Lisa Cook hints ‘clerical error’ to blame for any mortgage application discrepancy

Published Thu, Aug 28 20251:35 PM EDT (Governors on the Board of the Fed cannot make clerical errors)

Key Points

• Fed Governor Lisa Cook’s lawsuit against Donald Trump challenges his ability to remove her from office but only briefly addresses the central accusations that she committed mortgage fraud.

• Cook did call mortgage fraud accusations “unsubstantiated and unproven” without going into detail.

• In a statement to CNBC, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte noted that Cook did not attempt to refute the claims against her.

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook’s lawsuit against Donald Trump challenges his ability to remove her from office, but only briefly addresses the central accusations that she committed mortgage fraud. One part of the documents filed in the suit suggests that the issue at hand regarding documents Cook submitted for home loansmay have been caused by a “clerical error” on her part and asserts that even if a mistake was made it does not rise to an offense that would justify removing her from office. (Bullshit, auditors for home loan, double the the forms before approving. ==What is doing and filed for 2 mortgages at the same time so it looked liked only one. She confused the two different loan companies)

The complaint mostly focuses on rules outlined in the Federal Reserve Act that state Fed officials can only be removed for “cause,” a legally nebulous condition that may have to be determined by the Supreme Court. Cook maintains that the fraud allegations do not meet the standard and instead are subterfuge for Trump’s efforts to stack the Fed Board of Governors in his favor so that he can get the interest rate cuts he has been demanding.

“It is clear from the circumstances surrounding Governor Cook’s purported removal from the Federal Reserve Board that the mortgage allegations against her are pretextual,” the suit states. “This allegation about conduct that predates Governor Cook’s Senate confirmation has never been investigated, much less proven. This allegation is not grounds for removal under the” act. The document calls the fraud allegation “unsubstantiated and unproven” but does not go into detail about why that is the case. Whether Cook did in fact lie on the applications will be the focus of establishing the legal standard for cause to remove her.

Trump and other officials, most notably Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, have alleged that Cook provided false information about her primary residence when obtaining federally backed mortgages. The complaint said that even if Cook did make a mistake on the applications, it still wouldn’t rise to cause.

“Even if the President had been more careful in obscuring his real justification for targeting Governor Cook, the President’s concocted basis for removal — the unsubstantiated and unproven allegation that Governor Cook ‘potentially’ erred in filling out a mortgage form prior to her Senate confirmation — does not amount to ‘cause’ within the meaning of the FRA and is unsupported by caselaw,” stated the complaint from Cook’s attorney, Abbe Lowell.

Moreover, the suit says that “the President and Director Pulte have not even alleged explicitly that Ms. Cook benefited from any clerical error, or that such an error was intentional. Even if Governor Cook had committed the infractions that the President alleges— which she did not—the President would lack ‘cause’ to remove her” under the law.

In a statement to CNBC, Pulte noted that Cook did not attempt to refute the claims against her.

“In her filing, Ms. Cook does not deny that these are her mortgage documents, so one has to wonder why she, or [Fed Chair] Jerome Powell, would want this to be a part of the Federal Reserve, which is supposed to have preeminent integrity and which is critical to the safety and soundness of the U.S. Mortgage Market,” Pulte said in a statement to CNBC’s Scott Wapner.

However, avoiding the specifics in this type of case is far from unusual as doing so would give credence to the allegation, said Robert Hockett, a professor of law and public finance at Cornell Law School. “You don’t want to play his game, or legitimize his game by playing it,” Hockett said. ”’I’m not surprised at all that the lawsuit wouldn’t include paragraph after paragraph providing the details of her mortgage applications. Because, that would, in effect, be conceding that there’s something legitimate about what Trump is doing.”

“We have no privileged knowledge of the legal facts, but believe if it were established Cook committed even accidental mortgage misrepresentation, she would have to go,”Guha said in a note earlier this week.

Trump has fired a Democrat on a federal railroad board. He's the latest to refuse to leave his post.

By Pavan Acharya08/28/2025 02:12 PM EDT

The White House says it has fired Robert Primus, a Democratic appointee on a federal board that oversees freight railroad mergers, because he isn’t on board with President Donald Trump’s “America First” agenda — but Primus is vowing not to leave.

White House spokesperson Kush Desai confirmed Primus’ ouster from the normally sleepy Surface Transportation Board and told POLITICO in a statement that Trump plans to “to nominate new, more qualified members to the Surface Transportation Board in short order.”

Primus did not respond to a request for comment. But in a LinkedIn post Wednesday evening,he called his firing “deeply troubling and legally invalid.”“I plan to continue to discharge my duties as a member of the Board and, if I’m prevented from doing so, I will explore my legal options,” Primus wrote. He also defended his record on the board, where he’s served since Trump appointed him in 2020.

It’s the latest example of personnel unrest and tension throughout the Trump administration, which is managing blowback from the recent firings of Federal Reserve Board Gov. Lisa Cook and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Susan Monarez, who also refused to leave her post.

The Primus shakeup comes as the board prepares to consider whether to approve an $85 billion merger between Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern, which if successful would decrease the number of the largest U.S. freight railroads to just five. Without Primus, the five-member board, whose appointees require Senate confirmation, would be composed of one Democrat and two Republicans. By statute, the board can’t have more than three members from the same party.

Primus was originally nominated in 2020 during Trump’s first term. Notably, he opposed the $28 billion merger between

Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern in 2023. Prior to joining the STB, Primus had worked on Capitol Hill for decades, including a stint as chief of staff for former Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.) from 2002 to the end of 2018.

Unions that represent railroad workers came out swinging on Thursday against Primus’ termination. SMART-TD, which has publicly opposed Union Pacific’s merger with Norfolk Southern, said in a statement that Primus’ firing was “unprecedented and unjustified” and suggested outside interference from industry.

“To eliminate a Senate-confirmed position simply because corporate America disagrees with a regulator’s conclusions position is an assault on the independence of federal oversight itself,” the union said.

Jessica Kahanek, a spokesperson for the Association of American Railroads, of which both Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern are a member, said its members “respect the critical role the STB plays, and value our strong working relationship with its members and staff. That has been true for more than 30 years and will remain so regardless of the Board’s composition.”

By Taylor LorenzThe biggest lying spy and fake influencer, beware of this bitch. Aug 27, 2025 6:00 AM

A Dark Money Group Is Secretly Funding High-Profile Democratic Influencers

An initiative aimed at boosting Democrats online offers influencers up to $8,000 a month to push the party line. All they have to do is keep it secret—and agree to restrictions on their content.

In a private group chat in June, dozens of Democratic political influencers discussed whether to take advantage of an enticing opportunity. They were being offered $8,000 per month to take part in a secretive program aimed at bolstering Democratic messaging on the internet.

But the contract sent to them from Chorus, the nonprofit arm of a liberal influencer marketing platform, came with some strings. Among other issues, it mandated extensive secrecy about disclosing their payments and had restrictions on what sort of political content the creators could produce.

In their group chat, influencers debated the details.

“Should we send a joint email (with all of our email addresses) … or, are we just going to send things separately and hope they change everything for everyone?” Laurenzo, a nonbinary creator in Columbus, Ohio, with over 884,000 TikTok followers, asked the group. Some joked about collective bargaining. “Any Newsies fans here?” Eliza Orlins, a public defender and reality TV star known for her appearances on Survivor, posted in the group. “‘We’re a union just by sayin’ so!’”

The influencers in the chat collectively had at least 13 million followers across social platforms. They represented some of the most well-known voices online posting in support of Democrats, and they’re key to wherever the party moves next.

But ultimately, the group didn’t make much progress.

“Reading through this revised Chorus contract like: you win some, you lose some,” a reproductive justice influencer named Pari, who posts under the handle @womeninamerica, responded later in the thread. “I also think there’s at least 4 other things that should change 🤣but the vibe I got from their email was that there would be minimal, if any, changes.” )

“I don’t feel strongly about pushing tbh,” Aaron Parnas, a Gen Z news influencer who has been called the Gen Z Walter Cronkite and has been lauded in legacy media outlets, posted to the chat. “They aren’t going to modify it anymore. Seems like a take it or leave it.” (Parnas declined to comment.)

“I believe we are in Stage 5: Acceptance,” Pari responded. Creators began signing on to the deal: For years, Democrats have struggled to work with influencers. In 2024, President ==Joe Biden’s White House snubbed several prominent content creators after they lightly criticized the administration over its policies on climate change, Covid, Gaza, and the TikTok ban]]. Content creators who challenged Kamala Harris—including Hasan Piker, a well-known influencer on the left—were similarly unwelcome at campaign events.

After the Democrats lost in November, they faced a reckoning. It was clear that the party had failed to successfully navigate the new media landscape. While Republicans spent decades building a powerful and robust independent media infrastructure, maximizing controversy to drive attention and maintaining tight relationships with creators despite their small disagreements with Trump, the Democrats have largely relied on outdated strategies and traditional media to get their message out.

Now, Democrats hope that the secretive Chorus Creator Incubator Program, funded by a powerful liberal dark money group called The Sixteen Thirty Fund, might tip the scales. The program kicked off last month, and creators involved were told by Chorus that over 90 influencers were set to take part. Creators told WIRED that the contract stipulated they’d be kicked out and essentially cut off financially if they even so much as acknowledged that they were part of the program. Some creators also raised concerns about a slew of restrictive clauses in the contract.

Trump Is Building His Own Paramilitary Force

Aug. 27, 2025 By Ezra Klein

(Ridiculous 15 pageOP=ed from NYT that Obama is pushing. Ultimate and delusional fear mongering, hysteria and twisting every concept of intelligencefirst page only)

You know those optical illusions where you look at a picture and depending on where and how you focus your eyes — maybe you’re looking at a vase or two faces — the image keeps flickering back and forth? Looking at the Trump administration is like that for me — though the flickering is between: This is democracy — the American people are getting what they voted for, good and hard. And: This is authoritarianism — or at least the road to authoritarianism.

I can see the picture of a president doing what he was elected to do. Donald Trump ran unquestionably on mass deportations. He ran on reversing a historic surge of migration into this country. He won on that platform. He’s just doing what he promised. He’s tripling ICE’s budget. He’s funneling tens of billions of dollars to build detention centers. In L.A., protesters tried to obstruct him, so Trump called up the National Guard. And after years of railing about crime levels in our major cities, Trump is using the power he has over Washington to do something about it, to show Americans that he’s doing something about it.

I don’t like any of this. I certainly didn’t vote for it. But Trump promised, and Americans voted for, the biggest deportation operation in U.S. history. It was always going to be ugly and cruel. So I can see that picture.

And then it flickers. My eyes refocus. And I see the evisceration of due process. I see detention centers being built where it is extraordinarily hard for lawyers and families to reach the people inside. I see men in masks refusing to identify themselves and pulling people into vans. I see armed U.S. troops in camo, some on horseback, riding through MacArthur Park in Los Angeles like they’re an occupying army. I see Trump sending in armed forces to take over the American capital.

What is going to happen when, predictably, a protester throws a rock at an agent? Or a Marine hears a car backfiring and thinks it’s a gunshot? In an instant, this could all explode. You could have American troops firing on American civilians in an American city in a country-defining crisis. What happens then?

Because that’s the other picture I see— the one that keeps coming into clear focus. Not Trump cleaning up crisis or disorder butTrump creating crisis and disorder so he can build what he has wanted to build: an authoritarian state, a military or a paramilitary that answers only to him — that puts him in total control.

And I wonder: Are these pictures even different? Trump promised all of this. It is possible to destroy democracy somewhat democratically.

I want to start here by following the money a bit. The Atlantic reported that in Donald Trump’s 2026 budget you had the F.B.I. seeing a big budget cut. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives: a big cut. The Drug Enforcement Administration: again, big cut.At the same time, they’re passing a bill to triple the budget of ICE to all-in add $170 billion to immigration enforcement.

What’s behind this pattern of the big crime agencies seeing their budgets cut and immigration enforcement entering a kind of budgetary expansion we have never seen before?

I think it’s just a continuation of the hollowing out of institutions that we’ve seen over the last six months.

ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have long been the most rogue, renegade and certainly pro-Trump police agencies in the federal government. So I think Trump sees those two as the most loyal to him. Also, obviously, the mass deportations are going to ensure that those two agencies remain relevant throughout his administration.

The F.B.I. has had a long, proud history and culture. There are a lot of stains on that history and culture, but it’s an institution that has prided itself on its independence. Same with the A.T.F., which is often bucked by Republican administrations. I’ve certainly had my problems with the D.E.A. over the years, but there is a separate culture and sense of independence there.

I think this an effort to build up the two federal policing agencies that Trump sees as most loyal and deferential to him.

One quote that I came across while I was preparing for this episode from the journalist Caitlin Dickerson — you know these things and then you realize you don’t really know them, you’re not tracking their scale. of more and more agencies, larger military budget, etc….(14 more pages)

Governor JB Pritzker

‪@govpritzker.illinois.gov‬

According to federal data, 13 of the top 20 cities in homicide rates have Republican governors. None of those cities are Chicago.

8 of the top 10 states in homicide rates are led by Republicans. None of those states are Illinois.

And yet Trump is sending troops here.

Post from Donald Trump on Truth Social:

A really deadly weekend in Chicago. 6 dead, 27 hurt in crime sprees all over the city. Panic stricken Governor Pritzker says that crime is under control, when in fact it is just the opposite. He is an incompetent governor who should call me for help. Mayor Johnson is no better. Make Chicago great again!

Report: Walz Denied Catholic Schools’ Request for Small Security Budget Despite $17 Billion Surplus

Alana Mastrangelo 28 Aug 2025

Minnesota Gov. TimWalz (D) reportedly denied Catholic schools’ request for a small security budget, despite having a $17 billion surplus and giving similar grants to public schools.

The Minnesota Catholic Conference, the public voice for the state’ssix dioceses, asked Walz twice in two yearsfor asmall security grant to protect against school shootings, according to a report by National Catholic Register.

“There areapproximately 72,000 students enrolled in Independent, Catholic, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim nonpublic schools in our state,” the 2023 letter from the Minnesota Catholic Conference to Walz read.

“The latest school shooting at a nonpublic Christian school in Tennessee sadly confirms what we already know — our schools are under attack,” the letter continued, referring to the March 2023 mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, carried out by 28-year-old Audrey Hale, who identified as transgender.

The Minnesota Catholic Conference, however, was denied, but similar security grants were reportedly handed out to public schools.

In 2023, while asking for assistance, the MinnesotaCatholic Conference went on to ask to be included in Walz’s “budget recommendation of $50 million to establish the Building and Cyber Security Grant Program,” noting “the exclusion of one sector of schools — as you know, nonpublic schools serve many students and families in need of services and resources — is a discriminatory act against our students==.”

Since 2020, nonpublic schoolshave beenadvocating to be part of the Safe Schools Programthat provides funding to school districts for emergency response training, security upgrades, mental health services, and security resources,” the letter continued.

“Thelegislation supportedby our collective organizations provides state aid to school districts, intermediate school districts, charter schools and nonpublic schools for this program.Unfortunately, this program currently does not cover nonpublic schools, charter schools and intermediate school districts and it is a levy-only program for school districts,” Minnesota Catholic Conference added.

Moreover, the request arrived whenMinnesota was running a $17.6 billion budget surplus in 2023, National Catholic Register noted.

“In 2022, after a bill to expand thefunding to non-public schools stalled, Minnesota’sbishops urged Walz to call a special sessionand pass anexpansion to Safe Schools,” the outlet reported.“The measure would have provided $44 per student for security costs, regardless of their school’s affiliation.”

“The House version of the bill was supported by multiple members of the Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party, the Minnesota affiliate of the national Democratic Party, indicating bipartisan support. However, Walz did not call a special session to pass the legislation,” National Catholic Register added.

Walz, meanwhile, used state taxpayer dollars in 2023 to create a “trans refuge” to “protect those seeking gender-affirming care,” OutFront Minnesota reported that year.

The suspect accused of going on a shooting rampage at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis that left two dead and 14 wounded was transgender.

Exclusive – Netanyahu: You Can’t be ‘MAGA’ If You’re Anti-Israel(BULLSHIT!)

Joel B. Pollak 28 Aug 2025

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Breitbart News on Wednesday in an exclusive interview that the antisemitism that has grown on the political right is not only anti-Israel, but anti-American and anti-Trump.

Netanyahu addressed the problem he referred to as the “woke right,” which arose as some conservative pundits — including a few who had once been supportive of Israel — opposed Israel in the “12-Day War” against Iran, as well as any American involvement on Israel’s side.

The issue arose in a discussion of antisemitism, which has become familiar on the left in recent years, and is resurgent on the right:

Breitbart News: Antisemitism has been rising around the world, and many of us had become used to seeing it on the extreme left, but now it does seem to be rising on the right as well — and not just from traditional sources on the right, the neo-Nazi fringe and so forth, but there are in the United States, certain popular conservative commentators who appear to have drifted in that direction. Where is that coming from? Is that based on foreign influence? Is it religiously based, somehow? Where is it coming from, in your view, and how do you stop it?

Netanyahu: There’s been a lot of foreign influence over the last two decades. There have been NGOs [non-governmental organizations] from various corners, … primarily from Europe, but also from Qatar. That is, you know, spent billions on American universities, vilifying, vilifying Israel, vilifying Jews, and also, frankly, vilifying the United States. Because if you open Al Jazeera in Arabic, not in English, and you just track it over the years, it’s been horrible. It’s been antisemitic, anti Israeli, anti American, and all that was left to accumulate primarily in academia, you know, and from there, it sort of distributes itself elsewhere.

(Here We Go Again)But I can tell you this: look, the Jewish people have had this problem of vilification for thousands of years, and we were accused of everything. In the Middle Ages, we were accused of killing Christian children and using their blood, okay? I mean, and these lies, these, these horrible blood libels always preceded massacres. They spread from one country to the other, and there was very little we could do about it. We were vilified, and then we were massacred, until this culminated in the worst massacre of them all — the Holocaust. The Nazis said we were spreading vermin — you know, just like in the Middle Ages. What has changed since the rise of Israel is not this vilification and not these cycles of latent antisemitism that burst forth from time to time, as it’s happening now. What has changed is that it’s not followed by massacre[s], because when they try, as they did on October 7, Hamas tried, we’re able to fend them off, defend ourselves and defeat our enemies. That’s the change that Israel has brought. But I think we have the continuous battle for truth, and I appreciate the opportunity that you have given me to tell the truth.(Ah the biggest non truth teller there is.)

And let me say one more thing — you talked about the “woke right”?Some of these people call themselves MAGA [Make America Great Again]. They’re not MAGA. If you support Iran, Iran tried to kill President Trump twice, not once, but twice. Iran has put a price on his head. … That’s Iran. Iran has murdered, has killed and wounded more Americans, thousands of them, in Iraq and in Afghanistan with their explosive devices. They killed 251 American Marines in Beirut. They bombed American embassies. They burn American flags. They chant, “Death to America.” The first thing they did when this regime took power was to take over 50 hostages in the American embassy.

Iran wants to annihilate the United States. Israel is the best ally of the United States.Israel is fighting Iran, and you can’t be MAGA if you’re pro Iran, you can’t be MAGA if you’re anti-Israel. President Trump understands this, and he stands very strongly with us. And I, you know, I really appreciate the straightforward and courageous way that he he faces people, sometimes in his own constituency, because that’s what leaders, from time to time, have to do.

Since taking office, Trump has launched the most aggressive campaign against antisemitism in American history, focusing on university campuses but also fighting anti-Jewish hatred in the media and in politics.

This thought "if you don't care for Jews, you are supporting terrorism is just perverse". The same guilt trip, that has been going on for 1,000s of years. God even condemned the Jews at some point. Not that I condemn any of them, but this is just propaganda. The goal is "you can't think or feel what you want to, you must take sides", makes no sense, unless you are Bibi.

Sitting European President Flat-Out Calls Trump a ‘Russian Asset’

Alex GriffingAug 28th, 2025, 4:29 pm

Portuguese PresidentMarcelo Rebelo de Sousa pulled no punches on Wednesday in calling President Donald Trump a “Russian asset” during a surprise speech at a university event dedicated to training young professionals in the country.

Rebelo de Sousa’s address touched on international affairs, and he mentioned Trump as “an exemplar of a new, more emotionally-charged political leadership style that seeks direct engagement with citizens, bypassing traditional media intermediaries,” according to a summary in Portugal Pulse.

The report went on to directly quoteRebelo de Sousa as saying, “With something unique and complex: the top leader of the world’s foremost superpower is, objectively, a Soviet or Russian asset. He operates as an asset.

“I am stating that, objectively, the new American leadership has strategically benefited the Russian Federation,” he said, adding:

in other words, they have shifted from being allies on one side to referees of the challenge.

The report summarized the rest of Rebelo de Sousa’s argument as saying Trump “seeks to negotiate solely with one of the parties, excluding both Ukraine and Europe, who found themselves having to impose their presence in recent discussions” – a reference to Trump’s recent summit with Vladimir Putin, followed by European leaders rushing to the White House.

Rebelo de Sousa is Portugal’s head of state, but not the head of government, which is the prime minister, who holds most of the country’s executive power. Rebelo de Sousa plans to retire next March when his term is up and wants to teach in his retirement.

Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has also spoken out publicly about Trump’s relationship with Putin.

“When you see Trump with Putin, as I have on a few occasions, he’s [Trump] like the 12-year-old boy that goes to high school and meets the captain of the football team. My hero! It is really creepy. It’s really creepy,” Turnbull said in February of 2024.

Trump, who called for Russia to hack Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, has long been alleged to have ties to Russia, which led to a special counsel investigation – and later the indictment and conviction of Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort on a raft of charges.

(THEY, all these elites around the world are never let go of the Russia gate Hoax, obviously they still hate him and do not want him running the USA. Sick, sick people. These statements from these leaders are racist elites that believe they are far superior to Trump and Americans. They hate all Russians, proving they are cowards and cannot work with others.)

What further and dangerous threats are we missing talking and posting on the Trans weirdo?

Is there any obvious moving of US military in American States?

This definitely seemed like a major diversion, from more dangerous or things happening in our country.

Not saying it was not important but it's not our greatest problems, here.
