s foreign minister, my mandate is clear: Hungary’s interest comes first. Period,” he wrote on X.

So is anyone in the EU or Europe going to tell Ukraine to stop attacking their access to energy? NO, of course.

Trump drops wartime election quip to Zelensky

The US president joked that his country could also refuse to hold elections should it be in a state of war “with somebody”

The US could also be in a state of war in three and half years, meaning no presidential election could be held, under conditions insisted upon by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, President Donald Trump has joked.

Speaking to media before two crucial meetings with the US president, Zelensky responded to a question on whether he will seek a mandate from the people of Ukraine before signing off on a conflict resolution. Moscow contends that his refusal to do so means Zelensky cannot be a legitimate signatory to any binding resolution.

“We need a truce to make possible democratic open and legal elections,” Zelensky responded. “During a war you can’t have elections,” he claimed.

Trump picked up on it:“So, in three and a half years from now…if we happen to be in a war with somebody… no more elections.”

“You like this idea,” Zelensky told the US president. (look at the nasty and snarky look from Z)

In July Ukraine’s parliament prolonged martial law, which was imposed in 2022 following the escalation of the conflict with Russia, until at least November 5.

Elections are prohibited under these circumstances, but while lawmakers’ terms are automatically extended, the same does not apply to the presidency.

Trump shrugs off ceasefire demand

German Chancellor Merz had insisted a ceasefire must be the result of any future meetings

US President Donald Trump has shrugged off demands from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz that a ceasefire be put in place as a first stage of any lasting resolution to the Ukraine conflict.

At talks in the White House on Monday Merz told the leaders of France, Italy, the UK, Finland, the US and Ukraine as well as the head of NATO and the EU’s Ursula von der Leyen, that “to be honest, we all would like to see a ceasefire, the latest from the next meeting on,” adding he “can’t imagine” a trilateral meeting taking place “without a ceasefire”.(Too bad, you didn’t try to stop the war)

Macron echoed Merz’s comments saying that a ceasefire is a “necessity” and that all the leaders “support this idea.”

Trump however, rejected the suggestions. On several occasions during the talks he has stressed that he has resolved several conflicts in the eight months of his presidency and that none were preceded by a ceasefire.

“All of us would obviously prefer an immediate ceasefire while we work on a lasting peace, and maybe something like that could happen. As of this moment it’s not happening,” he said.

In the six wars that I’ve settled I haven’t had a ceasefire. We just got into negotiations. One of those wars in the Congo was 31 years long. Another that we just got done last week between two great countries was going for 35 years.

“If we can do the ceasefire great, but if we don’t there’s many other points that were given to us, many points, great points.”

Following last week’s Alaska summit,Trump said he favored a permanent peace deal rather than a ceasefire. Moscow has long opposed short-term truces, arguing they could be exploited by Kiev to regroup and rearm.

(These idiot leaders think they can con Trump, everyone knows the history. Kiev and EU used the last two to rearm Kiev, and killed many Russians.)

Zelensky’s exclusion from Alaska summit proof of his illegitimacy – Moscow

Russia believes the Ukrainian leader lacks authority to sign any peace deal, adding that any agreement must be ironclad legally

(This is interesting because Trump brought up the Ukraine elections as quipping today the Aug. 18th and Zelensky not allowing elections, during war. I’m sure Trump and team knows that’s a big problem. And he was letting Zelensky know that it’s a problem. It won’t be a valid peace treaty if Zelensky signs it, they all know it, and Kiev and EU are counting on that. With all the time and money Trump and the government that has put into this peace treaty, there is no way they would allow this.)

Vladimir Zelensky’s exclusion from the upcoming summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, is confirmation of the Ukrainian leader’s illegitimacy, Russian Foreign Ministry official Rodion Miroshnik has said.

Putin and Trump are set to meet on Friday in Anchorage, Alaska to discuss ways of ending the Ukraine conflict, as well as steps toward normalizing relations between Moscow and Washington. Zelensky has not been invited to participate.

”As a leader of Ukraine – as he calls himself – Zelensky is unacceptable. He cannot sign anything,”said Miroshnik, who serves as the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large for the Kiev regime’s war crimes.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow places importance on who signs any potential peace agreements concerning Ukraine, adding that these must be flawless from a legal standpoint.

Zelensky’s five-year presidential term officially ended in May 2024. However, in December 2023 he announced that no presidential or parliamentary polls would be held as long as martial law remains in force. Earlier,Putin said Zelensky can participate in possible talks with Moscow if he wishes to, but that he lacks the legitimacy to actually sign a peace deal. Russia views Zelensky as unfit to sign international agreements, arguing that any treaty he signs could later be deemed illegitimate.

According to the Kremlin, the summit in Alaska will begin with a one-on-one conversation between Putin and Trump, followed by a meeting of the Russian and US delegations.

Putin has praised the American leadership for making “quite energetic and sincere efforts to stop the hostilities”and working to “create long-term conditions of peace between our countries and in Europe, and in the world as a whole.”

Trump has described the summit as a “feel-out meeting” that will help him determine whether the Ukraine conflict can be resolved. He has said that if the talks go well, he may seek a second round of negotiations involving Putin and Zelensky.

(What does Trump and Team do with this situation, perhaps Zelensky gets delayed and the only one in Ukraine Rada that can sign it is available?Anons, what do you think happens with this matter that will destroy the peace treaty if signed by Zelenskyy?)

Putin aide confirms details of Trump call

The US President reportedly paused talks with Vladimir Zelensky and his Western European backers to talk directly to his Russian counterpart

Russian Presidential aide YuryUshakov has confirmed details of a conversation President Vladimir Putin has held with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, who placed the call to Moscow after pausing a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky and his Western European backers.

Trump hosted Zelensky, along with the leaders of France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Finland, and the heads of NATO and the European Commission for talks in Washington on the Ukraine conflict, where he used his public comments to shrug off German and French requests that a ceasefire be agreed in the short term.

The US president was expected to insist on discussions of territorial exchanges, despite protestations from Zelensky, and wider security guarantees that meet Moscow and Kiev’s needs.

Starmer instructed Zelensky how to behave around Trump – media

The UK prime minister reportedly also helped the Ukrainian leader choose his wardrobe (Starmer is scared to death of Trump himself)

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer advised Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky on how to avoid another confrontation at the White House, NBC News reported on Monday.

Zelensky is in Washington for negotiations with US President Donald Trump and Kiev’s key European backers. His previous visit in February was cut short after a heated exchange with Trump and US Vice President J.D. Vance in the Oval Office.

According to NBC, Starmer was a key figure among European officialswho “coached” Zelensky on how to interact with Trump. The Ukrainian leader was reportedly advised to thank Trump for military aid and diplomatic support and towear a suit jacketinstead of his usual military-style attire. (He intentionally didn’t listen because he looked like a mobster and even when told to wear a tie by the WH, he didn’t do it.)

According to the Telegraph, UK ministers and officialshave been advising Zelensky on how to “speak Trump” and flatter the American president.(this is such BS, Trump doesn’t have to get their flattering, they are all apes.)

The February meeting descended into a shouting match, with Trump accusing Zelensky of “gambling with World War III,” while Vance argued that the Ukrainian leader had been ungrateful for American support.

Trump and Zelensky have clashed repeatedly in the past, including over Trump’s refusal to blame Russia for the Ukraine conflict and an incident in which he labeled Zelensky “a dictator” for postponing elections under martial law.

Trump puts European leaders on hold to talk with Putin – media

The US president hosted Vladimir Zelensky and his Western European backers on possible territory exchanges and security architecture

(I think that the phone call was a notice and warning to them by Trump, that "Putin and Russia are more important then them", and that he won’t hide anything from Russia in negotiating or other matters, he’s trying to get them to include Russia back into the world and all countries.)

US President Donald Trump reportedly put a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky and his Western European backers on hold in order to place a call to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, multiple media have reported citing sources.

Trump has been hosting a meeting with Zelensky and the leaders of France, the UK, Italy, Poland, Finland, NATO and the European Commission, following a historic summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska last Friday, which are expected to focus on territorial exchanges and security guarantees for Moscow and Kiev.

The editor in chief at Bild has reported thatTrump suspended talksin the White House on Monday in order tocontact his Russian counterpart. BBC Monitoring also reported that the talks had finished before advising that their source in the Ukrainian delegation had said that talks had restarted.

Regarding potential communication with his Russian counterpart, Trump told the media briefing before going into today’s meetings “He’s expecting my call when we’re finished.”

The reports of a cessation in the talks anda call to Moscow emerged at around midnight in the Russiancapital or17:00 in Washington.(Q shows up again. I really wonder if Trump and Putin were the Q communications, once Putin knew that the DS was trying to destroy Trump, did he communicate in Helsinki what the DS would do to him?)

The 2018 Russia–United States Summit (also known as the Helsinki 2018 or the Trump–Putin Summit) was a summit meeting between United States president Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin on16 July 2018, in Helsinki, Finland. The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs officially titled the summit as the #HELSINKI2018 Meeting and it was hosted by the president of Finland Sauli Niinistö.

During a post-summit joint press conference with Putin, Trump did not accept Russian interference was part of the 2016 U.S. elections. Trump's omissions provoked an uproar across the political spectrum, including from some of his usual allies. One day later, Trump amended part of his remarks, contending that he had misspoken due to an incorrectly perceived "double-negative".[2]
