Unauthorized Drone Use Prohibited Over Fort Riley

Aug 27, 2025 7:14 AM

The Fort Riley Garrison Command reminds the public that flying small, unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), commonly known as drones, over Fort Riley or any affiliated military lands in Kansas is strictly prohibited without prior authorization.

Federal law and Department of Defense policy designate military installations as “No Drone Zones.” Unauthorized drone operations pose serious risks to personnel, infrastructure, and national security.

Violators may face criminal prosecution, civil penalties, and confiscation of equipment.

“Fort Riley is committed to maintaining the safety and security of our soldiers, families, and mission-critical operations,” said Col. Gerald A. Nunziato, Fort Riley Garrison Commander.

“We ask the public to respect these boundaries and avoid flying drones near or over the installation.”

This restriction applies to all civilian drone operators, hobbyists, and commercial entities.

The prohibited area includes Fort Riley proper, training ranges, and any federally controlled lands under Fort Riley’s jurisdiction.

Authorized Use

Drone operations may be permitted only under strict conditions for official government use, research, or media coverage.

Requests must be submitted in advance to the Fort Riley Public Affairs Office and approved by the Garrison Commander and Directorate of Emergency Services.

Utah Officials Say Dozens Of Drones Illegally Flying Over Buckley Draw Fire, Endangering Firefighters

August 27, 2025

Officials in Utah say firefighters battling the Buckley Draw Fire near Provo are also battling a record number of drone incursions over the restricted airspace, hampering firefighting efforts.

In a video update Monday, Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi shared positive news about progress against the fire, which was at 42% containment after burning more than 450 acres, but said drone operators have been hampering firefighting efforts.

“The big concern has been drones, they’ve been a little bit of an issue,” Kaufusi said.

She was joined by Sierra Hellstrom, Public Information Officer with the Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team, who said the drone issue has been “pretty frustrating.”

“We’ve had 22 drone intrusions on this fire,” Hellstrom said. “Twelve of those reportable, meaning we’ve had to ground aircraft, which leaves our firefighters exposed on the ground, as well as puts out pilots at risk for midair collisions.”

Hellstrom said the Forest Service is working with local law enforcement to crack down on people illegally operating drones in the Temporary Flight Restriction Zone around the fire.

The Provo Police Department said officers have so far identified five drone operators violating flight restrictions and have referred their cases to prosecutors to review charges.

“Each drone sighting can force air operations to stop for up to 45 minutes while the airspace is cleared,” police said.

“During that no-fly period, fire suppression is delayed, and firefighters on the ground are left without critical emergency rescue support.”

“No picture is worth it,” Kaufusi said.

Drone Flies Dangerously Close to San Diego Airport Moments Before Plane Lands

August 27, 2025

A drone was spotted flying dangerously close to the flight path of an incoming plane at San Diego International Airport on Tuesday.

The sighting was made during a stream from the plane spotting YouTube channel Airline Videos. Stream host Kevin had the camera focused in the opposite direction when he suddenly turned the camera around.

“Oh my gosh, there’s a drone!” he said. “No, get that drone out of here! What is going on here? That drone should not be in the way of these aircraft. Oh my gosh. Just on the other side of that building. Get that drone out of here! What are you doing?”

Moments later, the drone was seen hovering in place before suddenly going up even higher. Kevin noted that it was nearly in the flight path for planes coming in to land. Then, it lowered back down and began whizzing around the area.

“Now it’s coming our direction!” Kevin said. “Whoever has that drone, you might be going to jail! I mean, literally, it’s right in front of us. Look at this thing! That’s how close it is to my camera — right below the flight path of SAN.

Seconds later, and just a few hundred feet above the drone, a Southwest Airlines plane passed by as it prepared to land.

As noted in the tweet from Airline Videos, authorities were notified about the drone and air traffic controller informed inbound pilots of its presence.

U.S. Army fields new pocket-sized recon drone

Aug 27, 2025

The U.S. Army has officially fielded the newest version of its Soldier Borne Sensor reconnaissance drone, earning high praise from Soldiers who trained with it for the first time this month.

The system, developed under Program Executive Office Soldier, is designed to give troops real-time intelligence while keeping them out of direct danger.

Officials said the drone provides an extra layer of protection by allowing units to detect threats, conduct surveillance, and target adversaries without exposing personnel to hostile fire.

For three days, Soldiers from the 90th Sustainment Brigade, supported by the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division and the 89th Military Police Brigade, trained on the latest drone.

Instruction included two days of classroom study and a final day of hands-on flying, less than five miles from the southern border.

The new version, Army trainers said, represents improvements in nearly every category. It offers a longer battery life, more durable construction, and greater range compared to earlier models.

Just as importantly, it combines day and night capabilities into a single platform, reducing the weight Soldiers must carry in the field.

Troops who tested the drone highlighted its ease of use.

“It’s super easy to fly,” said Sgt. Quinton Layton. “I didn’t expect it to be as simple as it was. It’s definitely something you can pick up in 15 to 20 minutes.”

Sgt. Steven Brown echoed the sentiment: “On a basis level of being able to get the drone in the air and doing whatever you need to do, it’s very simple and user friendly.

It’s a great system that I would love to see implemented more… I would love to see these at a squad level, or one per fire team.”

Soldiers also pointed to specific features that impressed them. Layton cited the “zipline” function, which allows an operator to assign a start and end point and let the drone fly the route autonomously, regardless of how the camera is positioned.

Sgt. Mikiah Baker, who had never flown drones before the training, praised its ease of use and camera options. “The most impressive feature I saw was the different camera features,” Baker said.

“I could see as clear as day as I can now, but it can also go to different versions of thermal which I found very impressive for how compact the device is.”

The drone’s camera suite includes high-resolution daytime imaging, low-light modes, and multiple thermal settings — black hot, white hot, and standard thermal views.

Unlike previous versions, which required two separate drones for day and night missions, this system integrates all modes into one platform.

Staff Sgt. Harris-Sims emphasized the “fly-to-home” feature, which designates the operator as a moving beacon for the drone.

“You’re the beacon for the drone. Instead of manually trying to control the drone to follow you, you set yourself as home,” he said.

Soldiers reported that the system reliably followed them around the training site without additional inputs.

The Soldier Borne Sensor is part of a broader Army effort to expand small-unit intelligence collection. Modeled on Teledyne FLIR’s Black Hornet, the system is designed to be pocket-sized, nearly silent, and difficult to detect.

At 10 meters, the drone produces almost no audible signature, and at 50 meters it is nearly invisible in the sky.

Advanced protections against jamming, including frequency hopping and encrypted links, are intended to keep the system reliable in contested environments.

Troops described the technology as a game-changer for operations at home and overseas. “This is probably going to be the greatest asset to both missions at home and abroad,” Harris-Sims said.

“Instead of sending the actual Soldier in harm’s way, why not use the asset that doesn’t cost the life of an actual Soldier? I think it’s going to be a really good investment.

It’s probably going to be the best investment for units, recon, signal, infantry, land survey… I think this piece of equipment checks all the boxes.”

Program officials stressed that feedback from the first units will drive further refinements.

For now, Soldiers who trained at Fort Bliss said the system already feels like a tool designed for them. As Sgt. Layton summarized: “It’s extremely versatile and it’s definitely a great asset to have.”

The notorious and cruel 1953 Mableton UFO hoax

August 27, 2025

The National Archive recently provided a searchable window into lightly redacted versions of the Project Blue Book files, a record of the U.S. Air Force investigations into Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs).

The reports were assembled from March 1952 to the project’s termination on December 17, 1969, during widespread furor around UFOs.

One of the cases in the file was about a notorious and cruel hoax in Mableton (Austell in some accounts, but the incident took place within the current boundaries of the City of Mableton) carried out on July 7, 1953, when a 28-year-old Atlanta barber named Ed Watters and two friends claimed they struck an alien from a flying saucer while driving along what was then Bankhead Highway in the Leland area of Cobb County in Watters’ pickup truck.

The area is now part of Mableton on Veterans Memorial Highway.

The way the three young men described it, the flying saucer landed, and three small creatures left the craft.

Upon seeing the approaching pickup truck, two of the creatures jumped into the saucer and flew off in a blaze of blue light, while the other creature was struck and killed by the truck.

Initially, according to a news clipping in the file (not labeled with the newspaper’s name), Watters succeeded in getting news coverage, as it was picked up by wire services and distributed across the country.

But when Dr. Herman Jones of the GBI State Crime Lab and scientists at Emory University examined the remains, they determined it was a monkey.

Dr. Marion Hines, a professor of experimental anatomy at Emory, said at the time, “If the creature came from Mars, they have monkeys on Mars.”

At that point, Watters admitted to the hoax. He had purchased a monkey, killed it, shaved it and removed its tail.

He was initially charged with animal cruelty, but the Cobb police chief dropped those charges when it was found the killing had been done in Fulton County.

Ultimately, Watters was charged under a health law that prohibited putting a dead animal on a state highway. He was charged a $40 fine.

Here is the formal Air Force report on the incident, along with the image of the report from the Blue Book:

7 July 1953 Atlanta, Georgia

Description

On the night of 7 July 1953, three observers from Atlanta were driving on Highway 78 near Mableton, Georgia (the document misspelled it “Mapleton”), when they encountered a “flying saucer” in the middle of the road.

There were three small animals near this red colored “saucer”. As the observers bore down on this object, two of the animals entered the “saucer” and escaped. As the “saucer” rose and disappeared at a 45 degree angle, it turned a light blue in color.

Observers’ car struck the third animal and knocked him unconscious. After getting out of the car and finding this animal which was approximately 21 inches in length, had long ears, no hair, and no tail, observers stayed at the scene and several other automobiles stopped.

The animal died in about 30 minutes and was taken to one of the Atlanta newspapers. A reporter for the newspaper called the FBI, who in turn called the GBI to investigate the incident.

Discussion

This animal was first examined by a local veterinarian, who stated that he had never seen such an animal before. Later the animal was taken to Emory University where an Emory authority identified it as a member of the monkey family and not an “animal from space”.

A member of the State Crime Laboratory and another member of the Emory University staff identified the animal as a monkey which had been shaved and from which the tail had been removed.

Observers confirmed that the whole story was a hoax resulting from a $10.00 bet that he (observer) could not get his picture in the paper. Observer was fined $40.00 for obstructing the highway and was released at that time.

Conclusion:

Other: hoax.

Note: This is one of many similar reports received by Project Blue Book

As of 2008 when the NBC News story at this link ran, the remains of the monkey were still at the GBI’s state crime lab.

Laura Eisenhower

August 24, 2025

“As I already explained to you before, MJ-12 had the only LEGAL authority to do that; sign Treaties and/or Agreements with ET alien species, according to the Terms of the Unconditional Surrender Instrument signed by Truman, and all of Congress, on July 19, 1952, surrendering the U.S. to the Nazis.

In other words, Dwight had NO such powers whatsoever, as POTUS, when he assumed that position (POTUS) on January 20, 1953.

His powers to negotiate or to sign such Treaties or Agreements with any ET alien species had already, LEGALLY, been passed onto MJ-12 before he assumed Office as POTUS.

How many times do I have to say this; Dwight did NOT sign any Treaty or any type of Agreement with any ET alien species or with the Nazi’s.

Anyone telling you otherwise is spoon feeding you ICC/Nazi/Draco Alliance disinformation; Nazi Propaganda Ministry engineered propaganda, carefully designed to hide the truth of their existence and their powers from the U.S. public.” – Dan Cooper, Senior Advisor to the Earth Alliance
