Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) will hold a news conference this morning with ten Jeffrey Epstein victims on Wednesday as they continue pressing for the declassification of all of the Epstein files and client lists.

Massie and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) previously joined forces with Ro Khanna on a discharge petition aimed at compelling a full House vote on releasing classified Jeffrey Epstein files. Khanna said that 12 Democrats and 12 Republicans have signed onto the petition.

Massie filed the petition on Tuesday, and he says 134 have already signed onto the petition, surpassing half of the 218 signatures needed.

Khanna recently said 212 Democrats and 12 Republicans have shown support.

Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committee has released an additional 33,000 pages of Epstein documents provided by the Department of Justice under a subpoena.

But Massie and Khanna want all of the remaining files to be released.

Ro Khanna recently said the press conference will feature victims who "haven't spoken for decades," and "when the American people actually hear the victims for the first time, they are going to sympathize, their hearts are going to be broken."

"People are going to be outraged," he said.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am ET.

There has been no cause of death disclosed for four other candidates in the region that has a population of 18 million - as police told Germany's DPA news agency that the initial four were either from natural causes, or were not being divulged for over privacy concerns.

Two reserve candidates died following the initial four, followed by the death of Kind. The reserve candidates were René Herford, who had a pre-existing liver condition and died of kidney failure, and Patrick Tietze, who committed suicide.

Now, ballots must be reprinted and successors appointed, causing what WELT described as "immense chaos."

Android, Google’s mobile operating system, announced on August 25 that it will be requiring all app developers to verify their identity with the organization before their apps can run on “certified android devices.”

While this might sound like a common-sense policy by Google, this new standard is not just going to be applied to apps downloaded from Google Play store, but all apps, even those “side-loaded” — installed directly into devices by side-stepping the Google Play store. Apps of the sort can be found online in Github repositories or on project websites and installed on Android devices directly by downloading the installation files (known as APKs).

What this means is that, if there is an application that Google does not like, be it because it does not conform to its policies, politics or economic incentives, they can simply keep you from running that application on your own device. They are locking down Android devices from running applications not with their purview. The ask? All developers, whether submitting their apps through the Play store or not, need to give their personal information to Google.

The decision begs the question, if you can not run whatever app you want on your device without the permission of Google, then is it really your device? How would you respond if Windows decided you could only install programs from the Microsoft app store? Continue…

Only two allegations of murders were received, which the RCMP investigators found to be baseless, as well as one allegation surrounding clandestine burials, also unsubstantiated.

The RCMP's eight-year investigation into B.C. residential schools confirms no evidence of murders or clandestine burials, according to the Real Indigenous Report. However, 14 men were arrested and faced charges for other abuses investigated by a 1995 task force.

Calvin Swustus, a 17-year veteran of the Vancouver Island RCMP and a task force member, was satisfied that the investigations led to arrests, charges, and convictions, despite being flawed. “I feel good that some people were arrested, charged and convicted.”

Only two allegations of murders were received, which the RCMP investigators found to be baseless, as well as one allegation surrounding clandestine burials, also unsubstantiated.

Keavin Amyot, a convicted child sexual predator, confessed to sexually assaulting a St. Mary’s Indian Residential School survivor in 1997, calling himself a “monster” and a pedophile, according to the Investigative Journalism Foundation.

Further charges were recommended in 2002 after a second victim emerged, but Amyot died before approval.

Efforts led to charges against 14 men; however, only eight of these were directly linked to the team's work after its formation. During its tenure, the team gathered over 4,000 tips, leading to 974 criminal allegations against 129 individuals. Continue…

Quebec is upholding its rejection of federal funding aimed at having courts weigh racial factors in sentencing as pressure mounts by activists in light of a recent case. The province says the reason for its rejection of the funding program is that it doesn’t share Ottawa’s position that there’s systemic racism in the justice system.

“We are not party to any funding agreement involving Impact of Race and Culture Assessments, as Quebec doesn’t subscribe to the approach on which the funding program is based, namely systemic racism,” Quebec’s Justice Department Marie-Hélène Mercier told The Canadian Press.

Ottawa authorized $6.64 million in funding to provinces and territories for a five-year period starting in 2021, followed by $1.6 million annually, to encourage the use of Impact of Race and Culture Assessments (IRCAs) in sentencing, particularly to lessen the overrepresentation of black Canadians in Canada’s criminal justice system. Ottawa bumped the funding to $16 million over five years in 2024. Quebec has not accepted any of the funding.

IRCAs are pre-sentence reports that let judges assess the impact of “systemic racism” in the background and circumstances of an accused individual and have been used in Canadian courts for more than a decade.

In addition to Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories do not have agreements to accept the IRCA funds, nor does Alberta, which suspended its acceptance of IRCA funding in December of last year. Continue…

The Alberta government has temporarily paused the implementation of its standards on sexually explicit content in school libraries, saying the directive needs revision after Edmonton Public Schools released a book removal list that the province says didn’t reflect the policy’s intended purpose.

Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides made the announcement on Sept. 2, a few days after Edmonton Public Schools released an internal list of 200 books it intended to ban.

The list was leaked and shared online on Aug. 28 and included titles such as Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World,” and books by authors like Alice Munro and Ayn Rand.

“I’m going to be more explicit than usual so there is no misunderstanding this policy: 1. Get graphic pornographic images out of school libraries. 2. Leave the classics on the shelves,” Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said on social media after Nicolaides’s public announcement. “We all know the difference between the items in 1 and 2. Let’s not play any more games in implementing this policy for our kids.”

The province released in July a set of guidelines for the selection, availability, and access of books in school libraries, after confirming that several “inappropriate” titles containing graphic content related to sexual activity, nudity, and molestation were available in some kindergarten to Grade 12 libraries.

“After becoming aware of a list of over 200 books that Edmonton Public Schools intended to remove off their shelves, I will be revising the order immediately to ensure that our classic literary works remain in school libraries, while books with graphic pornographic images, such as those depicted below, do not end up in the hands of children,” Nicolaides said in a Sept. 2 social media post. Quebec Ends Support for Northvolt’s EV Battery Factory, Loses $270M

Quebec’s government is stopping funds for a proposed Northvolt electric vehicle (EV) battery mega factory in the Montérégie region near Montreal.

According to Quebec’s Economy Minister Christine Fréchette, the decision was made after Northvolt Batteries North America didn’t provide an acceptable plan for the Northvolt Six plant, which was scheduled to begin producing batteries next year and ramping up to making enough for one million EVs per year.

Quebec has spent $510 million in total on the project so far, but lost the $270 million it had invested in Northvolt’s Swedish parent company, Northvolt AB, when the company went bankrupt in March. The province also hopes to get back $240 million in a loan given to Northvolt’s local subsidiary to purchase property for the factory.

In addition to these losses, Quebec’s pension fund manager La Caisse said in March it had lost $200 million after investing in Northvolt AB.

Ottawa and Quebec had unsuccessfully sought a buyer for the new battery plant. U.S.-based chemical and battery company Lyten said it planned to buy the proposed $7 billion lithium-ion battery project in Montérégie earlier this month, after having already acquired Northvolt’s assets in Europe and North America, but a potential deal fell through.

Lyten met with Quebec officials in July and August, but a government spokesperson said the company was seeking additional public funding. Quebec refused the proposal, with the spokesperson saying Lyten made unspecified “disproportionate demands.” Continue…

Mandatory Masking Reinstated for Some New Brunswick Hospitals

New Brunswick’s Horizon Health Network has introduced mandatory masking in patient-facing clinical areas, including emergency rooms due to an increase in respiratory illnesses.

The regional health authority said all health-care workers, patients, social visitors, and designated support persons (DSPs) will be required to wear “medical grade” face masks in all patient-facing and clinical areas of its facilities.

Horizon oversees 12 hospitals, and more than 100 medical facilities, clinics, and offices throughout the province.

“We are seeing a rise in respiratory virus activity across our communities,” Horizon said in a Sept. 2 news release. “With this upward trend, and knowing this time of year historically leads to further increase of viral transmission, Horizon is taking a proactive and precautionary measure and reinstating masking in patient-facing/clinical areas.”

The policy requires that medical-grade face masks be worn at all times in all inpatient units, outpatient and ambulatory care clinics, emergency departments, and other clinical settings including waiting areas. Masking will not be required in non-clinical areas like lobbies, hallways, or cafeterias.

The CRA controversially stripped JNF Canada of its charitable status last summer

The embattled Jewish National Fund of Canada (JNF Canada) announced Tuesday that supporters will be taking up its cause while it continues to fight to have its own charitable status restored.

JNF Canada President Nathan Disenhouse told National Post that the newly founded Friends of JNF Canada will lead the charge for now.

“Our supporters are tired of seeing our work limited without a charitable status, so they’ve stepped in to take up our mission” said Disenhouse.

He said the new charity will “fundraise for Israel in a similar way that JNF Canada did, but with the ability to issue tax receipts.”

“Working with other Canadian charities, they will fundraise for similar projects for Israelis in need, focusing on the vulnerable, enhancing environmental sustainability, and supporting the mental and physical health of Israelis,” said Disenhouse.

Irving Weisdorf, who helped spearhead Friends of JNF Canada, said now is a critical time for supporters of Israel to have their voices heard. Continue…
