The discovery was made while the “Man,” a large human-shaped wooden sculpture at the center of the festival in Black Rock City, was engulfed in flames. A participant flagged down a sheriff’s deputy and reported seeing “a male subject lying in a pool of blood,” the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies, along with Bureau Land Management rangers and Burning Man Black Rock rangers, created a perimeter around the area and interviewed participants.

Niagara police arrested a man after he allegedly broke into a family home and sexually assaulted a child under 5 years old.

Daniel Senecal, 25, of Welland, Ont., has been charged with aggravated sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, assault, assault/choking, breaking and entering, and sexual interference with a person under 16.

The Niagara Regional Police Service said its officers along with paramedics responded to an emergency call in Welland just before 9 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31.

After arriving at the home, police officers noted signs the front door of the residence had been forced open. They also observed that the child suffered from “serious injuries prompting an immediate criminal investigation.”

The child was transported to a hospital outside the region to receive advanced medical care and has been reported to be in stable condition.

Police said it became apparent after speaking with the child’s parents that someone had defeated the lock on the front door and entered the residence between 10 p.m. on Aug. 30 and the morning of Aug. 31. Euthanasia prevention advocates say a B.C. government document that discourages strictly applying oversight measures for medical assistance in dying (MAID) providers who commit infractions raises questions about the system’s ability to protect ineligible patients.

Alicia Duncan, a euthanasia prevention advocate whose mother died through MAID in B.C. in 2021, says oversight must protect from “unlawful death” rather than “shield providers from scrutiny.”

A decision briefing note approved by the B.C. deputy minister of health on Nov. 8, 2023, obtained through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request from and first reported on by The B.C. Catholic newspaper, calls for the adoption of an oversight policy while cautioning against the “overly strict” use of referrals to police or professional colleges when MAID providers violate the Criminal Code, professional standards, or federal or provincial safeguards.

The document notes that up to that date, the B.C. MAID Oversight Unit lacked a formal oversight policy, with decisions about the need to refer MAID case files to police or professional colleges made on a case-by-case basis. It says MAID providers were concerned the referral process was “not transparent” and didn’t ensure administrative fairness.

“Transparent, objective, and consistent oversight is required to ensure that public confidence is maintained,” reads the 2023 decision briefing note, which was reviewed by The Epoch Times.

“At the same time, oversight should provide opportunities for education or warning depending on the severity of an infraction, as overly strict or severe use of referrals to law enforcement or professional colleges may discourage physicians or nurse practitioners from providing MAiD despite high demand.” Continue…

Ontario is removing interprovincial barriers for workers in regulated professions, allowing them greater mobility when searching for work across the country, the province said Monday.

The Labour Day announcement said the provincial government has signed 10 agreements with provinces and territories to remove barriers to let workers come to Ontario to find work in over 50 “in-demand” professions, including engineers, architects and electricians.

“Our government is leading Canada in our efforts to protect workers by helping them find better jobs and building a more resilient, competitive and united Canadian economy,” said David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. Continue…

York Regional Police believe well respected Abdul Aleem Farooqi was murdered while protecting his family from three armed intruders

A father of three was shot to death in his own “castle” in Vaughan while trying to “protect his family” from armed intruders.

Early Sunday morning, police believe, Abdul Aleem Farooqi, 46, was merely asleep in his Vaughan home with his wife and three children when armed robbers broke into his house and demanded valuables.

What happened next is under investigation by York Regional Police. What did occur is horrifying for an innocent family who were minding their own business on the last long weekend of summer 2025.

“He was shot while trying to protect his four-year-old daughter who had a gun pointed at her,” said one of his employees at his business.

What happened here is pure evil.
