Your works won't save you, it's your faith in the Lord Jesus that saves you. It's a gift freely given. There's no way to work for it and no price that you can pay for it.

"For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead."

However, that doesn't mean that we don't work. It just means we can do nothing without the Lord. Sometimes being Christian means holding two seemingly contradictory ideas in your head and realizing both are true.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

"If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men."

• Romans 12:18 (NASB95)
