Mother and son arrested at Miami airport after fatal New Jersey street racing crash and escape attempt
A Staten Island man and his mother are facing a slew of charges, including aggravated manslaughter and hindering apprehension, after authorities say he caused a deadly crash in Plainsboro, New Jersey during a dangerous BMW street race.
Alvi Limani, 20, is charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, multiple counts of reckless assault by auto, endangering others, obstruction, tampering with records, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, and causing death or serious injury while driving 112mph with a revoked license.
His mother, Vilma Vneshta, 42, is charged with hindering in the third degree. Both are being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center without bail.
The pair were arrested on July 17 near Miami, Florida, and detectives noted they purchased both a Florida ID, same-day passport, and plane tickets to Tirana, Albania.
Video footage showed Limani and Vneshta being cuffed on the tarmac.
According to jail records, both Limani and Vneshta are listed as non-citizens.

"Operation Lights Out," planned by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Floyd County Police, took place Friday and Saturday in western Hall County.
Hall County deputies arrested seven suspects in "Operation Lights Out," a weekend undercover sting targeting online sexual exploitation and prostitution.
Charges include electronic exploitation of minors, pandering, prostitution, and drug possession, with three suspects remaining jailed without bond.
According to authorities, the two-day sting led to the following arrests:
-Jorge Francisco Arevalo, 59, of Flowery Branch – charged with electronic exploitation of a minor and grooming a child for indecent purposes after allegedly attempting to lure someone he believed was a minor into sexual activity.
-Juan Domingo Lesther Aguirre, 29, of Cleveland – charged with electronic exploitation and sexual exploitation of a minor for allegedly soliciting nude images from someone he thought was under 18.
-James Cole Johnson, 29, of Flowery Branch – charged with misdemeanor pandering.
-Andrew Stakoun, 56, of Atlanta – charged with misdemeanor pandering.
-Desameria Lysandra Lattimore, 27, of Winder – charged with misdemeanor prostitution for offering sex to an undercover investigator for $250.
-Candie Petty, 45, of Chatsworth – charged with prostitution and misdemeanor marijuana possession, as well as felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Deputies say she offered sex for $450 and also tried to sell marijuana to an investigator.
-Qwantavious Dashay Tolbert, 29, of Winder – charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (oxycodone) with intent to distribute. Investigators say Tolbert had pills on him and transported Lattimore to the operation site.

Alleged MS-13, Trinitarios members among 42 arrested in NY gang crackdown | Morning in America
NEW YORK (NewsNation) — More than 40 suspected gang members were arrested this week on New York’s Long Island as part of a crackdown on violent crime in the area. Authorities said some of those taken into custody were in the United States illegally.
The multiagency operation, which began Aug. 13, targeted multiple notorious gangs, including MS-13, Trinitarios and 18th Street. The 42 people arrested range in age from 18 to 50 and have been accused of terrorizing Nassau County for years.
“They’ve engaged in illegal activity, including attempted murder, rape, all kinds of felonies, including human trafficking of women and young girls,” said County Executive Bruce Blakeman. “We want to send a clear message that gang activity in Nassau County will not be tolerated.”
Police said the raids followed a recent spike in gang-related violence, including a stabbing, a shooting and a home invasion earlier this month.
Authorities said they believe a recent indictment sparked retaliation among rival gangs, raising fears of escalating violence.

Woman arrested after 'threatening to assassinate Trump' and traveling to DC as shocking posts are revealed
The woman allegedly took to social media to make a series of posts against Trump's life

Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, was arrested in Columbia on Saturday (August 16) and charged by authorities in connection with a series of posts on Instagram and Facebook that threatened the President's life.
The social media posts also blamed Trump regarding the 'extreme and unnecessary loss of life in relation to the coronavirus'.
Between August 6 and 9, an Instagram user called 'nath.jones' had posted a series of threatening comments against Trump, while on Facebook between August 6 and August 15, more threatening posts were published.
Over on Facebook, Jones allegedly threatened to 'disembowel' the President in a post directed at the FBI, writing: "I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present."
And in another post, this time directed to US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, she allegedly wrote: "Please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16, 2025."
In a voluntary interview with the Secret Service on August 15, the suspect allegedly described Trump as a 'terrorist' and 'Nazi', and that if she had the opportunity, she'd kill him 'at the compound' if she had to.
She also allegedly claimed to have a 'bladed object' to 'carry out her mission of killing' Trump to 'avenge all the lives lost during the Covid-19 pandemic'.
The Department of Justice said in a press release that the Secret Service is currently investigating the case. They also claimed that Jones had confirmed she was the owner of the Facebook account which posted the messages.

Pediatric nurse arrested in child sex abuse material investigation

Lance Aaron Putnam, a nurse at a pediatric hospital, was arrested Tuesday.
He was booked for investigation of possessing child sex abuse material.
SALT LAKE CITY — A man who police say works as a nurse at a pediatric hospital has been arrested and accused of possessing child sex abuse material.
Lance Aaron Putnam, 28, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail Tuesday for investigation of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and obstruction of justice.
The investigation began in January when a social media company filed a cyber tipline report with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an account that uploaded and distributed suspected child sexual abuse material. The report was forwarded to the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
"Pursuant to several search warrants and court orders, the owner of the … account was reported as Lance Putnam, residing in the Salt Lake County area," according to a police booking affidavit.
On Tuesday, a search warrant was served at Putnam's residence, where, after being detained, he admitted to sending and receiving child sex abuse material using several social media platforms, the affidavit alleges.
"Lance admitted he has an addiction and had last viewed child sex abuse material a few days ago," the affidavit states. "After officers knocked on Lance's door, Lance destroyed his phone and hid it in an attempt to hide any evidence."
Putnam has been viewing such items for a couple of years, according to the affidavit, and "admitted to distributing child sex abuse material thousands of times."
Police also noted that Putnam "is currently employed as a nurse at a pediatric hospital and has access to children who are the same age as the children in the child sex abuse material he distributed."
The Utah Attorney General's Office has requested that Putnam be held in the Salt Lake County Jail without the possibility of posting bail pending the filing of formal charges.
