President Donald Trump is weighing a plan to expand the White House’s sway inside the Federal Reserve by targeting how its 12 regional bank presidents are picked and reappointed, according to a report.

The move, first reported by Bloomberg News, could allow the administration to influence who sits on the Fed’s powerful policy-setting committee, a step critics warn would threaten the central bank’s independence.

Trump’s team is reviewing several options, including scrutinizing how regional presidents are vetted since they are not Senate-confirmed, Bloomberg News reported.

The White House is also considering a move aimed at using a rare five-year review scheduled for February to reshape the roster that officials see as too hawkish, according to the report.

Another option being considered is steering candidates passed over for Fed chair into regional presidencies, people familiar with the effort told Bloomberg News.

Unlike the governors, regional presidents aren’t nominated by the White House or confirmed by the Senate. They’re selected through a mix of local directors and the Fed’s board.

Trump aides are now targeting that process as their next pressure point, Bloomberg reported.

“This White House is turning over every stone to see where the levers are to change the Fed,” Derek Tang, an economist at LHMeyer/Monetary Policy Analytics, told the outlet.

The Fed’s Board of Governors is due to sign off on the current roster of regional presidents in February.

Trump allies believe that once he secures a majority on the board, they could use that vote to push out officials seen as too hawkish.

Former Fed Vice Chair Lael Brainard blasted the effort as an “unprecedented attack on the independence of the Federal Reserve” that could fuel inflation and drive up long-term interest rates.

Trump has battled with the Fed since returning to the White House, pounding Chairman Jerome Powell to slash rates even as the central bank has held steady to counter inflationary pressure from the president’s tariffs.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s role as Kamala Harris’ running mate has the potential to create another barrier-breaking moment: If the Democratic presidential ticket wins the election and is inaugurated in January — or if Walz steps down to campaign — Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan will take his place, becoming the country’s first Native American woman to serve as a state governor.

Flanagan, who is a citizen of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe, is already the highest-ranking Indigenous woman serving in a statewide elected office and the first to lead the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association.

“I couldn’t have ever imagined being able to see elected leaders who look like me.”

During her tenure, Flanagan, who was previously executive director of the Children’s Defense Fund Minnesota, worked to pass legislation on child tax credits and free breakfast and lunch programs for public school students, and to establish the country’s first Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Office to support families in their search for missing loved ones.

Flanagan co-chairs the Young Women’s Initiative of Minnesota, which created a Young Woman’s Cabinet to train members in leadership and as policy advocates.

Flanagan previously told The 19th that as the mother of a young Ojibwe girl, the importance of representation in our democracy is personal: “I couldn’t have ever imagined being able to see elected leaders who look like me. And for my daughter, this is simply her reality,” she said. When young people see themselves reflected in these roles, she said, “That is how we build a strong organization. That is how we build a strong party.”

SCOTLAND — As part of a sweeping effort to put a stop to Muslim migrant rape gangs terrorizing the country, UK authorities have begun rounding up and arresting all potential rape victims.

Experts say this will effectively put an end to migrant rape crimes in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

"We have heard the voice of the people, and we have resolved to solve this problem once and for all," said Prime Minister Keir Starmer. "We will begin by arresting all women under 52 years old, and then we will hide them in highly secure prison cells in an undisclosed location where our beautiful, beloved asylum seekers cannot find them."

"This is for their own safety. We care deeply about our women and girls."

Sources say "Operation Chastity" has already begun, with Scottish polis rounding up all the members of an all-girls' boarding school in Edinburgh. "Whit d'ye mean yer arrestin' me, ya daft bawbag? Ah didnae dae onyhin'!" cried one 12-year-old, brandishing a claymore at arresting authorities. "Let me oot, ye filthy scunner! Freedommm!"

Sources expect the UK to be completely cleansed of the presence of rapable women by the beginning of next year.
